On December 17, Na In Woo’s agency Hanada Company revealed, "Na Inwoo classified as a Level 4 and was waiting for a call-up notice from the Military Manpower Administration. However, after three years without receiving any notices, he has been exempted from military service." According to the Military Service Act, if an individual who is classified as Level 4 does not get called up within three years, they are automatically exempted from the military service. Approximately 10,000 individuals received this exemption this year, including Na Inwoo.

The exact reason for Na Inwoo’s Level 4 classification have not been clearly revealed, leading to divided public opinion. While some view it as simply administrative luck, others are harshly criticizing him. Especially in light of Dispatch's report about allegations of improper service involving singer Song Mino, who was nearing release from his social service role.

Adding to the controversy, Na Inwoo’s departure from KBS2’s variety show '2 Days & 1 Night' in June due to drama filming and military enlistment has left a bitter aftertaste. As the replacement for actor Kim Seonho, Na Inwoo joined the program in 2022, quickly winning hearts with his innocent and quirky personality. During his final episode, he bowed deeply to the viewers, saying, “Thanks to the viewers, I had so much fun traveling. Although I was inexperienced, I’m proud to have shown growth. I sincerely thank you all.” However, for fans who tearfully bid farewell to Na Inwoo, the sudden revelation of his military exemption after over five months of silence has come as a shock. Given his lovely and approachable image, it's even more disappointing that he's been caught up in the military service controversy, one of the most sensitive issues for male celebrities.

'2 Days 1 Night' is also the program where Ravi, a former member of the group VIXX who was indicted for attempting to evade military service by faking a mental illness last year, was a regular member. Ravi left the show in May 2022, saying, "Before I met this program, the world was too difficult. There were so many places I couldn't go to and things I couldn't eat." He added, "I sincerely thank you for your love and guidance for the past nearly three years. I will miss you very much." However, these tears turned into betrayal and shock eight months after his departure when suspicions of military service fraud surfaced. Ravi, who was indicted for submitting a false medical certificate to the Military Manpower Administration, pretending to be an epileptic patient, was sentenced to one year in prison with a two-year probation and did not appeal, making the sentence final. Goo, the military broker who helped Ravi commit the crime, was sentenced to five years in prison and ordered to pay a fine of over 1.3 Billion KRW.

 Hello. This is Ravi. 

First of all, I would like to apologize to everyone who has been harmed and hurt by my actions. 

In the past, I was diagnosed with an illness and received a judgment that allowed me to serve as a social worker and postpone my enlistment to military service. However, I reached a point where it became difficult to postpone my enlistment any further. At that time, I was the only artist generating income for the company and the fulfillment dates of contracts signed before the COVID-19 pandemic kept getting delayed without any promise. I was very desperate to postpone my enlistment due to the burden of the penalties. 

Due to my desperate situation, I made a foolish decision. After resolving my concerns about the company and contract-related matters, I voluntarily applied for social service duty and have been fulfilling my military duty since October last year. 

I want to sincerely apologize to all the epilepsy patients and their families who may have been hurt by me, who rationalized myself in this process and made the wrong choice. I also want to apologize to all the people who are currently fulfilling their duties in the military service with sincerity. 

Furthermore, I sincerely apologize for causing pain to all those who were hurt by me and to all fans who have supported me passionately for a long time. It wrenches my heart to see all the time we spent together crumble away. 

I wanted to be someone you can be proud of, I am really ashamed of this disgraceful side of mine. I feel like I'm not worth the precious hearts you have devoted a lot of time. 

Lastly, in order to prevent any further damage to VIXX's members who were harmed by my mistake, I have decided to withdraw from the team. For 11 years, I am sincerely grateful to all the members who have been with me despite the fact that I'm still lacking a lot. I feel deeply sorry. I sincerely hope that the precious efforts of the members will no longer be harmed because of me. 

I am still lacking in a lot and I still have a lot to learn. I believe all the criticism I receive is the consequence I should bear. If you criticize me, I will learn and reflect even more deeply.

I am well aware that my apologies and words can't make my mistakes disappear. I will continue to remember this moment and strive to learn so I can grow and improve to become a better person. I sincerely apologize.

Taeyeon-Ravi, it's not a problem and they did nothing wrong

 

There are two people who can't enjoy their Christmas because of an issue that spreads about them. Those two people are Taeyeon and Ravi. They were involved in a dating rumor and their names quickly became the most searched keyword in searching engines. 

The topic of this article is very simple. No matter what scenario that happens, this is not a problem and the two of them did nothing wrong.

When a dating rumor surfaces, there are three scenarios that might happen. First, the couple who confirms the rumor because they're actually in relationship. Second, the couple who denies the rumor even though they're actually in relationship. Third, the couple who denies the rumor because they're not in relationship.

When a couple of artists deny a dating rumor, there would be some people who point finger and say, 'You guys are actually dating!!'. What happens to Taeyeon and Ravi is one of those cases. It's very hard to understand what those accusations mean. 

Hiding a relationship is something that a lot of people do, not only celebrities. The reason may vary, but most of the time it's because they don't want to risk themselves by going public with their relationship. This reason is very understandable. 

When a couple is at risk on being exposed, they might lie a little bit and use some techniques to avoid being exposed. We can't quickly judge them for being problematic just because they lie about that, this has nothing to do with morals. 

Even if celebrities lie about their relationship, it will not affect the economy, society, laws, and moral values. Why? Because it's their privacy

However, this article wasn't written to say that Taeyeon and Ravi are denying the rumor despite being in an actual relationship. This article was written to say that even if they're actually dating, it's not a big problem. 

This article was also written for people who argue, 'Why are they lying if they're actually dating?'. It's because they don't need to reveal the relationship that they want to keep private and not be talked about. 

Let's think if this happens to a non-celebrity. A and B are work colleagues and they're in a relationship. They don't have any thoughts to reveal their relationship, at least not until their wedding. 

However, an acquaintance who they're not even close to, C, suddenly go into an investigation mode. C finds out their relationship and reveal it to the other acquaintances. 

You can learn a lot from this whole situation. Not only from the words that are said, but also from physical gestures that are done. Obviously, this situation harms the relationship between them. If you look closely, can you see who's the problematic one here? Is it A, B, or C?

You might think, 'Non-celebrities are not like celebrities', or 'They're celebrities. They should be able to handle such issues', as seen in a lot of comments left by netizens on the Internet. Just think about how much harm those mindsets cause the involved figures, it shouldn't be that hard.
