After watching a video of the grieving wife of a man who was tragically shot and killed, as a fellow mother I posted a tribute on my Instagram story with a heavy heart.

But then, people I do not even know came into my space to insult me, expressing their anger over political issues like Charlie Kirk's past statement as a politician, mentioning far-right and far-conservative views, and even dragging Wonder Girls.

Why are you all going that far?

A person died. I am mourning.

Are you laughing at a death of a person and thinking, 'That's what he deserved?'

Are you angry at me because I didn't keep silent?

Please do not be upset that I responded to such disrespectful remarks and unnecessary fights that polluted my space by clicking 'Delete and block.'

Beyond my job, beyond being a mother or a woman. As an individual person, I am mourning the tragic death of another human being. And as an individual, I am pondering how to pass on a slightly better world to the next generation.

Although we have different views and perspectives, I believe that through these differences that we can adjust toward a better direction and through such beautiful conflicts, we can move toward a better world.

Please refrain from weaponizing my tribute post into a political or religious issue and also from leaving disrespectful and demeaning comments on my page.

The video started off with an Asian Christian saying, "You shouldn't mourn Charlie Kirk as a martyr just because you're a Christian. Don't bash other people's beliefs just because they don't align with your own Christian faith."

The video was then stitched by a White Christian, saying "You either don't know what Charlie Kirk supported or you don't know the Bible. If you were truly Christian, you couldn't be progressive because that goes against Christianity."

3. Charlie Kirk's misogynistic statement, saying that the Bible couldn't be fake because the first witness to Jesus' resurrection was a woman. If this was a fake story, they would never have written that a woman was the witness.

Hello, I'm speaking up because I heard that I'm stirring a controversy on a certain online community for liking videos related to Charlie Kirk's tribute.

To be exact, I think I made a judgment based on a few fragmented impressions of his life without fully and accurately understanding his political stance. Many people informed me in the comments, and I only just realized this now. I am also quite shocked myself and have now unliked all related posts. 

As an influencer, I learned I need to understand a situation more clearly before taking any action. I have realized that I'm a very lacking person. I hope those who misunderstood or were hurt by my action don't remain distressed.

I was truly ignorant. I sincerely apologize.

Wonder Girls' former member Sunye, "I became the biggest traitor for getting married"

 

Sunye, who made her return as an idol after getting married, and her best friend, 2AM's Jokwon reveal their thoughts on the things that are forbidden for idols, especially about dating and marriage. Jokwon introduced himself, "I am an idol from Gen 2. I'm still an idol right now." Sunye continued as she laughed, "Frankly speaking, I became the biggest traitor in the idol industry for getting married."

Jokwon said, "You broke the mold. Sunye somehow is like something that was trapped inside a box, but she broke the mold. Why can't idols be married? Sunye broke that stigma."

Jokwon added, "In the end, being an idol is the process of being an artist and an icon." Sunye agreed, "That's right. I've been wanting to talk about this. People always talk about how the career of an idol usually only lasts for 6 to 7 years. They think idols need to retire once they reach that point." Jokwon said, "I hope people would stop having the prejudice that only people in their 10s can be idols."

Sunye said, "I'm really lucky to be able to do what I love again. I want to say that 'I still can work (as an idol) even though I got married, even though my work is limited. However, idols can get married and come back to the industry, just like me. I hope people would be more open about that in the future."

"When I had to leave Wonder Girls, there were so many question marks inside my head. As an idol, I have a big influence on people in their 10s. Therefore, I was really careful when I sing and give interviews so that I wouldn't be a negative influence on them. When my career was at its peak, my father and grandfather passed away. Facing two deaths, I started to think about my life. There were so many questions about my life. I came to the realization that there was this void in me, "Is this the happiness that I've always wanted?". I think that void couldn't even be filled with fame and money. I also realized that performing no longer brings me as much happiness as it used to before. That's when I thought to myself that I should get some rest"

She continues, "It's getting more severe slowly as the time passes by. I feel like my concerns and how I feel when I'm on stage are affecting the other members". Oh Eunyoung asks, "Why did you choose to withdraw from the group?"

Sunye responds, "There was a misunderstanding because of the term 'Withdrawal'. The public thought the other members couldn't promote because of me. In fact, at that time Wonder Girls was on hiatus as they prepared for a band. I didn't want to hurt the other members, so I thought I should speak up about this. I think the public wants me to explain this thoroughly."
