There's this principle in fashion that you have to keep a part of your looks simple to balance out your overall looks. However, Taeyong still remains to be a living piece of art even when he changes his hair color 12 times in a year and wear detailed and fancy makeup and outfits. A style director, Ellena Yim, in her past interview with Allure once said, "Taeyong can have a bold hair color and hairstyle, intense makeup, fancy piercings, and choker all at once and you will not think his looks is 'too much'".
