EXO's Kai has announced that he will be enlisting next week, raising curiosity about the military service law related to his enlistment.
A representative from the Military Manpower Administration stated, "The postponement of the enlistment date for those who are about to fulfill their military service is possible up to 5 times within a range of 2 years." The official explained, "Among the reasons for postponing enlistment, 'other reasons' can also be applied up to two times, which is included in the total of 5 postponement chances."
On the 3rd, SM Ent. announced, "Kai was preparing for EXO's comeback that is scheduled for this year, but due to recent changes in military regulations, he will be entering the training center on May 11th to receive basic military training before fulfilling his duty as a social service worker."
Kai was preparing for EXO's comeback to celebrate their 11th debut anniversary this year. However, both Kai and his fans were caught off guard when he suddenly had to enlist next week. According to the military service law explained by an official, it seems that Kai has used up all of the five possible postponement chances, including for overseas performances and other schedules.
