Between the old passport and the new passport, which one is prettier?

Green: Old passport

Blue: New passport

theqoo

-The old one looks way more luxurious.

-Why did they move the text on the old one to the side? Centered design looks much more impactful.

-I still use the old passport.

-Definitely the new passport.

-The more I look at the old one, the prettier it seems.

-The design of the old one, but the color of the new one.

-When you compare them side by side, the new one is much prettier.

-The new one is much prettier.

-The inside of the new passport is really pretty. The cultural heritage pages are all unique and not repeated.

-The new one is pretty.

-I thought I liked the old one, but after switching to the new one, I like it moreㅋㅋ

-The old one has a prettier color.

-Color: new. Design: old.

Q. If you could save one couple from a tragic ending in a drama, who would you pick? 😭

Even couples where both the male and female leads died can be saved.

Actress in her 50s who is quietly taking the spotlight these days

None other than Park Jiyoung, known for her roles as a mom in K-dramas.

Lately, she’s been taking on quite important roles in the movies and dramas I’m watchingㅋㅋㅋ

Park Jiyoung, the top-class actress who had a stellar year in 2024

First, Park Jiyoung plays the role of Go Bonghee in the KBS 2TV weekend drama 'Iron Family.' She is at the center of the 'money bag incident.' Not only she's involved in the diverse stories between her in-laws and three siblings, she also serves as the connecting thread in the various stories centered around the money bag. Her powerful acting skills shine even more in the complex narrative of this weekend drama.

Meanwhile, in tvN's 'Love Next Door' which ended last October, she made viewers laugh and cry by portraying a 100% realistic mother. Her nagging brought humor and relatability as she reminded viewers of their own moms, but in moments of vulnerability, like when apologizing to her daughter, her emotional performance conveyed regret and sorrow, drawing audiences deeply into the story. Notably, she spent about 3 months learning to play the drums for her role in the drama, blending her character's emotions seamlessly with her instrument-playing skills, building the role with masterful detail.

In contrast to her TV roles, she is currently captivating audiences in the film 'The Hidden Face.' Playing Hyeyeon, the conductor and mother of Soo-yeon (played by Jo Yeojung), she adds depth to the character with her presence, portraying a woman who seems elegant yet radiates a strange sense of intimidation and discomfort. Additionally, in Coca-Cola’s recently released 'Coke & Meal' campaign, her piercing gaze conveyed credibility in just a brief moment, earning enthusiastic reactions from the production staff and elevating the ad.

She plays the role of Go Bonghee, the mother in 'Iron Family'

She played the role of Seokryu's mother, Misook-ssi, in 'Love Next Door' that just ended airing not too long ago.

She also played the role of Hyeyeon the conductor in 'The Hidden Face'

After the impeachment, she posted an Instagram story that said, "We made it happen"ㅋㅋㅋㅋ

theqoo

-She's an amazing actress and also absolutely gorgeous. So beautiful.

-Does anyone know the drama 'Tough Guy's Love'?ㅜ

-I like her...

-I’m so happy to see her starring in a lot of dramas these daysㅠㅠ

-She’s so beautiful!

-She’s such a great actress👍🏻👍🏻

-She’s so pretty.

-She’s an incredible actress.

-I really like Park Jiyoung.

-I absolutely love her... Her acting is amazing.

-She’s so beautiful and talented.

-I can’t believe she’s already in her 50s...

-So true, she’s such a great actress!

-Her acting is amazing, she’s elegant, and even her buck teeth suit her so well. Her younger sister is MBC announcer Park Hyejin. I like her too.

-She looked so breathtaking in the blue dress in 'Love Next Door'ㅠㅠㅠ

-She was in that drama with Lee Joongi and IU, right? She’s so perfect as a villain.

-She was so good in 'Jealousy Incarnation.'

Korean teens are the fattest in East Asia because of Malatang and Tanghulu

https://n.news.naver.com/article/011/0004428048?sid=103

Among the four East Asian countries – South Korea, China, Japan, and Taiwan – South Korea has the highest obesity rate among children and adolescents.

A joint research team led by Professor Hong Yong-hee from the Pediatrics Department at Soonchunhyang University Bucheon Hospital analyzed data from the "NCD Risk Factors Collaboration" to compare obesity rates in children and adolescents aged 5 to 19 in East Asia from 2010 to 2022.

The study found that South Korean teenagers had the highest rates of obesity and overweight rates among the four countries in 2022. About 43% of boys and 24.6% of girls were overweight or obese.

The popular foods among kids these days are basically calorie bombs.

theqoo

-Childhood obesity is just like a form of abuse...

-If 43% is considered obese, doesn't that mean almost half of teenage boys?

-Huh, but is it really that bad...? I didn’t think it was that bad.

-It’s not just what they eat, but they probably sit around too much...

-Exactly, kids today travel everywhere by car. They don’t walk much, and they don’t even have PE classes.

-Do you really think that's the only reason? It's also because kids these days don't move enough.

-Working out is more important than eating. They don’t move, so that’s why they get fat.

-Do you really think it's because of Malatang and Tanghulu? We had pizza and hamburgers back in our day too.

-In general, kids these days are getting chubbier. Childhood obesity will lead to health issues later, so they need to exercise.

-They should be focused on exercising, not studying.

-I once saw an article saying obesity was more common among the poor in the West. I feel like we’re heading in the same direction in Korea, though. I haven’t looked at the stats, but it seems to be true in my neighborhood.

-Most of them will probably end up obese when they grow up...ㅜㅜ

Chef Ahn Sungjae joins ‘GD and Friends’… First variety show appearance after 'Culinary Class Wars'

https://m.entertain.naver.com/article/241/0003401840

Chef Ahn Sungjae is set to join the new variety show 'GD and Friends.'

According to industry insiders on the 16th, Chef Ahn Sungjae will appear in Kim Taeho PD’s latest project, 'GD and Friends.'

GD and Friends is a new variety show created by producer Kim Taeho and singer G-Dragon. The show has been generating buzz not only for G-Dragon’s return to the entertainment scene after a seven-year hiatus but also for reuniting Kim Taeho PD with MBC following their success with 'Infinite Challenge.'

The show revolves around G-Dragon and features an exciting lineup, including Kim Soohyun, Hwang Jungmin, Jung Haein, Im Siwan, entertainers Jung Hyungdon and Jo Seho, as well as groups Aespa and DAY6. With Chef Ahn Sungjae, who rose to stardom this year through Netflix’s 'Culinary Class Wars,' now joining the cast, anticipation for the program has increased.

theqoo

-Looks like Kim Taeho isn't confident and is using guests to gain attention from the public.

-I’m honestly starting to get really curious, what kind of show is this?ㅋㅋ

-The show name is strange.

-What kind of show is this?

-GD will probably say a few words? Looking at the guests, this show might run for a year.

-The first episode will probably create a lot of buzz.

-At this point, I might end up starring in the show too.

-Is this like Family Outing?

-It looks like they’ll have a different guest each episode, so I’m curious what they’re planningㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

-I heard they're coming up with a new format. Besides, the lineup is very great. So I'm really looking forward to this.

-What is this show? It doesn’t seem like a talk show, so what is it?

-I didn’t watch 'Culinary Class Wars,' so I don’t know much about Chef Ahn Sungjae, but I’m still excited for this show.

-Kim Taeho said he was trying something new. I’m really curious what it will be.

-How many people are going to be on this show?

-It looks like guests will appear briefly one by one.

'Prepaid support' IU, Yuri, and NewJeans faces boycott... Backfires with massive support

Ilgan Sports | Journalist Park Seyeon

Stars like IU, SNSD Yuri, and NewJeans, who expressed solidarity with the impeachment protests against President Yoon Sukyeol, are facing calls for boycotts from some online communities. However, other netizens have responded with overwhelming support, vowing to counter these boycotts by boosting sales instead.

The protests, which began after President Yoon declared martial law, have been ongoing in Yeouido for two weeks. Various celebrities supported the protesting citizens by prepaying for meals and supplies. On December 13, IU’s agency shared a statement, saying, “We prepared food and hot packs at five stores in Yeouido, hoping to warm the frozen hands of UAENA (IU’s fandom) who have been holding their lightsticks in the cold.” IU prepaid for 200 pieces of bread, 100 rice cakes, 200 drinks, and 200 bowls of soup at local stores as a gesture of encouragement.

Similarly, film director Park Chanwook purchased all the bread from a bakery near the National Assembly and distributed it to protesters. SNSD's Yuri prepaid for Kimbap at a local store and expressed her gratitude to fans singing Into the New World at the protest. Meanwhile, NewJeans announced through their newly launched “NewJeanz” account that they had prepaid for 500 servings of food, including gimbap, drinks, and chicken soup, to support their fans attending the protests.

With the organizers estimating over 2 M participants in the Yeouido protests and polls showing overwhelming support for impeachment, the celebrities’ actions have been met with widespread applause from many netizens.

However, some netizens have proposed a boycott movement against IU, Yuri, and NewJeans by circulating the list of brands endorsed by the stars and encouraging others to avoid purchasing those products. The boycott suggestions quickly spread across online communities.

Yet, many netizens have criticized the boycott effort, arguing, “What does it matter if stars care about their fans?” “Don’t they know this is pointless?” “Let’s buy even more.” This sentiment appears to have turned the boycott into a backfire, with some brands reporting no significant impact on sales. A representative of one related brand told Ilgan Sports, “We’ve seen the reports but noticed no major changes in sales over the weekend.”

Meanwhile, on December 14, the National Assembly voted on the impeachment motion against President Yoon Sukyeol. Of 300 lawmakers, 204 voted in favor, 85 against, with 3 abstentions and 8 invalid votes. As a result, President Yoon’s duties have been suspended.

theqoo

-Look at them pretending to boycott something they never used to begin with!

-Sure, go ahead~~ And please don’t come to the concerts either^^

-.... Boycott? It's not like you've ever spent money on them anyway...ㅋ

-'Certain netizens' = incelsㅋㅋㅋ Can you even afford New Balance?ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

-I’ll buy stuff related to IU, NewJeans, and Yuri myself then!!

-They weren’t buying anything in the first place anywayㅋㅋㅋ

-Actually, this is great. Don’t f*cking come to the concerts or events so that I can get a spot.

-How can they boycott something when they never spent money on it to begin with?

-They were never the target audience anyway, so why are they making a fuss?

-'We’ve noticed no major sales impact over the weekend' ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

-ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ Step outside or spend some money before you talk.

-How exactly are these beggars going to boycott anything?ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

-You’d have to buy something first to boycott itㅋㅋ

-They're talking as if they were spending money in the first placeㅋ
