The reason why we should avoid making 'granny' remarks even as a joke

Self-degrading remarks about being old can be rude to those older than you, discouraging to peers, and practically a curse to those younger than you.

I'm also used to self-degrading, but if it's hard to stop for your own sake, it might be better to stop for the sake of others.

Of course, in a country where self-degrading and humility are often hard to differentiate, it can be a little bit embarrassing to show confidence. But I think it's better to be a slightly immature adult than someone who spreads the belief that 'Once you get to this age, your life is over' into the subconscious of others.

There are so many examples of (self-degrading), and since society sets an expiration date to people, younger people might feel like they want to give up on life when they reach a certain age. Older people are just like milestones for younger individuals. I think we need more adults who say, 'I'm here now and I'm still fine. It's okay to get to this point.'

I hope people will stop unnecessarily referring to themselves as 'granny'

Even if you feel old, save that term for your actual grandchildren later.

-Seriously, just stop.

-I'm in my late 20s, and I find this one friend in our group chat who keeps saying, 'We're old now.' Yeah, you're the only one who gets old here. It's because you don't work out. Why do you have to discourage everyone?

-Seriously, stop f*cking calling yourself 'granny' all the time. Don't group me into it. Even if I'm 80, I'm still going to be a babyㅡㅡ

-That is right. Stop degrading yourself.

-That's right. People are too obsessed with being young, it feels like they're looking down on the process of getting older. So let's stop making that remark.

-The people who joke about being 'grannies' are always those who are younger than me... They're usually around 25 or younger. Like... You're still young, why are you calling yourself a 'granny'? Please don't use that term unless you really have grandkidsㅠ

-It's actually disrespectful to actual older people. I didn't understand the term 'Half 20' when that term was popular either.

-I hate it when my friends call themselves 'grannies'ㅠㅠ Do you want to be treated like a granny or what? Please stop saying, 'I can't do that because I'm already a granny' or something like that...!

-In a world where people get their first job in their 30s, hearing 20-somethings calling themselves 'grannies' pisses me off.
