"Foreign media 250,000 VS Seoul city 40,000" Controversy over BTS Gwanghwamun concert audience numbers

SOURCE: "외신 25만명 VS 서울시 4만명", BTS 광화문 공연 '관객 수' 논란[MD이슈]

BTS' comeback concert held at Gwanghwamun Square on the 21st ended successfully, but conflicting analyses are emerging regarding the number of audiences.

The official seating prepared at the venue that day totaled 22,000, including standing (Section A), reserved seating (Section B), and additional seating (Section C). Fans who couldn't secure seats watched the performance from around the square.

Differences in media estimates and the controversy

On the 22nd, global music outlet Rolling Stone reported, "Last Saturday, over 250,000 fans gathered in Seoul, setting a record for the largest public concert in Korean history." However, criticism arose as this figure as simply quoted from the estimated number previously reported by foreign media like The New York Times without any actual verification.

Meanwhile, according to Seoul's real-time city data, the population around Gwanghwamun and Deoksugung Palace as of 8.30 PM (KST) that day was estimated at around 46,000 to 48,000 (classified as crowded). The organizer, HYBE, estimated about 104,000 people gathered based on data from the three major telecommunication providers and the proportion of foreign visitors.

Reason why the crowd was smaller than expected

Some point to strong measures by authorities as the reason why the crowd fell short of expectations. Due to safety concerns, authorities sent multiple emergency alerts requesting people to refrain from visiting. Furthermore, inconveniences such as excessive bag checks, body searches, and subways skipping stops are believed to also have discouraged people from attending.

BTS' leader, RM, posted a long message on the fan communication platform Weverse on behalf of the group, saying, "We sincerely thank everyone who showed generous consideration and support so that our comeback stage could be completed safely."

He continued, "We bow our heads in gratitude to the police, fire department, government, and local officials who worked hard to make sure the concert remained safe without major incidents despite the huge crowds," and expressed special thanks to the citizens who endured inconvenience for the Gwanghwamun concert.

BTS wrote, "We are truly sorry and grateful to the citizens, as well as the merchants and workers around the Gwanghwamun area, for enduring various inconveniences such as traffic control and noise. We will never take for granted the warm consideration you showed in embracing our concert, and we will remember it deeply for a long time."

After successfully completing their comeback concert, BTS departed for New York via Incheon International Airport on the morning of the 22nd to carry out their overseas schedule.

COMMENTS:

-Give a proper apology before you leave.

-Compensate the damages you've caused.

-If you're really sorry, compensate the damages you've causedㅋ

-Return the citizens' tax money.

-It's f*cking ridiculous how they're just running off overseas right away.

-Don't we need to restrict traffic on Incheon Airport too?ㅠㅠ

-Huk... Shouldn't they deploy 15,000 extra security guards at the airport??

-Did you even get the citizens' consents?? At least compensate the damages you've caused before leaving.

-Don't just talk, apologize with money.

-I bet they'll go on some late-night talk show and show off photos from their Gwanghwamun concert.

-Scammersㅋㅋㅋ

-They're just acting like it's none of their business now??

-You even conducted body searches on the citizens of your own country due to terror threats. How can you trust going overseas then???

-They have no conscience.

-Don't ever come back.

HYBE makes 10 billion KRW from BTS' Gwanghwamun concert, while citizens lose 30 billion KRW

SOURCE: BTS 방탄 광화문 공연으로 하이브는 100억 벌고 시민들은 300억 손해봄

The real price tag of BTS' 'free' Gwanghwamun concert

Is it free just because they don't charge for tickets? We broke down the actual costs.

HYBE's cost: 90 million KRW (venue rental + filming permits)

Citizens' cost: ~30 billion KRW (taxes + inconvenience + loses)

Direct public costs (taxes): 10.5 to 10.7 billion KRW

-Deployment of 6,700 police officers: 6.5 to 10 billion KRW
-Deployment of 3,400 Seoul city & fire department staff: 2 to 3 billion KRW
-Traffic control, additional temporary trains, welcoming events: 1.5 to 3 billion KRW
-Gyeongbokgung Palace closure, Ministry. Culture crisis alert: 0.5 to 1 billion KRW

Hidden costs (private sector):4.9 to 13.1 billion KRW

-Restrictions of 31 buildings and loss of business sales: 2.8 to 6.8 billion KRW
-33-hour closure of Sejong-daero, traffic congestion: 0.9 to 2.7 billion KRW
-Forced annual leave, wedding disruptions, delivery bans: 0.7 to 2 billion KRW
-Public safety gaps, special responses by 3 major telecom companies: 0.5 to 1.5 billion KRW

HYBE's tour operating profit is more than 400 billion KRW, while the estimated social cost of ~30 billion KRW is only 0.8% of that

Cost per Seoul citizen: ~3,160 KRW
Cost per South Korea citizen: ~590 KRW

This wasn't a free concert. The bill was passed to the citizens. In the UK and the US, the costs for police deployed at large private events are billed to the organizers. Only South Korea lacks such a system. This isn't meant to be attacking BTS, but questioning the structure.

Late Sulli's brother takes a shot at BTS Gwanghwamun concert ... "It's not like there are no other places to hold it"

SOURCE: 故설리 친오빠, BTS 광화문 공연 저격.."할 곳 없는 것도 아니고" [스타이슈]

The older brother of the late Sulli, former member of f(x) and actress, commented on BTS' Gwanghwamun concert.

On the 21st, he posted on his personal account, "If you can't give happiness, you shouldn't cause misery either."

He added, "It's not like there are no other places to hold a concert," criticizing the choice of venue.

He also directly mentioned BTS, adding, "Good luck, BTS."

The late Sulli's brother's remarks appeared to be criticizing the heavy congestion occurring near Gwanghwamun, where the BTS concert is being held.

BTS is set to hold their free comeback concert, 'BTS Comeback Live: ARIRANG' at 8 PM (KST) that day in the Gwanghwamun Square to celebrate the release of their 5th full-length album.

Police estimated that up to 260,000 people would gather in the area on the day of the event. Accordingly, they deployed around 6,700 personnel, including 70 riot police units and experts in traffic, crime prevention, and special forces, along with 5,400 pieces of equipment.

The control on-site was also strict. A total of 31 entry gates were installed in the core areas, with walkthrough metal detectors to inspect the belongings of both audiences and passersby.

Meanwhile, Sulli passed away on October 14, 2019 at the age of 25.

100,000 people instead of 260,000, why was it less than expected? ... Police estimate 40,000

SOURCE: 26만명 아닌 10만명, 왜 기대보다 적었나?…경찰은 4만 추산

The highly anticipated BTS' comeback concert, which drew attention from all over the world, has ended successfully. Thanks to thorough safety preparations, the event ended without major incidents. However, some are expressing disappointment as the crowd (roughly 100,000) fell short of the expected 260,000 people.

According to the Seoul Metropolitan Government, as of 8 PM (KST) on the 21st, between 40,000 to 42,000 people gathered at Gwanghwamun Square in Jongno-gu, Seoul, where the 'BTS Comeback Live: ARIRANG' was held. The police also unofficially estimated the crowd at around 42,000.

On the other hand, the organizer, HYBE, stated that 'about 104,000 people gathered at Gwanghwamun Square.' Even based on the organizer's estimated number, there is still a significant gap from the number of audience which was originally expected to be 260,000 people.

Analysis suggests that many citizens refrained from visiting Gwanghwamun following warnings from authorities about potential safety risks due to overcrowding. The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education even distributed notices to elementary, middle, and high schools, urging students to avoid visiting Gwanghwamun on this day.

Additionally, since the concert was also livestreamed on Netflix, many people likely felt that it was more practical to watch comfortably from home.

Poor accessibility caused by traffic restrictions to Gwanghwamun Square and the inconvenience to commute home after the concert also became reasons why citizens hesitated to go. One BTS fan said, "When I heard that the concert would only be about an hour, I decided not to go. Since I didn't get a ticket, I decided it was better to watch it on Netflix instead of forcing myself to go."

Than to the thorough preparations by the police and organizers for a potential crowd of up to 260,000, pedestrian safety around Gwanghwamun remained well managed even after the concert. Subway stations that had been skipping stops like City Hall Station (Lines 1 and 2), Gwanghwamun Station (Line 5), and Gyeongbokgung Station (Line 3), returned to normal operation from 10 PM (KST).

Furthermore, the Seoul city government also deployed a total of 12 additional trains to help audiences return home.

Meanwhile, some nearby convenience store owners and shopkeepers, which had increased their stock in anticipation of 260,000 people, are expressing their complaints on social media about having 'too much leftover inventory' due to the crowd number that is smaller than expected.

RM suffers 'ankle injury' during comeback show rehearsal ... "Limited movements, please understand"

SOURCE: [속보] RM, 컴백쇼 리허설 중 '발목 부상'…"퍼포먼스 일부 제한, 양해 부탁" (전문)

BTS' RM has suffered an ankle injury.

On the 20th, Big Hit Music announced, "While rehearsing for the performance on the 19th, RM sustained an ankle injury and was taken to the hospital for a detailed examination and treatment. The results showed a navicular bone sprain, partial ligament tear, and ligament damage and inflammation. According to the medical professionals, he should wear a cast and focus on recovery by minimizing movement for at least two weeks."

They continued, "As this comeback stage at the symbolic location of Gwanghwamun is very meaningful, he had a very strong desire to deliver a high-quality performance. However, to prioritize medical advice and prevent the injury from worsening, we made the difficult decision together with the artist himself to minimize his movements during 'BTS Comeback Live: ARIRANG.' As a result, RM's choreography and some stage performances will be limited."

The agency stated, "We sincerely ask for your understanding for any disappointment this may cause to fans and audiences who have been waiting for this stage. Although there are limitations to the performance, RM will participate on stage within his capabilities to connect with ARMY and the audience. As you have waited a long time for this stage, we will do our best to deliver a heartfelt performance."

They concluded, "We will prioritize the artist's health and safety above all else, and we will provide full support so that RM can fully recover and return to his activities in perfect health."

MEanwhile, BTS will release their 5th full-length album 'ARIRANG' on the 20th and make a full-group comeback. The following day, on the 21st, at 8 PM (KST), they will hold 'BTS Comeback Live: ARIRANG' at Gwanghwamun Square area.

BTS' comeback D-2: "Gwanghwamun is in festival mode while weddings are in emergency mode ... Soon-to-be-married couples stomp their feet in distress

SOURCE: BTS 컴백 D-2 광화문은 축제, 결혼식은 비상… 예비부부들 ‘발 동동’

"There are only two days left, I'm worried about what happens if the roads get blocked. I'm especially concerned about the elderly guests."

Son (36), a bride-to-be who will hold her wedding on the afternoon of the 21st at the Korea Press Center, can't put her phone down these days. Although she should be excited right now, her expression is far from bright. The reason is because the BTS concert taking place at the same day at Gwanghwamun square.

On the 19th, Son said, "It's obvious that my guests will wander on the street since it is announced that the traffic will be controlled from Gwanghwamun to the City Hall Station," adding, "Even though it's supposed to be a happy day for me, the first thing I can think of is 'What if (my guests) can't make it?'"

Her anxiety is clearly visible even on her mobile wedding invitation. Instead of joyful messages, it is filled with instructions like "Get off at Euljiro 1-ga Station," "No vehicle access," and "Walking recommended." She sighed deeply, saying, "There are only two days left, and yet I'm still making calls to guests one by one to explain the directions."

While this concert, that is expected to draw 260,000 people, is a festival for fans worldwide, it has become an unavoidable 'bolt from the blue' for some soon-to-be-married couples. Wedding venues are usually booked a year in advance, but the concert schedule was only announced in mid-January of this year. Even if they try to change dates now, cancellation fees ranging in millions to tens of millions KRW make it difficult.

An official from the wedding industry near Gwanghwamun stated, "Saturday reservations during peak season are impossible to replace," adding, "Even if we receive requests to change schedules, there is realistically no way to do so in most cases."

Jung (30), who will hold her wedding near Gwanghwamun Station on the 22nd, is also heavy-hearted. She said, "My family members are coming up from Pohang and Changwon, they will stay at a nearby hotel the day before. It seems impossible even just to get around because of the crowds. I'm most worried they won't even be able to have proper meal."

Some businesses are taking early precautionary measures to avoid the crowds. A yoga studio owner in her 30s near the venue decided to cancel all Saturday classes. Meanwhile, an academy director (34) plans to switch to online classes for the day. Even the large bookstore Kyobo Book Center's branch in Gwanghwamun will also close earlier, from 10 PM to 4 PM.

Seoul citizens gave thumbs up and applauded BTS, who is preparing for a historic comeback at Gwanghwamun Square.

On the afternoon of the 18th, as stage construction was in full swing ahead of the concert, not only fans, but many Seoul citizens also came to watch. Citizens are seeing BTS' performance positively, considering the square's symbolic meaning and its contribution to raise the country's global status.

A woman in her 50s from Mapo-gu said, "I can really feel the prestige of our country." She added, "There are bound to be some side benefits from this, aren't there? I hope there will be more frequent concerts not only from BTS, but also from BLACKPINK, etc."

The woman also shared her thoughts on the road closures caused by the concert, saying, "It's a square, after all. It's meant for events like concerts, so I think a temporary inconvenience like this is not a problem at all," expressing her support for using the square as a concert venue.

A couple in their 60s from Gwanak-gu also took photos of the stage setup process. The husband shared a message of support to BTS, saying, "It's meaningful. I think they bring joy and hope to the people of our country during difficult times," expressing his gratitude to the group.

COMMENTS:

-? Guess I've become a Gyeonggi Province citizen then

-The media play is very HYBE-like.

-? I never gave a thumbs up, though? This is just making me angry.

-What are you talking about? Do you have any idea how many buses got delayed because of this?

-This is so f*cking inconvenient. It's really hard to go to and get off from work.

-Maybe those citizens in their 50s and 60s just don't feel the inconvenience...

-I wonder if those citizens in question actually existㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

-When did you ever f*cking ask me??

-I'm the one who feels the inconvenience!!!!

-Stop with the lies!!! They blocked the entire square on Monday. Do you know how hard the commute was that day??

-Are they doing the media play already?

-As a Seoul citizen, I'm baffled.

-Cut the bullshit.

-More like middle finger up.

-Why are they doing media play like this? It just makes the group more unlikable.

Prosecutors indict Brazilian woman in her 30s for stalking BTS Jungkook by ringing his doorbell hundreds of times

SOURCE: [단독] 검찰, ‘BTS 정국 초인종 수백회 스토킹’ 브라질 30대 여성 구속기소 [세상&]

It has been confirmed that prosecutors have indicted and detained a Brazilian woman in her 30s on charges of repeatedly visiting the residence of BTS Jungkook, ringing his doorbell hundreds of times, stalking him, and even trespassing into his home.

According to Herald Economy on the 3rd, the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office indicted and detained the woman, identified as A, on February 27 for violating the Anti-Stalking Act and trespassing. She was also accused of attempted trespassing, but prosecutors dismissed that charge due to lack of evidence.

A is accused of stalking Jungkook by visiting his home 23 times between December 7 of last year to January 4 this year, ringing his doorbell hundreds of times, waiting near his home, and even leaving letters and other in his mailbox. Even after police issued an 'emergency restraining order' in late December last year, she failed to comply with that order by returning to his home again in early January.

Under current law, responses to stalking crimes move from emergency protective measures to emergency restraining order to court-ordered protective order. An 'emergency restraining order' allows police to ban a person from coming within 100 meters or contacting the victim.

A is also charged of trespassing on December 13 last year. She allegedly entered through a side gate of Jungkook's residence after a food delivery worker had left the door open.

The Yongsan Police arrested A on December 13 last year and investigated her. At the time, she claimed she 'just wanted to make her existence known and had no aggressive intention.' She was released the next day after questioning.

However, prosecutors determined that her actions continued. On December 28, a staff member spotted her in front of Jungkook's home and reported her to the police. The Yongsan Police then issued an emergency restraining order, but she still went back in January.

When her whereabouts became unknown, the police applied for an arrest warrant on January 28. On the 10th of last month, A was arrested. A detention warrant was later issued, and on the 13th of last month, she was taken into custody for investigation.

During investigation, A admitted the facts but denied criminal intention, saying that she 'acted out of love for Jungkook and had no intention of causing harm.' However, prosecutors concluded that her actions were clearly stalking and trespassing, leading her to be formally indicted on charges of violating the Anti-Stalking Act and trespassing.

The police initially forwarded the case with an additional charge of attempted trespassing after seeing her pressing the door lock keypad on a CCTV footage. However, prosecutors dismissed the charge, determining that the CCTV footage did not provide enough proof of a break-in attempt.

COMMENTS:

-Brazil?? Wow…

-She's over 30 years old. What on earth is she doing?ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

-Seeing this makes me understand why he crashes out.

-He must be insanely stressed out. If you're really a fan, you should let him rest at his own home. That's not love.

-Since he's a global star, his Sasaengs have varied nationalitiesㅠ

-It must be really exhausting to be a celebrity. Even if you earn a lot of money, your basic daily is always at risk.

-Why come all the way to another country just to harass him...? He's supposed to be your favorite singer...

-She's literally harassing him. You can't call that a fan.

-Brazil????? She came from so far away. There are seriously so many crazy people.

-How is that a fan? Sasaengs are just criminals.

-I mean... Can't they just deport her?

-Whenever I see articles about Sasaengs, they're all foreigners. There are barely any Korean Sasaengs now.

-I wonder if she would get banned from entering South Korea after receiving punishment...

-Isn't there any security at where he lives?

Jungkook after talking about drinking, smoking, and cussing in live broadcast: "I'll live my way from now on" ... Fans express worry, begging him to 'please stop'

SOURCE: 정국, 술·담배·욕설 라방 후 "이제 내 방식대로 살겠다" 선언…팬들 "제발 그만해라" 우려도

Jungkook drew concern from fans after sharing his honest feelings with rough language.

In the early morning of the 26th, Jungkook went on what he described as a 'drinking live stream' on Weverse with an acquaintance to communicate with ARMY.

Jungkook brought up the topic of smoking first, saying, "Why can't I talk about this? I'm 30," adding, "I used to smoke a lot. But I really made an effort and quit." He also expressed his complicated feelings by saying, "The company is going to make a fuss the moment I talk about this. This isn't something I've discussed with the company. I'm just saying this because I feel frustrated."

During the broadcast, Jungkook also used profanity and behaved roughly. He jokingly raised his middle finger toward his acquaintance and cussed playfully, saying, "I couldn't even flip my middle finger in front of ARMY." When his acquaintance made a mistake, he said, "You bastard," and used direct expressions like "Don't piss me off" while venting his feelings.

Jungkook also expressed his feelings, saying, "I'm human. I just want to be happy. Although that might not be possible," adding, "How many people in this world can really be honest? I wanted to be honest with ARMY. If it wasn't for the company, I'd want to tell you everything." He continued, "If I were someone who makes music alone, I think I would've just said it without caring."

Although he continued the broadcast freely, he occasionally showed that he was worried about his agency. He said, "This might become controversial. But this is who I am, what can I do?" adding, "Tomorrow, the members and the company will probably talk to me." He continued, "Will the company scold me a lot?" He also responded to fans who were worried about him and asked him to end the live stream, saying, "I wish you wouldn't tell me what to do."

After the live stream ended, he posted a selfie on Weverse, saying, "The album is really coming soon. Please wait just a little longer. When we come back, I will work really hard. I love you." He also left a comment saying, "I will life my life my way from now on, so please support me." When a fan told him to not regret the live stream, he responded, "Why would I regret that? I miss you!"

However, fans' reaction were strongly divided. Some fans expressed concern, saying, "Why do this right before the comeback?" "I'm worried this might negatively affect the other members," and "I'm worried that someday he will regret creating controversy like this." While other cautiously added, "Do whatever you want to do," and "Still, I hope he keeps a little bit of his 'idol' image."

On other hand, some fans showed support, saying, "Imagine how frustrating it must've been for him to act like that," "What's wrong with an adult smoking?" and "I support every side of Jungkook." Some also expressed affection, saying, "It hurts my heart to see him so frustrated," and "He loves his fans so much, I just hope he receives nothing but love."

BTS V: "I'm surprised that Min Heejin submitted our Kakao Talk messages without my consent ... I had no intention of taking sides"

SOURCE: BTS 뷔 "민희진, 내 동의없이 카톡 제출 당황…특정 편 서려는 의도 없어" [전문]

V has his position regarding the Kakao Talk messages used as evidence in the legal battle between HYBE and former ADOR CEO Min Heejin.

On the 20th, V stated through his account, "This was part of a private, daily conversation I shared with my acquaintance to show empathy. I have absolutely no intention of taking either side."

He continued, "However, I'm very taken aback that this conversation was submitted as evidence without my consent."

Previously, on the 12th, the Seoul Central District Court ruled on two lawsuits, including HYBE's lawsuit to confirm the termination of the shareholder agreement and Min Heejin's lawsuit to seek for payment for her shares. The court dismissed HYBE's claims and ruled that HYBE must pay approximately 25.5 billion KRW to Min Heejin.

It is reported that the court saw Min Heejin's allegations that ILLIT copied NewJeans as a fair opinion. During this process, Min Heejin's side submitted Kakao Talk messages she exchanged with V as an evidence, which the court accepted.

According to a news report on the 20th, V reportedly told Min Heejin in the message, "(People always talk about plagiarism, it never stops) Sigh... I know right. I also saw it and thought 'this looks similar...'" The court also noted that HYBE's Chairman Bang Sihyuk produced ILLIT's debut album.

After seeing these reports, V personally addressed on his personal social media, expressing how flustered he was that Min Heejin’s side submitted the messages as evidence without his permission.

'This looks similar...' V and Min Heejin's Kakao Talk messages submitted as evidence in the 'ILLIT-NewJeans copy allegations' trial

SOURCE: "이거 비슷한데…" 뷔-민희진 카톡, '아일릿-뉴진스 카피 의혹' 재판 증거 됐다

While former ADOR CEO Min Heejin won the 26 billion KRW legal battle against HYBE, a Kakao Talk message from BTS' V is included in the court ruling, drawing attention.

On the 12th, the Seoul Central District Court ruled in favor of Min Heejin in the lawsuit she filed against HYBE. The court recognized the exercise of her 'put option' and ordered HYBE to pay approximately 25.5 billion KRW.

According to the first trial verdict obtained by this paper on the 20th, the court judged that HYBE was the one who first spread the conflict to the public through media play. Also, the court determined that Min Heejin's suspicions of ILLIT copying NewJeans was an expression of opinion rather than defamation.

Notably, the court drew attention as they accepted the Kakao Talk message between V and Min Heejin as evidence. In the messages, V reportedly said, "(People always talk about plagiarism, it never stops) Sigh... I know right. I also saw it and thought 'this looks similar...'"

Previously, V had asked Min Heejin to be the head producer for his first solo album, Layover, released in 2023. At the time, Big Hit Music stated that at V's request, Min Heejin led the entire production, including music, choreography, design, and promotions.

Later, after Min Heejin's injunction against HYBE was dismissed in 2024, she appeared on the Youtube channel 'Kim Youngdae's School of Music,' where she shared, "V occasionally contacts me from the military," adding, " Since I've been going through this situation, he asked me if I was okay."

Meanwhile, HYBE filed an appeal on the 19th and is continuing to fight the court's decision.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum revealed that she sent a letter to President Lee Jaemyung requesting additional shows for BTS' world tour concerts.

During a press conference on the 26th, President Sehinbaum said, "The world-famous K-pop group BTS are scheduled to perform in Mexico in May. However, I heard that many young people were unable to get tickets." She added, "About 150,000 tickets were sold in Mexico, but more than 1 million people wanted to go."

President Sheinbaum emphasized, "With 3 shows confirmed in Mexico City, I made a polite diplomatic request to the South Korean President to let BTS visit Mexico more often."

She added, "If additional shows are difficult, I hope that alternatives such as screening the concert on large screens could at least be permitted."

Meanwhile, BTS is set to hold a world tour with 79 shows across Asia, North America, Europe, South America, and Oceania. They will start their American tour on April 25-26 and 28 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, followed by concerts at GNP Seguros Stadium in Mexico City on May 7, 9, and 10.

Busan city takes special measures ahead of BTS concert after President Lee Jaemyung criticizes 'overcharging'

On the 17th, Busan City announced they would launch 'Overcharging QR Reporting System' to prevent harm to tourists during BTS' concerts scheduled for June 12 to 13. Domestic and international tourists can scan the QR code to report overcharging and the report will be forwarded through the Korea Tourism Organization to the relevant local governments and authorities.

The city has distributed QR reporting stickers and posters on accommodations and posted informational banners on its official website. In addition, the city plans to form a joint inspection teams with district office and begin on-site inspections on accommodations that receive complaints starting next week. If overcharging or violation of reservation conditions are found, they will be reflected int he hotel's official ratings.

The city also plans to hold a 'Tourism Readiness Inspection Meeting' with related agencies soon to discuss further measures against overcharging in accommodation rates.

Once the venue is announced, the city will also provide guidance on areas with high concentrations of accommodations that have good public transport access in order to disperse the surge in booking demand.

The city appears to be taking a more proactive stance following direct criticism and calls for strict action from President Lee Jaemyung on the pervious day. On the 16th, President Lee shared a report on X stating that accommodation prices skyrocketing up to 10 times the normal rate due to BTS' concert, saying "Malicious exploitation that destroys market order and causes major harm to everyone must be rooted out."

He further emphasized, "If overcharging is detected, measures must be taken so that the losses is far greater than the unfairly gained profit." Previously, President Lee had addressed this issue at a cabinet meeting in September, stating that overcharging undermines domestic tourism and instructed officials to 'move beyond administrative guidance and establish systems of fines and penalties.'

Busan Mayor Park Hyungjoon stated, "We will proactively block accommodations that overcharge through the QR reporting system and on-site inspections. We will mobilize all available administrative resources to support the success of BTS' concert."

1. [+2,352][-12] If local governments only start acting after the President calls them out, then they should just scrap local autonomy altogether.

2. [+2,27][-116] Does the Mayor of Busan seriously not see the problem here? Sigh...

3. [+1,945][-103] What exactly is Park Hyungjoon even doing?

BTS RM's honest thoughts on marriage and childbirth

Jinsu-ya, durig his live broadcast, RM said that marriage and childbirth are choices. He said that South Korea seems to put too much pressure on women to give birth. He told women to just live life however they want. I totally agree. Ladies, let's stop thinking marriage and childbirth are obligations.

There's this pressure about marriage, and it's a realistic concern. Especially for women. It feels like there's this constant pressure from society and the media for us to have children and other things. I just hope everyone gets to live life however they want. There's no right answer.

I just think... If you can't handle being alone, will getting married actually make it better? Because once you're married, you might still want to be alone. People are complicated. So, someone who is comfortable with being alone might also be comfortable having companion, and vice versa. Therefore, getting married as a solution or a way to escape loneliness... I don't think that's right.

As for children, I'm not sure about this either. For me, I already struggle with taking care of myself. Raising a new life, a child... It doesn't really go the way you plan. If I think about how much trouble I gave my parents when I was young, then imagine if I had a kid just like me? Ugh~~ How tough would that be? Of course, they could be lovable to. But again, there's no right answer.

People who are married can only speak from the perspective of married people, and those who aren't married can only speak from the perspective of unmarried people. There are things we don't know about each other. Stories and cases from those around you should only be taken as their personal experiences.

In South Korea, I think those of us born in the 90s are the first generation where marriage truly became an options. I believe everyone should live according to their own choices.

I went a bit too deep into the topic of marriage, but well... That's just how it is. What else do we really have as content in life? Hobbies, travel... There's no right answer to any of it.

However, I do think it's important to nurture both our bodies and minds. Exercise and reading are the things that genuinely bring good to people. I don't think there's anything that's 100% good for everyone, but if there is, it's reading and exercising. Because they don't lie.

So, marriage doesn't make your loneliness go away 100%. I really don't think it does.

theqoo

-Whoa... Honestly, I never really liked him before, but this makes me like him. You can tell he's smart. He speaks in a different way.

-That's right. Reading and exercising are always a plus in life.

-I want to get married to someone smart like that.

-As expected from Namjoon💜

-Does he have no thoughts on writing a book? I’m genuinely curious about what he thinks and feels about life.

-As expected from my bias. He's the first Korean man I've deeply fallen for. A cool person down to the bone.

-He's so freaking smart.

-He should be the President.

-He's right. We live in an era where marriage is no longer mandatory.

-Fans might not like it, but I think he should go into politics.

-He's absolutely right. Marriage doesn't end loneliness. Sometimes, you'll feel even lonelier. Do you think having child will make you feel less lonely? Sometimes you'll feel even lonelier with child.

-... If you're telling me to live however I want.. I want to marry you, darling.

-Crazy... Give him a round of applause.

-Can he run in the next election?

'End of dating rumors' ... BTS Jimin: "I want to show a good side of myself... But living life well isn't easy"

https://m.entertain.naver.com/home/article/109/0005404295

Jimin shared his honest feelings after rumors regarding his private life were finally settled.

On October 1, Jimin held a live broadcast on Weverse to communicate with fans. He provided and update on his efforts for a full-group comeback, saying "I don't have preparations yet, so I'm currently working hard on the album. I'm very grateful. I've also been running diligently and dieting."

He raised anticipation for the upcoming album, saying "I'm looking forward to it. I'm currently working hard on this album, I'm really curios about how you all will feel about it. I shouldn't give up too much spoilers, so I won't say much. I think it will be an album that we all treasure deeply."

Regarding his discharge from the military service, he added, "I missed you all so much. I'm so happy to be able to come back after a long time. Now that I've served in the military, there won't be long breaks like that anymore. I have to keep preparing so that the album comes out next year and I'm able to meet you all. I must continuously show you all a good side of myself. I'm curious how you all will react and feel when the album comes out in the future. I'm constantly waiting for the day we meet."

In particular, Jimin indirectly expressed his feelings about the recent controversy regarding his private life, saying "It feels so good to be back. I missed you more than anyone. A lot of things have happened, but I always want to show a good side to fans and people in general.. But living life well isn't easy. As I live, I realize that being a good adult and living a good life are not easy to do."

He added, "That's right. I just need to do well. I have to do well. Becoming an adult is not easy, I'm just imitating an adult. Anyway, I will continue to live well while showing a good side of myself, and try harder to show it. I wanted to talk about that after coming after a long time. Thank you so much for speaking kindly to me."

He concluded by saying, "It was nice meeting you all after such a longtime. I wll quickly prepare various things so that I can show them to you all. I love you all. Don't worry about my health. I hope you all stay happy and healthy. You don't have to worry about me. Thank you so much for today. Thank you for watching. See you in Korea."

Jimin previously was involved in dating rumors with 'Heart Signal 2' cast Song Daeun for several years. Recently, Song Daeun posted a video suggesting her private meeting with Jimin, reigniting their dating rumors. In order to respect the other party's privacy, Big Hit Music broke their silence and issued their first ever official statement regarding this matter.

Big Hit Music stated, "The artist did have a connection with the other part in the past. They had mutual interest, but that was years ago. They are not in a relationship now." They also added, "Please refrain from reckless speculation about their private life. We also sincerely ask you all to refrain from actions that could harm both the artist and the other individual mentioned."

theqoo

-What's wrong with his way of speaking? He's in his 30s and has finished his military service, yet he says being an adult is not easy?

-I'm flustered...

-His way of speaking is so freaking weird.

-Ugh... Please just stay quiet.

-I used to like him back then... But now I see what kind of person he is.

-Classic avoidant. His way of speaking is so weird, there's just no substance.

-I wish his ex-girlfriend happiness and success.

-Whoa... I've lost al my respect for him.

-If you're in you 30s and have finished your military service, you're basically fully an adult.

-What's with the photo, though?? Was it intentional?

-I'm not even a fan, but I think the hate comments are crossing the lines...

-Has he always been that avoidant?

-Legendary avoidant Hannam. I feel so... So... Sorry for the woman.

-Honestly, does he really deserve that much hate just because of this?

-I feel sorry for the woman. She's been dragged through this for years.

Comments on Song Daeun-related articles and Youtube videos

-Our Jimin-ie, let's improve your taste in women. Seriously, what is that?~ I know that you guys are at the age to be dating now~ But if you're going to date, please choose someone kind and decent. Please~

-What the hell is wrong with her?? He got involved with the wrong person.

-Jimin-ah, I may not have early as much money as you, but as a senior from your hometown, Geumjeong-gu, Busan, who has been happily married for 7 years.. Let me just say one thing. Now that you're past 30, don't just look at appearances. I hope you find a woman with a mature personality that you can spend your whole life with. I'm rooting for you.

Son! I'm an ARMY mom who has been watching over our Jimin since 2013. It truly breaks my heart that we're facing this major disaster right now, especially when we've been looking forward to the spring of 2026ㅠ

I was also not great at judgng people in my early 30s. But you're not living a regular life, you have the life of a BTS' member. Considering what lies ahead, I honestly think marriage should be put off for a few more years. Of course, whoever you choose is ultimately up to you, my precious son Jmin, but still I don't think now is the right time.

Realistically, 2026 is going to be such a crucial time for BTS as you start anew. So, I hope you'll be more cautious and considerate in everything you do, so that it will not tarnish this precious time.

As you live and gain more experiences, your eye for people and judgment will naturally improve too. So, don't let this situation discourage and hurt you. With your good character, I hope you'll discuss this matter with your company and respond wisely. Whatever happens, life is all about learning and growing until the day we die. So don't be discouraged, hurt, worried, or disappointed. Handle this wisely and become our strong Jimin once again. I'm cheering on you with all my heart. Cheer up! Okay?

...🤷‍♀️

theqoo

-So, most of his fans are middle-aged women in their 40s and 50s?

-Ugh, this is really disgusting.

-Ew... I wanna throw up.

-Even within ARMYs, Jimin's fans are generally the oldest and most aggressive ones. I'm saying this from experience. They treat women like they're mentally unstable or low-class. They seem to not realize that they're embarrassng themselves.

-They really sound like mothers talking to their own sons. They must be in their 50s or 60s.

-What even is this??

-Dating is between two people. Why are they acting like this?

-This makes me want to unstan the groupㅠㅠ

-What the hell?ㅋㅋㅋ He finished his miltary service and he's not even that young anymore. Of course he can date. It's not like he's a teenager or in his early 20s. What is wrong with them?

-This seriously gives off mother-in-law vibesㅋㅋㅋ

-Wowㅋㅋ ARMY Moms, can you stop slandering someone else's precious daughter then?

-ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ This is so freaking hilariousㅠ

-I'm a fan too but... What the hell is this??

-Just raise your own children properly...

-Even Jimin's real mom isn't acting like this...

"Song Daeun-BTS Jimin dating rumors are false, did a live stream with real boyfriend" ... 3 key pieces of evidence revealed

https://m.entertain.naver.com/home/article/076/0004317113

Claims have surfaced denying the dating rumors between BTS' member, Jimin, and 'Heart Signal 2' cast member, Song Daeun.

On the 28th, a post on a social media believed to belong to an international fan stated, "Song Daeun did a 3 hour live broadcast on SNS yesterday (27th)." The video shows Song Daeun having a cheerful conversation with a man, using heartr emojis. Her hairstyle in the video looks similar to a recent selfie she posted on her personal account, suggesting that the video was filmed recently.

Other netizens pointed out, "Song Daeun one claimed that she was being stalked for dating an idol, and after that she did a live broadcast while drunk at 4 AM," and "Jimin moved to Nine One Hannam in 2021. However, Song Daeun has posted several photos that suggest she was dating someone who lived there as early as 2019."

In response to these claims, both Song Daeun and Jimin's sides have remained silent.

Song Daeun recently caused a stir by posting a video on her account that seemed to be a home date with Jimin. The video showed Jimin getting out of an elevator saying, "Oh, you surprised me. Did you know I was coming? I didn't tell you on purpose." The elevator interior clearly shows the name "Nine One Hannam," the apartment where Jimin is known to live in, drawing attention.

The speculation intensified because Song Daeun had been subtly dropping hints about their relationship since the first dating rumors surfaced in June 2022, such as posting photos on her account that showed parts of a man's body believed to be Jimin's and an earphone case with the initials 'Daeun' and 'Jimin.'

In response to this, Song Daeun publicly exposed malicious comments she received from netizens and took legal action in May last year. Then in June, she posted a warning saying, "Just because the idol you like loves me, doesn't mean I deserve hate. You don't know what I might expose if I really get angry."

Amid these new claims that the dating rumors were false and that she's actually seeing someone else, all eyes are on whether Song Daeun and Jimin's sides will finally speak up.

Meanwhile, Jimin has been in the U.S. since July, reportedly working on BTS’s comeback album.

theqoo

-Ugh... I really feel bad for that woman.

-I seriously hope HYBE flops.

-This is so cruel. Just go public with the relationship. What did the woman do wrong to deserve this?

-I mean... The video clearly showed Jimin's face and voice. How can they deny it?ㅋㅋㅋㅋ

-Park Jimin is such a coward. He's making his girlfriend look stupid and hiding behind his company. What is he doing?

-I'm worried about her... Why is she getting attacked like this?

-This is disgusting... Protect her...

-Why would they even write an article about something like this?ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

-Can't Jimin just release a statement? Can't he even show that much consideration?

-Even after all this... Are you still going to say that Jimin is a victim of HYBE?

-I wonder if she's in a good mental state... This is way too far.

-Jimin needs to release a statement quickly... There are a lot of weird articles spreading right now.

-The whole situation is getting bigger and bigger.

-She's suffering because she got involved with the wrong guy..

-I’m genuinely worried she might do something bad to herself...
