They all cried so sadlyㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ 

 

This project album was made to celebrate their 10th debut anniversary. 

They had 4 days of music shows promotions + 3 days of Korean concerts + variety show appearances, and an Asia tour planned. Today was their last concert in Seoul.

GFRIEND to reunite after 4 years for their 10th debut anniversary ... Set to return in January next year

According to multiple sources in the industry on the 24th, GFRIEND is currently preparing for a new project with the goal of releasing it in January 2025. GFRIEND is reported to be preparing a meaningful gift for fans in January 2025, which marks their 10th debut anniversary.

This project will be handled by Source Music, the company that accompanied the beginning and grew along with GFRIEND. Despite being under different agencies, all the members have maintained a good relationship with Source Music. Naturally, they have decided to work with Source Music for this project.

GFriend's Members Talk About the Sudden Contract Termination

 

Sowon's Interview

Q: Since you have spent your time together from the age of 21, parting ways from GFriend after 8 years wouldn't be easy. 

A: It was indeed very difficult for me to gather my thoughts at that time. The news came so suddenly. I had always thought about becoming an actress one day, but I never expected that time to be now. Despite the difficulty of parting ways and the pain it brought, I knew I had to keep moving forward, creating my own path. I couldn't just let myself drown in hardships. Of course, it took quite some time to accept that fact. It's been almost a year now, and the other members have all accepted and adapted to it. Honestly, I feel like I'm the one having the hardest time adjusting. 

SinB's Interview:

SinB: We didn't know if it was our last promotions. We couldn't be the ones to bring it up first like, 'We're not doing this anymore. We're not renewing our contracts.' So actually, before the article came out (about the contract ending), about a month before, if you see the V Live Broadcast that our members did, we were crying while watching videos of fans cheering us on. 

So, on the day the article came out, we didn't expect it to come out. That's why we cried a lot. Each three of us lived in the same dorm. I lived with Sowon Unnie and Eunha Unnie, you know? In the morning, when the articles came out, we all came out of our rooms at the same time, while crying. We didn't expect it to come out that day. We were just crying and stuff. 

So... Last year was probably a really tough year for all of us, we just didn't show it to our fans. I never expected it to be the year where I would cry so much. I think I already cried out all of my tears last year. Actually, I hope GFriend will release an album again some day... Or meet again and reunite...

-Sure, groups disband all the time. But not like this. What kind of handling is this?

-That's exactly why I hate it when people say things like 'Source Music is an angel' or Source Music is a saint'. It's disgusting. 

-Wasn't that before Min Heejin went to ADOR?

-But what I really don't understand is that Source Music itself was a well-established agency with GFriend being popular. So why did they do that?

-This is exactly why I hate Source Music.

-Their concept changed after joining HYBE, but their quality also improved. It felt like another version of GFriend. However, I agree that it was too sudden. 

-This has nothing to do with New Jeans, it's just Source Music being a scoundrel.

The Kpop Industry is very hard for girl groups to survive ever since 2017

First of all, let's take a look of the successful girl groups that debuted from 2014 to 2016
They will be included in this post if they, at least, fulfil one of these standards:
1. Their songs are charted monthly in Gaon Chart
2. They've sold more than 50,000 copies in the first week of the release

-What's your definition of 'successful'?

-I think it's even more harsh for boy groups...

-I personally think Weki Meki, Dreamcatcher, and Ever Glow survived this industry, though...

-But hasn't it always been like this?? Out of all the idol groups debuted in one year, only one or two of them that survived and the rest are just kind of... buried. 

-It is true that this industry is getting tougher and tougher as the time passes by, but it doesn't only apply to girl groups, boy groups have it tough too.

-I know right, I noticed that it seems to be very difficult for idol groups to hit big these days

-That's true, but I think as long as the members are talented and the songs they release are in high-quality, they're going to hit big..

-You have to watch over a group for at least 3 years before deciding if they flopped or not. It's hard for idol groups to hit big as soon as they debut, unless if they're from big companies

-There are a lot of idol groups that takes quite some time after their debut to hit bigㅋㅋ Even some of the groups mentioned in the post experienced that...

-I had no idea Mamamoo and Red Velvet debuted in the same year...

-The groups listed in this post are all from well-known companies...

-I noticed that April has quite numerous achievements, besides, Naeun is really popular lately...

-It takes some times for idols to hit big these days, we don't know anything for sure before it happens

-What is the standards for this post? Sales??

Why hasn't GFriend's encore stage become a buzz yet?

Youtube's algorithm somehow made me end up watching this video
I got so immersed that I also watched the other videos of them and learned how crazy Yuju and Eunha are. The other members sound stable as well, but Yuju and Eunha are totally blowing my mind

Eunha hit her 3 octaves high notes in Sunrise without any AR at all, and yet she still sounds exactly the same like in the song

1. [+121][-12] I think Sowon improved a lot since her debut. I've always liked GFriend since they first debuted, I watch their videos more often than other people. Back then, Sowon only got like one line...? for her part. And now her parts are equal to the other members, not to mention that she sounds really good when she sings live

2. [+108][-5] They're well-known for being great singersㅇㅇJust type in Ear-purifying Encore and most of the results will show their videos

I remember how they thought Sunrise was so high that they felt like they couldn't sing it live, but they actually nailed the live performances. And they also worried if they release another song with even higher notes, they're scared they may not be able to sing it live while dancing. But after watching their live performance in a Radio Show, not only it shows how much they've improved for the last 6 years, they also improved that they keep improving in each comebacks, which is very amazing.

Is GFriend's Sowon lying about her height?

Giant Pink is 172cm tall, Sowon's height in her official profile is 172.8cm 
But judging by how she bends her knees a little bit and wear slippers in this picture, she must be at least 180cm tall

This was from her early debut days.
Zico is 181cm tall, not to mention that Sowon was wearing sneakers here

Sowon-ah, it's already the time for you to reveal your actual height
Everyone in this world knows that you're 180cm tall

GFriend's stage sets and outfits for this comeback are really amazing

GFriend's comeback stage creates buzz in various online communities

Everyone is talking about how cool their concept and how they suit it really well

Before they start their performance, they play a 2-mins long VCR
And Eunha wanders around before she picks an apple
Then, the performance starts as she picks that apple

I'm not saying that their company changes their concept because GFriend didn't do well. But for most girl groups, when they're not doing so well, their companies would tell them to reveal more skin and do sensual choreography, etc. But look at GFriend, they never reveal their skin, they never look uncomfortable in their stage outfits, and their choreographies always show confidence and look cool, right? Since their stage outfits were designed so that they could be comfortable dancing in it, they can be more energetic and focused to their performance, song, and dance. And I can clearly see that. I think their company think of them as their own daughters.

Their stage outfits and make up are totally on pointㅋㅋ When I first saw the VCR, I was like 'What is this...' But after watching the whole performance, I can totally understand the purpose of that VCR. They were tempted to become witches, right? But they look really cool as witches. Does this have any other meaning?

-GFriend's songs are getting better and better in each releases, please check them out~~

-I love the song...

-Whoa, I really love the song. Especially the part where Umji goes, 'Relax'

-This song shows off the anime-like vibes that GFriend has always had, it's so nice...

-It's such a great song... I love the choreography as well!

-I love the song, though?? People would complain if they always go with the typical-GFriend vibes, that's why they came up with a new and fresh concept. I think this concept suits them more!

-Fingertip and Time for The Moon Night were two of GFriend's songs that have their very own unique vibes. I think they're trying to change their image with this song, but that doesn't mean they have to get rid of their old vibeㅠㅠㅠ

-I totally love the song! It gives off a new vibes and I'm digging it

-When they change their concept, people would say 'Just do the concepts you used to do'. When they don't change their concept, people would say 'You're just recycling your songs'. You can't never satisfy people...

-Whoa, this is totally my type... GFriend is driving me nuts...

-I'm in love with this songㅋㅋㅋ I love the harmonisation, it sounds very beautiful. I've watched their MV and I'm already imagining how could their year-end performances would be!
