CW: Sexual assault
Seoul Jongno Police Station revealed that they are currently investigating allegations of attempted sexual assault against an elementary school teacher, Park, based on a complaint filed by a 26 year old, A. According to the complaint, Park allegedly lured A to a motel last month while pretending to give counseling about A's previous sexual harassment and sexual assault experience.
Previously, A reported being molested by Moon, a 30-year-old acquaintance she met at a church. Moon, an academy instructor in Nowon-gu, had allegedly embraced A from behind, stating, "It's been a while since I held a woman." A searched counseling for this incident, only to face another case of sexual assault. Both Park and Moon are identified as baptized Catholics.
Park is a homeroom teacher at an elementary school in Siheung, Gyeonggi Province. Park also serves as the director of the Human Rights and Daily Life department, addressing students' concerns related to sexuality and human right. Park is recognized as an educational influencer, managing a Facebook channel with over 5,000 followers. The interaction between A and Park started through social media. Right now, Park is still teaching, and regarding potential disciplinary actions, a representative from the school he works at mentioned that they would assess options upon receiving guidance from education authorities, stating, "This is the first case of sexual assault in our school and we are closely monitoring it."
Both Park and Moon have confessed to most of the charges. Park's legal representative stated, "It is true that Park and A did not have such a deep relationship to engage in sexual relations by mutual agreement. Park now has deactivated his personal social media accounts and will make efforts for resolution." While Moon expressed, "I am working to find a resolution."
On the other hand, A revealed, "Initially, both Park and Moon resisted admitting guilt. They only began to acknowledge the facts after I posted details of the incidents on social media. It is hard for me to know that, despite committing such wrong-doings, they are still portrayed as 'exemplary educators' by those around them."
