Kim Sohyun's awkward acting, Kim Taeri's overhyped acting ... Flaws of Twenty Five Twenty One

'Twenty Five Twenty One' aired their 4th episode on February 20, which got a viewer rating of 8.8% and continues to become the talk of the town. The drama takes place in 1998 currently receives attention for its heart-warming plot. However, the acting skills of Kim Sohyun and Kim Taeri, who both play the role of Na Heedo, receive criticism from netizens.

Kim Sohyun plays the role of adult Na Heedo. She debuted in a musical show 'The Phantom of The Opera' in 2001. She is known as a veteran actress in Korean musical shows, but her unexpected awkward acting in this drama takes netizens by surprise. Her exaggerated vocalization, expression, and gestures, as if she's in a musical show, distract netizens' immersion into the drama. This receives attention because it's below netizens' expectations of her acting skills.

Kim Sohyun doesn't star in dramas that much. She has appeared as guest in various variety shows. However, the last drama she starred in was The King and I that aired in 2007, 15 years ago. Because of that, some people are saying that she was 'mis-casted' by the production team.

Not only Kim Sohyun and her unexpected awkward acting, Kim Taeri also being talked because she couldn't meet netizens' expectations in this drama. She plays the role of young Na Heedo, which is the center of the drama that gets the most screen time. Her overhyped acting and vocalization have already been talked ever since the drama first aired.

Some say that she talks like how characters in comics would talk, instead of characters in dramas. Not only that, netizens also talk about how high-toned her voice is and how her expression and dialogue are not in sync. However, the role of Na Heedo was created by the production team, not Kim Taeri alone. This character sadly has became a flaw in her career, previously she started off her career in the movie 'The Handmaiden' and drama 'Mr. Sunshine' and has been bringing her own characteristics into the role she plays.

The drama received viewer rating of 6.4% on its first episode and 8.8% on its fourth episode, it's currently going higher as time passes by. It's the drama that has the highest rating among the other dramas on the same time plot. That's the reason why the acting skills of the main characters receive even bigger attention from netizens.

-Kim Taeri is a great actress. She's just Na Heedo herself.

-Kim Taeri's acting skill is good. Kim Sohyun's is indeed awkward but it doesn't matter because she barely gets any screen time.

-What are you talking about? Kim Taeri is a f*cking great actress.

-Kim Taeri looks like an actual high school student in this dramaㅋㅋㅋ Sometimes, she even looks like a middle school student. She's really cuteㅋㅋㅋㅋ

-Kim Taeri's acting is really good, she looks like an actual teenager in her 10s. She's just Na Heedo.

-Kim Taeri's acting somehow reminds me of Lee Sungkyung's role in Cheese In The Trap. Yes, it's that bad.

-It's my first time seeing Kim Taeri's acting. She suits the character really well, I really enjoy this drama.

-Kim Taeri's acting skill is good, Nam Joohyuk's is bad...

-I personally think Kim Taeri is a f*cking great actress but I can understand why some people don't like her acting skill...

-Her acting is too exaggerated, I can't bring myself to watch it...

-How is it possible for her to look that young...

-What are you talking about? I can understand the opinion on adult Na Heedo, but Kim Taeri does well on playing the role of young Na Heedo. She's so much better and more natural than I thought.

-I love Kim Taeri but honestly, I really don't like her character in this drama

-Her voice when she yells really bothers me. Besides that, I like everything about this drama.

-It was definitely exaggerated on the first episode. But it's getting more natural as time passes byㅋㅋㅋ
