The idol whose dance trainer once has given up on him

is NCT's Taeyong

When he got street-casted, he had no interests in celebrities.
Back then, he thought the top 3 companies in South Korea were KBS, MBC, and SBS.

Reporter: We always notice how a great dancer you are. How was your skill when you were a trainee?
Taeyong: I was a really bad dancer. My dance trainer even said, 'I don't think he's going to make it'.

This good-looking guy was only 18 years old and (He was in 11th grade, got street-casted during winter break) when he got street-casted. He couldn't find SM's office and ended up 30 minutes late to the audition. He got accepted just by singing South Korea's national anthem. He was so bad at dancing until the point that his trainer doubt that he's going to make it.

During his trainee days

Because of how lacking he was, he used to dance in the back of the other trainees. He observed them and followed them. He has improved a lot in a year and a half, from a bad dancer to be the center who leads the other members during their dance practice and even the center of Rookies at SM Concert. Now he has become the main dancer of NCT.

'My friend is a modern dancer, and her teacher was the trainer who used to train NCT back then.
He talks about Taeyong a lot in order to motivate his students'

The dance trainer often mentions Taeyong to motivate his students who lack a lot in terms of dancing.

LH: You started learning to dance at the age of 18. Do you consider yourself as talented, hard-working, or just lucky?
Taeyong: I kept this in mind, "This is the only way for me". I was really young and innocent back then, I worked hard (to become who I am now)

TY: 'I'm not sure about how I look. Honestly, I heard a lot of people talk about how handsome I am as I grew up. (laughs) But I really hate to her that. I want to get acknowledged for my skills, not for my looks. Currently, I am working hard to love my face, my body, my own self. I believe that if I love myself, other people will love me too.'

He got street-casted for his visual, but he wants to get acknowledged for his talent.
