'First Lady', a documentary movie about Kim Geonhee, the wife of President Yoon Sukyeol, is set to be released on the 12th.
'First Lady,' a movie that shares various controversies surrounding Kim Geonhee, draws attention as it's going to be released in the middle of President Yoon's emergency martial law declaration and the ongoing impeachment crisis. However, the screening that was previously planned to be held at the National Assembly has been canceled.
Lawmaker from the Democratic Party, Kim Joonhyuk, stated on the 10th, "The National Assembly Secretariat notified us that the 'First Lady' screening was not approved. I understand that the People Power Party strongly opposed the screening during the venue approval process."
The documentary features Pastor Choi Jaeyoung who handed the Dior bag, journalist Lee Myungsoo from Seoul's voice who had over 7 hours of phone calls with Kim Geonhee during the 20th presidential election, and Chairmaj Jung Daetaek who has been suing Kim Geonhee's family for over a decade.
Meanwhile, President Yoon declared an emergency martial law on the night of December 3, only for the National Assembly to lift it early on December 4. On December 7, the National Assembly held a vote on President Yoon's impeachment motion, but it was rejected after lawmakers from People Power Party did a walk-out during the plenary session. Since then, opposition parties have announced plans to pursue a second impeachment motion.
