The purpose of Min Heejin's emergency press conference = To expose NewJeans' members' families ... "Used for stock price manipulation"

Former ADOR CEO Min Heejin's side claimed that a family member of NewJeans' member was involved in the background of the alleged 'NewJeans tampering' controversy.

Min Heejin's legal representative lawyer Kim Sunwoong from the law firm Jiam held an emergency press conference on the afternoon of the 28th in Jongno-gu, Seoul.

Min Heejin did not attend the press conference. Regarding the reason, Lawyer Kim said, "There are some problems involving NewJeans member's family."

He explained, "These matters are difficult to talk about. She recently heard an information and was deeply shocked by it. Because of that, she was unable to appear."

Min Heejin's side stated, "She has no responsibility for the tampering at all. Instead, she was used by groups that are trying to disrupt the stock market." They added, "A family member of one of the NewJeans' members is involved. That is why she couldn't respond properly at the time. Due to a series of recent incidents, we decided to hold this press conference."

Lawyer Kim shared, "Even in the lawsuits between Min Heejin and HYBE, there have been attempt to use the members' families. This is why we had no choice but to state a basic statement about this." He continued, "We have discovered evidence that the 'NewJeans tampering' issue was used by people in the stock market as a tool to make money for themselves, exploiting both Min Heejin and NewJeans' members."

Meanwhile, the five members of NewJeans declared the termination of their exclusive contracts with ADOR back in November 2024 due to a loss of trust. However, in October last year, the court rejected their claims and ruled that their exclusive contracts with ADOR remain valid until July 31, 2029.

Afterward, Haerin and Hyein were the first members to return, followed by Hanni. Minji is currently in discussions with ADOR. On the other hand, ADOR notified Danielle of contract termination and removed her from the group. ADOR has filed a lawsuit seeking 43.1 billion KRW in damages against Danielle, one of her family members, and former CEO Min Heejin.

Min Heejin fainted after listening to a recording of NewJeans member's uncle

SOURCE: "민희진, 뉴진스 멤버 큰아버지 녹취록 듣고 실신"

It has been reported that former ADOR CEO Min Heejin fainted in shock after realizing she had been taken advantage of.

On January 28, Min Heejin's legal representative attorney Kim Sunwoong from the law firm Jiam held a press conference in Jongno-gu, Seoul. Investigative journalism 'The Gate' also attended the press conference and released an audio recording involving Mr. Lee, the uncle of a NewJeans' member.

The head of 'The Gate' criticized the situation, saying, "We live in an era where incidents like this are brushed off as a no big deal, allowing troublemakers to move around freely. While reporting on Min Heejin, I asked why she remained silent for over a year. Her answer was always the same: because she was afraid the members would get hurt. Even though she suffered from a neurasthenia and even came close to death, she stayed silent to protect the members and their families."

He continued, "We shared the recording file of the member's uncle with the lawyer.. We heard that Min Heejin fainted after hearing him say it was 'no big deal.' She fainted because the families she wanted to protect were laughing and dismissing the situation as 'no big deal.' We plan to continue tracking these market-disrupting forces in the capital market that are messing the K-pop industry."

According to the recording shared that day, Mr. Lee, the uncle of a NewJeans' member, responded to a question about why he stayed silent if Min Heejin didn't actually engage in tampering the group. He replied, "It was no big deal, so I just let it go."

Meanwhile, Min Heejin's side claimed, "The truth behind NewJeans 'tampering' allegations has nothing to do with former ADOR CEO Min Heejin. It was a large-scale scam played on the public by a family member of one NewJeans' member and a specific businessman. They allegedly did this to boost stock prices or manipulate the market."

The birth of the second 'Infinite Challenge?' ... Kim Taeho PD returns to MBC with a 'crazy lineup' oh Jennie, Dex, and Lee Suji

SOURCE: 제2의 '무한도전' 탄생?…김태호 PD, 제니·덱스·이수지 '미친 조합'으로 MBC 컴백

MBC's new show 'Manitto Club' (directed by Kim Taeho) will start airing on Sunday, February 1, at 6.10 PM (KST). It is an undercover reality variety show built around the concept of 'a group of people who know how to share two when they receive one.' The cast members are randomly assigned 'manitto' and must give gifts while keeping their identities hidden. The first lineup includes Jennie, Dex, Choo Sunghoon, Noh Hongchul, and Lee Suji.

The most unique part of 'Manitto Club' is its story world. In its worldview, characters like Santa, Genie, and even the Snail Bride, are all members of the 'Manitto Club.' They work at secret headquarters located around the world and blend into everyday life to give gifts secretly. The one and only rule is not to get caught. Since the world has less laughter and warmth now, the Korean headquarters is recruiting new members to start the story.

The new recruits who receive invitations must complete both individual and group secret missions assigned by headquarters to become official members. The privilege of becoming an official member is feeling the joy of both giving and receiving. This story was first shown in a teaser video with Jennie as the storyteller, which drew attention before the show even started.

The secret missions are unpredictable from the very first meeting. To avoid exposing their identities, the five new members join a video chat using animal filters. Because they don't know who is who, unexpected accidents happen. Even the production team got nervous when some members almost got their identities discovered.

The manitto draw is done through a random gacha-style. Because the members don't know who their partners are in real-time, it causes excitement and tension both at the same time. During the gift delivery process, there are even chase scenes, promising legendary funny moments to come. Viewers are excited to see how this pure-dopamine secret gift mission will work.

The stars' surprising charms are another key highlight of the show. Jennie, Dex, Choo Sunghoon, Noh Hongchul, and Lee Suji become very emotional over even small gifts. Viewers will be able to see their honest, human sides, which are different from their usual images on stages, match, or TV.

After the individual missions ends, they will start their group missions. The members go on secret missions to give a special day to more people, bringing both laughter and heartwarming moments. They will show off their unique ideas and donate their talents in fun ways while sharing the love they received.

With the members showing great chemistry during their chaotic missions, 'Manitto Club' aims to give both laughs and touching moments. MBC's 'Manitto Club,' starring Jennie, Dex, Choo Sunghoon, Noh Hongchul, and Lee Suji will start airing on Sunday, February 1, at 6.10 PM (KST).

Cha Eunwoo's 992-word statement couldn't stop big brands from cutting ties ... Beauty, finance, fashion, education are all 'OUT'

SOURCE: [단독] 차은우 992字 입장 발표, 대기업 손절 못 막았다…뷰티·금융·패션·교육 이어 OUT (종합)

Advertising industry is starting to distance themselves from Cha Eunwoo, who is now facing allegations of tax evasion amounting to 20 billion KRW. Following beauty, finance, fashion, and education brands, even subsidiaries of large corporations are now choosing to 'cut ties,' showing how serious this situation is.

According to OSEN on the 27th, SSG.com has switched their videos that featured Cha Eunwoo, who was chosen as their beauty model last year, to private. While the company did not give a specific reason, but because this happened right after the 20 billion KRW tax evasion allegations, people assume it is because of the controversy.

This is not the first time brands have distanced themselves from Cha Eunwoo. Previously, the skincare brand Abib has set his ad videos and posts to private, followed by Shinhan Bank, Marithé François Girbaud, and Daesung Mimac, across the finance, fashion, and education sectors. Notably, even after Cha Eunwoo and his agency, Fantagio, released their official statements, SSG.com still made his ads private. In addition, the Ministry of National Defense, where Cha Eunwoo is currently serving, also set his content on the 'KFN Plus' Youtube channel to private.

Last year, the Investigation Bureau 4 of the Seoul Regional Tax Office investigated Cha Eunwoo for allegedly evading taxes through a one-person company started by his mother. It is reported that he worked under a contract where his agency, Fantagio, and his mother's company entered into service contracts, where his income was then distributed among Fantagio, his mother's company, and Cha Eunwoo himself.

However, the National Tax Service saw the one-person agency set up by Cha Eunwoo's mother as a paper company that didn't actually provide real service. The authorities judged that Cha Eunwoo and his mother started the company and split his income to reduce the personal income tax rate by applying a corporate tax rate which is more than 20 percentage points lower.

Regarding this, Cha Eunwoo's side stated, "The main issue in this matter is whether the company started by his mother is a real business that should be taxed. This is not a final decision yet. We will explain our position through proper legal procedures. The artist and his tax representatives will cooperate fully to finish this process quickly."

On the 26th, four days after the controversy erupted, Cha Eunwoo stated, "I sincerely bow my head in apology for causing concern and disappointment to many people due to recent issues. This incident has led me to deeply reflect on whether my attitude toward fulfilling my duty to pay taxes as the citizen of the Republic of Korea was sufficiently strict." Fantagio also added, "We will use this incident as an opportunity to review our artist management system once again and strengthen necessary measures to prevent similar controversies from recurring."

On the 27th, Fantagio released another statement saying, "We are currently checking the facts according to the tax authorities. Both the agency and the artists are cooperating with the investigation. Once the legal and administrative judgments are clear, we will take responsibility and carry out necessary measures according to the results. We kindly ask people to stop spreading speculation, unverified information, and exaggerated interpretation regarding claims and suspicions."

Park Eunbin cheered for 'Cha Eunwoo to return in glory' ... What happens to his upcoming project 'The Wonderfools'?

SOURCE: 박은빈 "차은우 금의환향하길" 응원했는데…차기작 '원더풀스' 어쩌나

As Cha Eunwoo faces allegations of tax evasion amounting to around 20 billion KRW, his upcoming project 'The Wonderfools' is now facing problems.

Last year, the Investigation Bureau 4 of Seoul Regional Tax Office did an intensive investigation on suspicion of tax evasion. Recently, news reports revealed that he was notified of additional tax assessment of over 20 billion KRW, including income tax.

Cha Eunwoo, who is currently serving in the military, issued an apology on January 26 via his personal social media account, stating, "I sincerely bow my head in apology for causing worry and disappointment to many people through the various events related to me recently. Through this incident, I have been deeply reflecting on whether I have been strict enough in fulfilling my duty as a citizen of the Republic of Korea to pay taxes."

He continued, "I will faithfully cooperate in the upcoming tax-related procedures. Also, I will humbly accept the final decision made by the authorities and take full responsibility for the results." Regarding allegations that he enlisted in the military to avoid the controversy, he explained, "Although I'm currently serving in the military, it was definitely not a choice I made to hide from this controversy. Last year, I reached a point where I could no longer delay my enlistment. So, I had to enlist before the tax investigation was finished. However, I know these misunderstandings happened because of my own shortcomings. Therefore, I feel a deep sense of responsibility."

Cha Eunwoo is currently waiting for the release of Netflix's new series, 'The Wonderfools,' which is scheduled for release in the Q2 of this year. The series is a comedy-action adventure set in 1999, a time when apocalyptic beliefs were widespread. It follows the story of a group of ordinary neighborhood misfits who unexpectedly gain superpowers and fight against villains threatening the peace of Haeseong City. It is starred by Cha Eunwoo, Park Eunbin, Kim Haesook, Choi Daehoon, Lim Sungjae, and Son Hyunjoo.

Recently, Park Eunbin attended the 'Next on Netflix 2026 Korea' event and cheered for Cha Eunwoo by saying, "I don't think any other actor could play this role better than him. I believe he's doing well wherever he is. I wish we could've promoted this show together, but I'll work hard on his behalf as well. I hope he returns in glory. Fighting." However, now the tax evasion allegations are out, attention has now focused on whether this upcoming project will still be released or not.

"The original target wasn't Cha Eunwoo, but Fantagio" ... Even a former NTS investigator is stunned by the '20 billion KRW tax evasion'

SOURCE: "원래 타깃은 차은우 아닌 '몸통' 판타지오였다"..전 국세청 조사관도 놀란 '200억 탈세'[스타이슈]

Cha Eunwoo is making headlines every day for allegations of evading roughly 20 billion KRW in income taxes. Amid this, a former National Tax Service investigator-turned-accountant analyzed that the National Tax Service's original target was actually his agency, Fantagio.

On the 24th, Moon Bora, a tax accountant who used to work as an investigator at the Seoul Regional Tax Office, posted a video on her Youtube channel analyzing Cha Eunwoo's '20 billion KRW tax evasion allegations' case.

Moon Bora explained that the main issue of this controversy is whether Company A, which was involved in the profit-sharing process, is real. She explained, "Splitting profits with a company is not a problem, but the National Tax Service sees Company A, which is owned by Cha Eunwoo's mother, as a fake company that doesn't actually do any works."

Regarding Company A's conversion from a 'Corporation' to a 'Limited Liability Company (LLC),' Moon Bora analyzed, "LLCs do not have the obligations to show their records to the public. They are not subject to external audits." She added, "The National Tax Service likely saw this as a choice to hide something and avoid being watched, rather than just a way to save on taxes."

She continued, "The original target was actually Fantagio, which is Cha Eunwoo's agency. while examining the books of the biggest 'body,' Fantagio, they found a huge amount of money flowing to an eel restaurant in Ganghwa Island, and discovered that it actually belonged to Cha Eunwoo."

She noted, "They threw a net to catch a big fish and ended up catching another huge one. Tax investigations are not something you can avoid just by being careful. If you leave a long trail, you will eventually get caught."

Recently, it was revealed that Cha Eunwoo was notified by the National Tax Service of an additional tax assessment of over 20 billion KRW, causing a major stir. It was reported that he underwent an intensive tax investigation by the Seoul Regional Tax Office in the first half of last year on suspicion of tax evasion.

Specifically, the National Tax Service believed that the evasion happened through Company A, which was established by Cha Eunwoo's mother. Cha Eunwoo reportedly worked in a way where Fantagio and Company A signed service contracts to support his entertainment activities, with profits distributed between Fantagio, Company A, and Cha Eunwoo himself.

The National Tax Service believes Company A is a fake company used to split income because it's unsuitable to manage celebrities. They believe that Cha Eunwoo used his family-owned business in addition to his main agency to enter into service contracts, where he can apply a corporate tax more than 20 percentage points lower instead of the 45% individual tax rate.

Regarding this, Fantagio stated, "The main issue here is whether the company started by Cha Eunwoo's mother qualifies as a business that should be taxed. The case has not been finally confirmed yet. We will actively explain our position on the legal interpretation and application according to the law."

Meanwhile, Cha Eunwoo enlisted in the military in July of last year and is currently serving in the military band.

Cha Eunwoo, who has been facing allegations of 20 billion KRW in tax evasion, has released an official statement.

On the 26th, Cha Eunwoo posted a long message on his social media, saying, "I sincerely bow my head in apology for causing worry and disappointment to many people through the various events related to me recently."

He continued, "Through this incident, I have been deeply reflecting on whether I have been strict enough in fulfilling my duty as a citizen of the Republic of Korea to pay taxes." He aded, "I worried that a long statement might sound like an excuse or even cause further fatigue, but I felt it was the right thing to speak and apologize directly regarding this matter."

Cha Eunwoo explained, "I'm writing this after finishing my daily duties at the military base. Although I'm currently serving in the military, it was definitely not a choice I made to hide from this controversy. Last year, I reached a point where I could no longer delay my enlistment. So, I had to enlist before the tax investigation was finished."

He also said, "However, I know these misunderstandings happened because of my own shortcomings. Therefore, I feel a deep sense of responsibility. If I were not serving as a soldier right now, I would want to personally visit and bow in apology to everyone who was harmed by this situation. I am writing these words with my utmost sincerity."

Cha Eunwo emphasized, "I will faithfully cooperate in the upcoming tax-related procedures. Also, I will humbly accept the final decision made by the authorities and take full responsibility for the results."

Cha Eunwoo → His mother, and now even his younger brother ... The whole family linked to the '20 billion KRW tax evasion allegations'

SOURCE: 차은우→모친 이어 남동생까지…온 가족 연루된 '200억 탈세 의혹'

As Cha Eunwoo faces the record-breaking 20 billion KRW tax evasion allegations, past broadcast appearances by his younger brother, Lee, are drawing attention again.

Cha Eunwoo's younger brother, Lee, is famous among fans for his handsome looks comparable to his brother's and for being an AI expert who graduated from a prestigious university in China. Cha Eunwoo previously spoke proudly about his brother's background on tvN's 'You Quiz on the Block.'

Last November, Lee appeared as a speaker on the channel 'Sebasi Lecture.' He participated in the 'AI Summit Seoul & Expo 2025,' where he gave a talk titled 'AI Recipe: How the AI I created for my brother evolves into a brand verification tool.' The lecture drew even greater attention as it highlighted his relationship with the popular celebrity Cha Eunwoo.

In an interview before the talk, Lee explained his work, saying, "Since I've lived a life that's somewhat close to celebrities, I naturally became focused on their concerns and interests. I felt not only celebrities, but the entertainment industry as a whole struggles with issues related to data feedback. I thought it would be good to make a solution that gathers such data." He added, "I've seen many celebrities suffer from hate comments. And now, we live in an era where many people are now becoming influencers. As more people are now exposed to media and receive a lot of attention, I'm working with the CEO of Unbound Lab to create a system that protects them."

However, as Cha Eunwoo now faces the largest tax evasion in the Korean entertainment industry with total of 20 billion KRW, the public is now looking at the brothers coldly, even criticizing them as 'hypocritical.' Reports indicate that Cha Eunwoo's alleged tax evasion involved not only himself, but his entire family, including his parents and younger brother. It was confirmed that his mother served as the CEO, his younger brother as the director, and his father was also listed as an auditor of the company. Additionally, the eel restaurant in Ganghwa Island that Cha Eunwoo frequaently mentioned as his 'favorite spot' turned out to be the registered address of his mother's company, Company A. It was later revealed that the restaurant was not Cha Eunwoo's 'regular restaurant to eat,' but a business run by his parents, sparking further controversy over alleged 'fake promotion.'

Recently, it has been reported that Cha Eunwoo has hired a major law firm to deal with the tax allegations, drawing attention to how the situation will unfold.

She continued, "The emails you send to my college email address are all full of kind and nice words, but if there's something you want to say to me, you can write it on the DayOff app or anywhere else. But there may be times when I'm not in a great condition, so I ask for your understanding in advance." '20 billion KRW tax evasion allegations' Cha Eunwoo, recently returned from military leave ... Will he release a statement from the military?

SOURCE: [단독] '200억 탈세 논란' 차은우, 최근 휴가 후 복귀…군대서 직접 입장낼까

As 'soldier' Cha Eunwoo's past is being dug up and attention is focused on his every move, it has been reported that he recently took a leave from the military and has now returned to his unit.

According to OSEN on the 26th, Cha Eunwoo was confirmed to have taken a leave earlier this month and has now returned. Since he has been serving for about 6 to 7 months, he most likely took a regular leave and is believed to have spent the time privately.

Cha Eunwoo's recent leave came after he was notified by the National Tax Service of additional taxes exceeding 20 billion KRW. In just 2 weeks after he returned to his unit, the news broke and caused a major stir not only in the entertainment industry but to society as well.

Right now, Fantagio has remained silent beyond their initial statement, saying that they are 'unable to confirm anything.' As an active-duty soldier, Cha Eunwoo is also not in a position to freely engage in entertainment-related activities. However, given the seriousness of this matter, attention is focused on whether he will give a short statement through his agency or personally post an apology on the social media.

Meanwhile, before his enlistment in July last year, Cha Eunwoo was investigated by the Investigation Bureau 4 of the Seoul Regional Tax Office over alleged tax evasion. He was also notified of additional taxes exceeding 20 billion KRW. This is the largest tax fine ever imposed to a celebrity in South Korea.

Cha Eunwoo hires a major law firm over the '20 billion KRW tax evasion allegations' ... Prepares for a full-scale legal counteraction

SOURCE: [단독]'200억 탈세 의혹' 차은우, 대형 로펌 선임했다…본격 맞대응 준비

Cha Eunwoo has reportedly hired a major law firm after the National Tax Service ordered him to pay over 20 billion KRW in additional taxes on him over alleged tax evasion.

According to SPOTV News on the 26th, Cha Eunwoo hired the major law form Sejong and is preparing legal procedures to challenge the National Tax Service's decision. This is the same law firm that previously represented NewJeans in their contract termination lawsuit.

Last year, the Investigation Bureau 4 of the Seoul Regional Tax Office investigated allegations that Cha Eunwoo evaded taxes using the one-man agency established by his mother. He was later ordered to pay around 20 billion KRW in income tax. This is the largest amount of tax ever charged on a celebrity in South Korea.

Cha Eunwoo had been carrying out his activities where his agency, Fantagio, signed a contract with his mother's company to support his entertainment activities. The money he earned was then split between Fantagio, his mother's company, and Cha Eunwoo himself.

The National Tax Service believes that Cha Eunwoo's mother's company is a 'paper company' that doesn't actually do any real work. They believe that Cha Eunwoo and his mother set up the company and distributed income through it in order to pay a lower tax rate (around 25%) instead of the 45$ rate that individuals usually pay for high incomes.

Cha Eunwoo's side has filed a pre-assessment review (a preliminary procedure allowing taxpayers to challenge the legality of a tax notice and request correction. Fantagio stated, "They main issue here is whether the company started by Cha Eunwoo's mother qualifies as a business that should be taxed. The case has not been finally confirmed yet. We will actively explain our position on the legal interpretation and application according to the law."

Cha Eunwoo has now hired a major law firm for legal assistance. He is expected to prove that the company started by his mother is a real business that provided actual services, not just a fake company on paper.

Fantagio, who was also ordered to pay 8.2 billion KRW, has also hired another major law firm, Yulchon. The National Tax Service concluded that Fantagio had processed false tax invoices for Cha Eunwoo's mother's company. Fantagio has also filed a pre-assessment review, but was rejected by the National Tax Service.

When asked about hiring the law firm, Fantagio told SPOTV News, "We are unable to confirm this."

Cha Eunwoo enlisted in July last year and is currently serving on active duty. He has not yet made public statement regarding the tax evasion allegations.

SOURCE: 고윤정, ♥다정한 남자가 좋아…"표현 많이 해주면 잘 맞아"[인터뷰①]

Go Younjung opened up about her dating style.

On the 23rd, Go Younjung did an interview regarding the Netflix series 'Can This Love Be Translated?' at a cafe in Jongno-gu, Seoul. She greeted reporters with polished hair and makeup.

'Can This Love Be Translated?' is an unpredictable romantic comedy about Joo Hojin (played by Kim Seonho), a multilingual interpreter who works with global top star Cha Muhee (played by Go Younjung). In the drama, Go Younju plays as Cha Muhee, a world-famous global star, delicately portraying complex emotions behind her glamorous appearance.

After the show was released, some viewers described her character as an 'anxious-avoidant girlfriend.' She commented, "In real life, I think I'm closer to the 'secure' attachment type."

She continued, "I like someone who is kind. In the drama, Joo Hojin can seem a bit stiff because he lacks 'aegyo.' But I think I would like someone who is as kind and caring as Joo Hojin."

She further explained, "My real personality is actually closer to Joo Hojin than Cha Muhee. I'm not very good at expressing myself, so I think I would match someone who expresses themselves a lot." She added, "I'm a bit shy around new people, but once I get attached, it lasts a long time. It takes time for me to get close to people during a project. I always end up crying on the last day of filming. Kim Seonho Sunbae said this was the first time he ever cried at the end of a project too. I think I'm very affectionate."

'Kicked out from the industry' Breakdown of the 20 billion KRW tax evasion allegations surrounding Cha Eunwoo: "Shows signs of meticulous planning"

SOURCE: '연예계 퇴출위기' 차은우, 200억 탈세 해설판 나왔다 "치밀한 설계 보여" [Oh!쎈 이슈]

Attorney and also accountant Kim Myunggyu has recently posted a 'friendly guide' breakdown of Cha Eunwoo's 20 billion KRW tax evasion allegations for the general public from an expert perspective.

He wrote, "The news about a famous celebrity being ordered to pay 20 billion KRW is currently causing a big stir. Most people might think, 'Whoa, how much money did he earn for the tax alone to be 20 billion?' As an expert (attorney + accountant), let me break down what this number actually means." He continued, "This 20 billion KRW is not just the original tax that he was supposed to pay. The actual tax is about 10 to 14 billion KRW, and the rest is a fine (penalty tax). If the National Tax Service determines that 'you intentionally lied to us' to pay less, they can add a penalty of 40% on top of the original tax. On top of that, they can also add interest for being late. In other words, 6 to 10 billion out of the 20 billion KRW is essentially the 'price for lying.'"

Last year, Cha Eunwoo underwent an intensive investigation by Investigation Bureau 4 of the Seoul Regional Tax Office. Kim Myunggyu explained, "The fact that 'Investigation Bureau 4' was involved indicates that the National Tax Service sees this as an 'intentional tax evasion' rather than just a simple mistake." He added, "Why does this happen so much to actors? It's because of the difference in IP (Intellectual Property). For idols, they are like products created by a company. Therefore, the company owns the IP (like an employee). For actors, their body is their asset. Therefore, they own their IP (like a one-man agency). Cha Eunwoo is a unique case. He started as an idol (company IP), but has grown into a top actor now (personal IP). It seems he tried a common tax-saving method used by actors (setting up a one-man agency) at the point when he felt he was doing the acting work on his own. That is where the problem started."

He continued, "Many actors set up a 'one-man agency' to pay less tax. This is because they want to ay the corporate tax rate (10-20%) instead of the personal income tax rate (45%). However, for a corporation to be legal, it must be a real company. It needs employees and an offie. What often happens is that actors register the company under their family member's name and use their parents' restaurant or their own home as he office address. When the National Tax Service sees this, they think, 'This is just a shell, isn't it? The money was actually earned by the actor.' So, they cancel the corporate tax benefits and hit them with a massive income tax bill." He emphasized, "Everyone wants to save on taxes. But if you don't want to spend money to run a real business (like hiring staff or paying for an office) and only want the tax benefits, that becomes a 'tax evasion.' This greed of'I don't want to spend money, but I want the benefits' has come back like a giant 20 billion KRW boomerang. When it comes to taxes, even famous celebrities are not an exception. Let's do things the right way."

Kim Myunggyu later posted a follow-up post titled 'Friendly Guide for Non-Experts Part 2,' comparing the case by saying, "How is this case different from Honey Lee's or Yoo Junsang's? To put it simply, it's a fight on a completely different level of seriousness."

He explained, "In past cases like Honey Lee's, the issue was 'we just have different ideas about tax laws' (there's a room for argument). But in Cha Eunwoo's case, it's more like 'you hid this on purpose' (suspicion of a crime). Why did they change the company to a 'Limited Liability Company (LLC)? The most suspicious part is changing a perfectly normal stock company into an LLC." He continued, "The reason is simple: to avoid external audits. When a stock company makes a lot of money or owns many assets, it must be audited by external accountants and disclose their financial books to the public. However, an LLC doesn't have to be audited no matter how much money it makes. In other words, there is a clear sign that they switched to 'dark mode' because they don't want to show their financial books to the others. This is why the National Tax Service suspects they were 'hiding things on purpose.'"

However, Kim Myunggyu cautioned that Investigation Bureau 4 is not always right and that we should watch this case until the end. He emphasized that for now, this case is still just an 'allegation.'

Kim Myunggyu said, "Is there a possibility that Investigation Bureau 4 got it wrong? Of course. They are not right 100% of the time. In fact, in the first half of the year, they investigated a certain asset management company but found no evidence of tax evasion. So, the case was closed as 'not guilty' (no charges). If the investigation into Cha Eunwoo's case also fails to prove that he 'meant to hide it,' it could end with just a simple tax payment. For now, it's still at the 'allegation' stage."

However, he mentioned a lot of evidence, pointing out, "The traces are too clear. It's hard to be positive because the signs of a 'carefully designed plan' are vary specific." He noted, "They changed the company to a 'LLC' to avoid external audits. They also 'laundered' the address by registering the business at an eel restaurant in Ganghwa Island instead of Gangnam to avoid paying higher taxes. This looks like an 'organized and planned setup' that involved experts, rather than just a simple mistake."

Finally, he stated, "The conclusion (the main point to watch) is that the core of this case is not 'how much more tax will be paid,' but rather 'whether the intent to hide information is proven.'" He also said, "If these plans are judged as intentional tax evasion, it's a serious matter that could lead to not only a record-breaking fine but also a criminal report to the prosecutors. The line between simply saving on taxes and illegally avoiding taxes is now disappearing."

Meanwhile, the National Tax Service has determined that Company A, established by Cha Eunwoo's mother, is a paper company. Although the company signed a contract with Fantagio, the National Tax Service believes that it did not actually do any real work. It is reported that the authorities sees this as a trick. They believe Cha Eunwoo and his mother set up this fake company to split his income and avoid the high 45% personal income tax. By doing this, they were able to pay the corporate tax rate, which is more than 20% lower. The fine of over 20 billion KRW is the largest amount ever given to a celebrity in South Korea.

However, the 20 billion KRW fine for Cha Eunwoo has not been finalized yet. On the 22nd, Fantagio stated, "The main issue in this matter is whether the company established by Cha Eunwoo's mother is legally required to pay these taxes. Nothing is official or finished yet. We plan to actively clarify the issues regarding legal interpretation and application through lawful procedures." Fantagio continued, "The artist and his tax representatives will faithfully cooperate so that the procedure can be concluded quickly. Cha Eunwoo promises to continue to faithfully fulfill his tax filings and legal obligations as a citizen of the Republic of Korea."

Currently, Cha Eunwoo’s side is reportedly waiting for the results of a 'pre-assessment review' they requested in objection to the National Tax Service’s decision.

According to foreign media outlets on the 23rd, Rain singled outa female fan during one of his shows in 'Still Raining: Encore' tour held at the Taipei Arena in Taiwan on the 17th.

At the time, Rain was hyping up the audience by singing and encouraging them to dance to build excitement. He then noticed the fan filming with her phone instead of dancing and asked, "Why aren't you dancing?"

The interpreted translated his question into Chinese and the fan responded with a smile after gesturing toward her ear. However, Rain asked her to show a more passionate reaction before continuing the performance.

Two days later, the fan tagged Rain in a video of the moment posted on social media and explained what had happened.

The fan wrote in Chinese, "It's not that I wasn't dancing. I didn't understand what Rain and the interpreter was saying. I have a hearing impairment, so I need to read lips or have real-time captions."

She continued, "Rain stomped his foot in frustration and asked me to try again. Looking back, I realized I should've explained in sign language. I was worried I might be misunderstood as a fan who wasn't cooperating."

Upon seeing this, Rain immediately left an apology comment in Chinese. He wrote, "First of all, I'm truly sorry for not realizing that you couldn't hear. I was very inconsiderate and didn't think things through."

Rain also sent birthday wishes to the fan, who had mentioned that it was her birthday on the 19th. He added, "Although there was a small incident, it became a beautiful memory for both of us. I will be more careful in every aspect when performing in the future."

'330 edited' nude pictures of Aespa, NewJeans, and LE SSERAFIM ... The reason why the creator received a reduced sentence

SOURCE: 에스파·뉴진스·르세라핌에 '나체 합성' 330회…제작범, 감형받은 결정적 이유

A man who created and distributed sexually exploitative materials by editing the faces of members of famous idol groups such as Aespa, LE SSERAFIM, and NewJeans onto nude photos has been sentenced to prison with a suspended sentence.

According to legal sources on the 25th, the Uijeongbu District Court sentenced A, who was indicted without detention for violating the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes (editing and fabrication of false videos), to 1 year and 6 months in prison, suspended for 3 years.

The court also ordered A to complete 40 hours of lectures about sexual violence treatment and a 5-year employment ban at institutions related to children, adolescents, and the disabled.

A is accused of operating a Telegram chat room or about 4 months since December 2024. During this time, he allegedly created and posted over 300 fabricated videos by editing the faces of famous celebrities and his acquaintances onto nude photos. The content reportedly included members of popular idol groups such as Aespa, LE SSERAFIM, and NewJeans.

The court pointed out, "A committed serious wrongdoing by creating and posting fabricated videos capable of causing sexual humiliation to female celebrities and acquaintances for his own sexual satisfaction and vanity. The damage is significant given the possibility that these videos could be distributed indiscriminately."

The court also explained its reasoning behind the sentencing, saying, "The sentence was determined after considering all relevant circumstances. He reached a settlement with some of the victims. He is also a a first-time offender and he did not obtain financial gain from this."

Even elementary schools in Seoul face the shock of '0 new students'

SOURCE: 서울 초등학교도 '입학생 0명' 쇼크

Elementary school A in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, is surrounded by apartment complexes with more than 1,000 households, a department store, and a park. There is a middle school next door with around 600 students. There is also a high school nearby that is only 10 minutes walk away. Yet, elementary school A will begin the new school year this March with no new 1st grade students. Originally, 5 students were supposed to enroll to this school. However, they either moved overseas or chose different schools. Officials say there is no chance that any new students will enroll before the school year begins. An official from Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education explained, "Parents often choose other schools if there are only 1 or 2 children enroll in that grade in consideration of their children's school life."

As the school-age population in South Korea is declining rapidly, Seoul and Gwangju are expected to see elementary schools with 0 new students for the first time this year. According to data obtained from a member of National Assembly Education Committee, a total of 198 schools nationwide will have 0 new students this year. This is a 71% increase from 5 years ago in 2021 (116 schools). In addition, a total of 209 elementary schools nationwide will have only one 1st grade student. This is a 76% increase from 5 years ago.

According to the Ministry of Education, the estimated number of 1st graders entering elementary school in South Korea this year is 298,178. This is the first time the number of new elementary school students has fallen below 300,000.

◇Even a 100-year-old school that once had over 4,000 students now has 0 new students

The region with the largest number of elementary schools with 0 students this year was North Gyeongsang Province (38 schools), followed by South Jeolla Province (34 schools), North Jeolla Province (12 schols), and Gangwon and South Chungcheong Province (20 schools each). Meanwhile, the region with the largest number of elementary schools with only 1 new student this year was South Gyeongsang Province (38 schools), followed by North Jeolla Province (35 schools), South Jeolla Province (33 schools), and North Gyeongsang Province (29 schools).

This year marks the first time that elementary schools with no new students will appear in Seoul (1 school) and Gwangju (2 schools). In Seoul, there had been 4-5 school each year from 2021 to 2025 with 0 students, but it was because the schools temporary closed for construction. An official from Seoul Office of Education stated, "This is the first time that a normally operating elementary school in Seoul has had 0 new students."

In Gwangju, 2 schools with histories over 100 years will have 0 new students this year. Gwangju Jungang Elementary School once had more than 4,000 students, but last year they only had 1 first grader. To attract new students, the school even used its own budget to provide school supplies worth about 300,000 KRW per student and offered unique classes such as learning traditional instruments and village tours while wearing hanbok. Despite these efforts, the school still failed to find any new student this year. Meanwhile Samdo Elementary School had 10 new students last year, so it was unexpected for them to have 0 new students this year. An official from Gwangju Office of Education stated, "While this is a nationwide phenomenon, we were still surprised to see schools in Gwangju having 0 new students. It's time to discuss consolidating and merging small schools now."

In Busan, a city with population over 3 million, elementary schools with 0 new students have appeared consistently over the past 5 years. From 2021 to 2023, there was just 1 school each year. However, the number increased to 2 in 2024 and jumped to 5 in 2025. This year, 2 schools are expected to have 0 new students. An official from Busan Office of Education stated, "Both schools are located in areas where school-age population has declined significantly. Therefore, this situation is inevitable."

Even with local communities stepping up to avoid school closures, getting new students remains difficult. For example, Gwangmyeong Elementary School, the only school in the island, offered 3 million KRW to any student who enrolled or transferred. The school also offered yacht lessons and online English classes with native speakers. Last year, the school managed in getting 2 first graders. However, this year not a single student signed up. A school official stated, "We tried out best, but there are simply no children left to come to school. Once the 6th graders graduate, the total number of students will be just 12. It's heartbreaking how we won't even be able to hold an entrance ceremony."

In North Gyeongsang Province, a school called Jungsan Elementary has 14 students who are senior citizens aged 60 to 90. However, due to the impact of low birth rate, the number of school-age population declined. This leaves the school with only 8 students last year, fewer than the number of faculty and staff. As a result, the school has been operating as a branch school since this year. Talks about turning this school into a smaller branch started in 2024. However, senior students and local residents strongly opposed it and even reported the local education office to the police last month. They argued, "If the school becomes a branch, it will eventually lead to closure. If we count the senior students, we have more students than teacher. Therefore, the decision to convert this school into a branch school should be taken back." They expressed concern that if the school closed, the senior students will no longer be able to continue their studies. The North Gyeongsang Office of Education responded, "As the school-age population continues to decline, conversion to branch schools will inevitably increase. However, we can't count the senior students as this could be used as an excuse to stop conversion to branch schools or school consolidations. Therefore, it is difficult to accept this request."

'Marry to Match' Alleged mistress warned of legal action, but faces potential lawsuit from production team instead

SOURCE: ‘합숙 맞선’ 상간녀 의혹女, 법적대응 경고했는데 제작진에 손배소 위기

A contestant on SBS' 'Match to Marry' is being accused of having an affair with a married man. While she announced plans for legal action, attention is now focused on whether SBS might sue her for damages or not.

On a recent broadcast of JTBC's 'Crime Chief,' an informant claimed hat a woman who had an affair with her ex-husband is now starring in a dating show. That show was later identified as SBS' 'Match to Marry.'

Kim Taein, the woman that is named as the person of the affair allegations, posted on her social media on January 22, saying, "As incorrect information continues to spread and people are attacking me and my mother excessively, I'm releasing this statement after much deliberation."

Kim Taein claimed that the reports broadcasted by 'Crime Chief' were 'distorted and exaggerated.' She warned, "As excessive criticism continues and it's harming me and my mother mentally, my legal team will take action if hateful comments are not voluntarily deleted."

The production team of 'Match to Marry' stated, "To make sure viewers can watch the show comfortably, we have decided to completely remove her scenes from the remaining episodes." In the recent episodes, Kim Taein was almost entirely edited out and only appeared in wide shots.

In particular, the production team explained that they conducted pre-interview questionnaires and interviews while casting participants to make sure that there were no issues in the contestants' past or present backgrounds. They also noted that the consent form explicitly required contestants to state and guarantee that they hadn't been involved in crimes, drugs, adultery, school violence and similar matters. The contract also states that they have to pay penalties in the event of violations. As a result, the production team is now reportedly considering a lawsuit against Kim Taein.

'5 years in prison?' Can Cha Eunwoo escape the '20 billion KRW tax evasion allegations?' ... What are the key issues?

SOURCE: "징역 5년?" 차은우, '200억 탈세 혐의' 벗어날 수 있나…"핵심 쟁점은?"[MD이슈]

As Cha Eunwoo faces allegations of tax evasion totaling up to 20 billion KRW, attention is now shifting toward the potential severity of legal punishment. While the National Tax Service views this case as using a paper company to avoid tax, Cha Eunwoo's side firmly pushes back, stating that its management was conducted through lawful procedures.

Cha Eunwoo’s suspicious income structure

Last year, Cha Eunwoo underwent a tax audit by Investigation Division of the Seoul Regional Tax Office. Recently, he was ordered to pay around 20 billion KRW in additional taxes, including income tax.

The National Tax Service is taking issue with Cha Eunwoo's income structure. The company established by his mother, Company A, entered into a service contract with his agency to distribute profits. However, the National Tax Services judged Company A is a 'paper company' with no actual business operations. The allegation is that income that should've been taxed at the individual rate of 45% was instead directed into a company to avoid higher tax bill.

Denying: "It's a legitimate management done amid an unstable environment"

Regarding this, Company A stated, "With the agency's CEO constantly changing, (Cha Eunwoo's) mother personally stepped into the management to stabilize his entertainment activities. Company A is legally registered as a pop culture and arts planning business."

Fantagio also stated, "The main issue of this investigation is whether Company A should be taxed as a real business. As this matter hasn't yet been settled, we will actively explain our position through lawful procedures regarding the interpretation and application of the law."

Possibility of heavy sentence if the Aggravated Punishment Act applies .. The key is the burden of proof

Legal experts are paying close attention to the possible application of the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes because the unpaid tax amount reaches around 20 billion KRW. Under this law, if the amount of tax evaded is 1 billion KRW, the penalty can be life imprisonment or a prison sentence of 5 years or more.

In the end, the severity of punishment will depend on whether Company A truly did the work of a management company or not. If they fail to present evidence of real business activities such as contracts, work logs, payroll records, or office lease agreements, it will be difficult to shake off allegations of tax evasion.

As Cha Eunwoo has been widely loved for his 'upright and clean' image, both the entertainment and legal industry are watching closely to see how he handles and overcomes this 'tax evasion risk.'

'Beenzino♥' Michova eventually seeks psychiatric help … “I wondered if it was supposed to be this hard”

SOURCE: ‘빈지노♥’ 미초바, 결국 정신과 찾았다..“이렇게 힘든 게 맞냐고” [핫피플]

Stefanie Michova, a model and the wife of rapper Beenzino, has opened up about her postpartum depression and her journey through treatment.

On the 22nd, a video was uploaded to the YouTube showing Lee Jihye visiting Beenzino and Stefanie Michova at their home in Seongbuk-dong.

In the video, they naturally shared stories about childbirth and parenting, which led into a conversation about postpartum depression.

During the episode, Lee Jihye mentioned Michova’s previous confession, saying, "It broke my heart to see you crying while talking about postpartum depression in the previous video." Michova responded honestly, saying, "The major changes that happen during the newborn stage were truly difficult. It wasn’t easy losing my old self and finding a new version of myself."

She continued, "I thought I was going crazy. I kept wondering, ‘Am I the only one having such a hard time?’ At the time, I missed my mother so much that I cried every day." She also talked about the deep sense of loneliness she felt while giving birth and raising a child in a foreign country, saying, "I missed my mom, my family, and even German food. When things get hard, you end up missing the things you love even more."

Michova eventually went to the hospital and said, "I went to a psychiatrist and asked, 'Is it supposed to be this hard?' and they told me it was postpartum depression." She emphasized, "Going to the hospital isn’t something to be ashamed of. I believe asking for help when you need it makes you stronger." She added, "I've felt much better after starting treatment."

Listening to this, Lee Jihye offered words of comfort, saying, "It gets a little better once the baby turns one. The fact that you gave birth and are raising a child while living away from your family to be with the person you love is truly an incredible thing."

Meanwhile, Stefanie Michova married Beenzino in 2022 and became a mother after giving birth to their son, Rubin, in November 2024.

'20 billion KRW tax evasion allegations' Cha Eunwoo ... Suspicious address changes suggest deceptive tactics

SOURCE: [단독]'200억 탈세 의혹' 차은우, 꼼수 의심 수상한 주소 이전(종합)

While Cha Eunwoo is facing allegations of 20 billion KRW in tax evasion, he has failed to provide clear explanations regarding suspicious changes to the registered business addresses.

According to an investigation of the Pop Culture and Arts Information System on the 23rd, the management company established by Cha Eunwoo’s mother, 'Cha's Gallery,' was registered on June 15, 2022. However, the address was not in Ganghwa as previously known, but rather a building with 7 floors above ground and 2 underground levels located in Tongjin-eup, Gimpo, Gyeonggi Province.

The company later moved its registered address from Gimpo to Ganghwa-gun, Incheon. While its standard industrial classification is listed as 'management business,' the listed address in Ganghwa Island, is actually an eel restaurant that Cha Eunwoo's parents had operated for a long period until August of last year. This restaurant closed in August and relocated to Gangnam, Seoul. This means the eel restaurant had served as the registered address for Cha Eunwoo’s one-man agency. In September 2024, the company also changed its status from a joint-stock company to a limited liability company and changed its name.

Despite more evidence are surfacing, Cha Eunwoo’s agency has been unable to confirm any specific details. The agency says it is difficult to confirm matters with Cha Eunwoo because he is currently serving in the military, and that it is also difficult to confirm them with his mother.
