-Her Instagram followers have increased a lot.

-I didn't know much about her. I saw her for the first time in Squid Game. I'll be rooting for her!

-I didn’t have high expectations, but her acting was pretty good.

-Her acting felt natural, and her lines were clear and well-delivered. But her character didn't particularly standout. I’m looking forward to Season 3.

-She's so cute.

-Yuri is so adorable. She seems good at both singing and acting. I hope she gets more active in the future.

-I didn’t know who she was, so I thought she was just a rookie actress.

-Her acting skill is better than I expected.

-I like Jo Yuri. She’s cute, sings well, and her acting skill is quite good.

-She was the most charming character in the whole show.

-I was surprised to see how good her acting skill is in Work Later, Drink Now... It's surprising because I didn't see that coming from a main vocalist.

-I’ve completely fallen for her too.

-I’m curious about what will happen to her in Season 3.

-I like Jo Yuri, but I didn’t watch Squid Game because of the director, T.O.P, and Jun Jaejoon. Still, I'm glad to see her getting positive reactions.

-Seems like there are a lot of people jealous of her success.

K-Drama couples' age gaps that leave you speechless

Gong Yoo (79) - Kim Goeun (91)

12 years apart

Im Siwan (88) - Jo Yuri (01)

13 years apart

The second couple has an even bigger gap

theqoo

-I thought they were only 5 to 6 years apart... They have such baby faces.

-Whoa... Lim Siwan has a baby face...... I thought he was born in around 1992 to 1994.

-Whoa... Lim Siwan was born in 1988??

-??? Lim Siwan actually looks the same age as Jo Yuri.

-Hulㅋㅋㅋㅋ I thought the second couple was only 5 years apart.

-For me, Lim Siwan and Kim Soohyun are the ultimate baby faces... I still can't believe they're 38 y.oㅠㅠ

-No. Goblin is 2,000 years old.

-Jo Yuri is really young... I didn't realize she debuted at a very young age.

-I was watching Goblin on Netflix and I couldn't focus because of the age gap... I haven't watched Squid Game 2, but that couple actually look good together, even with the age gapㅋㅋㅋ

-In the storyline, the second couple is supposed to be the same age. They're 13 years apart, but it doesn't show at all...

-The chemistry between Jo Yuri and Lim Siwan is actually so much better than I expectedㅋㅋㅋㅋ

-Wait... Lim Siwan is way older than I thought...? He has such a baby face.

-So... You're telling me that Lim Siwan is 38??? Wow.

-How is Lim Siwan not aging? He looks exactly like he did 15 years ago.

-??????? I thought the couple in Goblin had like... a 20-year gap???

'Squid Game 2' Director didn't expect T.O.P to stir controversy with his poor acting skills: 'It must've taken courage for him. I'm satisfied'

https://m.entertain.naver.com/now/article/609/0000938014

'Squid Game 2' Director Hwang Donghyuk revealed his thoughts on casting T.O.P (Choi Seunghyun) in an interview with an international media outlet.

On December 28th, the American entertainment media outlet People released an interview with Hwang Donghyuk, the director of 'Squid Game 2. 'It was confirmed that this interview was conducted before the release of 'Squid Game 2.'In the interview, Director Hwang mentioned the reasons why casting T.O.P became controversial and commented on his acting skills.

Director Hwang began by saying, "As you know, Choi Seunghyun was involved in a marijuana scandal about 9 years ago in South Korea, which made him unable to take on any projects in Korea. 'Squid Game 2' is his comeback work after a long break."

He continued, "In particular, he plays a character who is a rapper and a drug user. I believe it took a lot of courage for him to take on this role. The character shares many negative similarities with him, so I think it must've taken a lot of courage for him to take on that role."

Director Hwang added, "Even after a long break, as a director, I was very impressed with his acting and I am very satisfied with his portrayal of the character."

T.O.P was sentenced to 10 months in prison with a 2-year probation for smoking marijuana in 2017, after which he left BIGBANG and paused his acting career. At the time, he had stated that he had no plans to return to the entertainment industry, but then he announced his return through the globally anticipated 'Squid Game 2,' causing controversy.

The public reaction to the news of T.O.P's casting was cold. However, Director Hwang expressed confidence, saying, "I've come to the conclusion that the only way to show why this actor had to be in this role was to present the result to the journalists and viewers. That's why I decided to proceed with the casting."

However, even after the release of the show, T.O.P failed to receive a positive response from viewers. There has been a mixed reaction, with many criticizing his exaggerated gestures, pronunciation, and the outdated portrayal of a rapper character.

theqoo

-You two look great together❤️

-It's been a long time since I've seen such shockingly bad acting. His acting skill is just so bad that it's unpleasant to watch.

-What kind of relationship do they have?

-It seems like they're dating....

-Why use an actor who can't act when there are so many talented actors who don't do drugs? No wonder people are criticizing.

-What, are they in love or what?

-They look alike

-They’re either dating or out of their minds

-I was like 'What the f*ck? Are they dating or what?!' as I scrolled down this post and seeing people having exactly the same thoughts as me in the comment section is both funny and frustratingㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

-I hate it.

-Did the director owe T.O.P money or something? What's wrong with him?

-Every time T.O.P comes on screen, it gets so cringey that I can’t focusㅠㅠㅠ

-If he’s satisfied with that, it seems like there’s a problem with him as a director.

-I get annoyed just by looking at him.

-Director... Director. I really enjoyed watching 'Squid Game', but I can't defend this...

'Squid Game 2' becomes the first show to take the #1 spot on Netflix in all countries

It's reported that the show topped the charts in all 93 countries, earning a maximum score of 930 points.

theqoo

-Even though it receives a lot of hate, people still watch it.

-Wow, that's impressive.

-Koreans are the only one who finds it boringㅋㅋㅋ It's because there are too many famous actors starring in it, making the storyline predictable.

-I watched it all in one day to avoid spoilers. Season 3 is going to be really important.

-If it's getting this much attention, they should have made it better. Even if it's just a bridge to Season 3, the quality is....

-It's just... watchable for me. Probably because I didn't watch Season 1 and watched this season with no expectations.

-Wow, it was really boring... but congrats anyway.

-I turned it on with high hopes but turned it off after episode 3 because it was boring. I wonder if it gets better later on?

-I guess I'm the only one who isn't watching it....

-Is it good? I haven't watched Season 1.

-I'm watching episode 4 right now.

-Don't lie, it's really bad.

[Squid Game 2] Hyunju seems to be getting the biggest reaction from international viewers (Spoiler alert)

Hyunju, an ex-special forces transgender played by Park Sunghoon.

There's currently a talk about how Jeon Jaejoon is now gone and being replaced by Hyunju ㅋㅋㅋ

-But it's Jo Yuri and Lim Siwan who are gaining the most followers...

-He is really an amazing actor.

-He looks so freaking cool when he shoots the CCTVs.

-Wasn’t he filming Queen of Tears at the same time? How does he manage to switch characters so perfectly...

-Diva Hyunju.

-Hyunju Unnie, fighting.

-It is such a great character and he's also a really amazing actor.

-I hesitated to watch this season since it's been getting bad reviews, but now I want to watch it because of Jeon Jaejoonㅋㅋㅋ

-I love Hyunju Unnie so muchㅋㅋㅋㅋ

-ㅋㅋ He surprisingly suits that hairstyle really well.

-Why does no one call him by his real name?ㅠㅜ

-Hyunju is so pretty.

-I didn't have any interest in this show before, but now I'm curious about it.

-Hyunju is the character I’m rooting for the most. ㅠㅠ Please don’t die, Hyunju Unnie.

-He looks so f*cking sexy when he starts shooting.

The common reactions about Squid Game 2

Many viewers are complaining that there are too many famous actors in Squid Game 2, and the story is becoming weaker because the show is trying to give everyone a lot of screen time.

theqoo

-I ended up doing other things while watching it... I watched Season 1, so I just gave it a shot, but there are way too many controversial actors, so I might drop it midway.

-I only watched the first 3 episodes, skipped to the ending, and quit watching.

-This is the result of people pulling strings to bring in their connections because Season 1 was a huge success.

-Weren’t the reactions really good??? This is surprising.

-I had a feeling it would be like this and now it seems like I was right...ㅋㅋㅋ I don't really want to watch it.

-I didn't find Season 1 fun, so I have no need to watch Season 2ㅋ

-How are foreign viewers reacting to this?

-The acting was good, though.

-It's really hard for Season 2 to succeed, huh...? They got too greedy.

-I personally think it's fun, though...

-I wanted to see the games, but they didn't show many. There was more OX voting and introductions of the characters, and then they just started shooting... What is this?

-I think the roles aren't fitting for such famous actors. But since they cast famous actors, they had to add unnecessary depth into the characters.

-I knew this would happen

-It would’ve been better if they had cast fresh faces like in Season 1.

-For some reason, I just can’t bring myself to watch it properly. Even when I try to focus, it’s hard to get immersed, so I just quit watching halfway.

-Personally, I think Season 1’s success was because it was a ‘dopamine party.’ But Season 2 is way too focused on backstories.

-Oh noㅜㅜ I was looking forward to watching it this weekend, but now I have zero expectations.

-It seems like even foreign viewers are also giving bad reviews, not just Korean viewers.

-The casting is bad, but the biggest problem with this drama is that it's boring and not fun at all.....

-The castingㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ Seriously, there’s nothing interesting about the cast at all.

It seems like Im Siwan is playing the role of a 'Coin junkie' in Squid Game

Why did you take my phone and wallet? Give them back. I need to check the crypto rates. If I can't sell in time, are you going to take responsibility, Ahjussi?

He swallowed something roughㅋㅋㅋㅋ
Spit it outㅠ

theqoo

-Ugh, I hate itㅠㅠ

-Ah... I'm gonna have to watch thisㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

-Whoa... He sounds exactly like those pretentious, know-it-all guys when they try to act rational and logical while being completely clueless...

-Whoa... His toneㅋㅋㅋ He sounds like a complete loser, but with positive visual...

-Whoa... For real, thoughㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ It's too realisticㅋㅋㅋㅋ

-That handsome face doesn’t go with such nasty lines. This isn’t right!

-Whoa... He must've done a lot of research for this roleㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

-His pronunciation sounds perfect, but why does it sound like his voice... gained weight?ㅠ His acting skill is insane.

-Even though he has a naturally beautiful voice, the way he speaks here is seriously so infuriatingㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

-Ugh... I can’t bring myself to press play.

-Wow, he’s way too good at being annoying.

-Why is he so good even at this? It's pissing me off.

-Why is he so good at acting?

-He sounds so annoyingㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

-How did he even pull off that tone?

-Someone perform an exorcism, pleaseㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ

'Squid Game 2’ Director Hwang Donghyuk addresses casting controversy with T.O.P ... “We’ll prove it with results”

Segye Ilbo | Journalist Han Yoon Jong

Squid Game 2 director Hwang Donghyuk has responded to the controversy surrounding the casting of T.O.P (Choi Seunghyun, 37), a former member of Bigbang.

Regarding his decision to cast T.O.P, who previously was sentenced to probation for using marijuana, Director Hwang Donghyuk explained, “When we decided to cast Choi Seunghyun, the incident related to drug use had occurred quite some time ago. He had already received his sentence, and the probation period had ended, so I thought, ‘Isn’t it time for him to be able to start something new?’ and made the decision to cast him.”

He continued, “Many people expressed concern about my decision, and for a second I thought, ‘Maybe I didn’t think about it thoroughly.’ We evaluated him. He showed strong determination and even auditioned in person. He also sent us a video of him acting, and when he got nervous in some parts during the script-reading sessions, we reevaluated him and he showed a lot of effort and talent. He showed a lot of effort and talent. To be honest, I had been interested in him as an actor for a while. I can't tell you in detail, but the role he’s playing requires a lot of courage, and I thought he was the most suitable choice.”

Director Hwang added, “Despite the controversy, we had already gone through many stages together, so undoing the decision wasn’t a choice. The only way to show why we chose Choi Seunghyun is through the final result. So, we decided not to cancel the decision of casting him. I understand some may still not understand why I insisted on this, but I want to clarify the circumstances. I hope when the series is released, viewers will realize it wasn’t an easy decision, and they’ll understand it wasn’t easy for Choi Seunghyun either. Please judge it until you see the final result.”

theqoo

-The whole entertainment industry is rotten.

-I don't want to watch this series.

-I was waiting for this season to be released to see the actor that I like, but seeing this made me not want to watch...

-What does the final result have to do with that person using drugs?

-I thought he said he was gonna retire from the entertainment industry?ㅋㅋㅋ

-Yeah, I'm definitely not gonna watch itㅋㅋㅋ

-I can't believe he thinks it's okay to cast him because that scandal happened a while ago... A drug user is back on TV with no problems, that's the issue. This is going to brainwash people think that it's okay (for criminals to be back on TV). How can a public figure lack such ethics?

-Well, Joo Jihoon still continues working in the industry after his drug scandal too anyway... However, T.O.P has an even worse image because he was caught with liquid marijuana and women. If he turns out to be an amazing actor, people's reactions might change, though... But isn't there more to the Squid Game issue than just T.O.P?ㅠㅠ

-Why should we watch this show?

-I hope it flops.

-The shamelessness of those in this industry is next-level.......

-It's ridiculous and pathetic how he tries so hard to clean up criminals' imagesㅋㅋㅋㅋ

Squid Game 2 issues an apology following recent controversy of a staff member, "We're sorry for causing discomfort"

Amidst the controversy surrounding Netflix's Original Series, Squid Game 2, the production team has issued an apology.

On the 11th, the production team of Squid Game 2 released an official statement saying, "On the 10th, we received information that a citizen experienced discomfort during the filming of Squid Game 2 at Incheon Airport. During the filming process, we made our best efforts to provide detailed information to citizens regarding the on-site situation. However, we apologize for any inconvenience caused."

Continuing, they added, "We sincerely thank the citizens who have been understanding and allowed the filming to proceed. In the future, we will be more cautious in the filming process."

Earlier on the same day, a post was published on an online community exposing the alleged abuse of power by the staff members of Squid Game 2. The OP, A, explained that they witnessed the filming of Squid Game 2 at Incheon Airport during the day.

A stated that when they and others tried to use the escalator, one of the staff members responded in a commanding tone, telling them to "Go back" without providing any explanations. A expressed their discomfort, questioning why the staff member acted so arrogantly, asking if filming gives them the right to do so.

theqoo

-Didn't they just start filming this week?

-A controversy right as soon as they started filming??

-Didn't they just start filming the series yesterday?

-Dramas that stir controversies usually end up flopping, though...

-Is Incheon Airport yours?

-They just started filming and yet they already caused another controversy...

-Oh Gosh, this drama is so full of controversies. Why are there a lot of staff members abusing their power these days? They never learn, do they?

-You must be kidding me... Do you think being one of the staff members gives you the right to act that arrogant?

-Hul... At Incheon Airport? Who do they think they are?

-I'm adding this to the list of why I shouldn't watch Squid Game

-Why don't you build filming set then? Why are you treating citizens like that? I seriously hope this drama will flop...

-I think this drama is going to flop...

-? Why is the staff blocking citizens from using the escalator? Do they expect the citizens to use the stairs with all of their luggage? This is f*cking ridiculous.

-I'll just pretend Squid Game 2 doesn't even exist...

-I wonder why did the staff do that... Don't they know that they can go viral even for the smallest things these days?

The person who played a role behind the casting of T.O.P in Squid Game 2 is not Lee Jungjae but Lee Byunghun? Company remains silent

BH Ent. has not made any specific statements amid allegations that Lee Byunghun had a role behind the casting of Bigbang's T.O.P (Choi Seunghyun) in Netflix's Squid Game 2 despite his involvement in a drug scandal. BH Ent. remained silent as they stated, 'There is no official statement' when asked about the matter.

Squid Game 2, which will begin filming in the second half of the year, is highly anticipated as Season 1 captivated audiences worldwide in 2021. Given the success of Season 1, there is a significant level of interest and anticipation surrounding Season 2. Netflix recently shocked viewers as they include T.O.P in the lineup of additional cast members on June 29th.

Cont'd

According to Newsen, it was revealed that Lee Jungjae and T.O.P were once as close as brothers, but they have had no communication in the past few years. An insider stated to Newsen, 'The last time Lee Jungjae and T.O.P contacted each other was several years ago. Lee Jungjae saw T.O.P's face for the first time in a long time during the script reading for Squid Game 2 which was held on the 23rd. That was also the day he first learned that (T.O.P) is confirmed to star in the show."

Due to that statement, suspicions have been raised that it was not Lee Jungjae but Lee Byunghun who played the role behind the casting of T.O.P in the show. This is due to the fact that Kang Jangwoo, CEO of T.O.P's management previously worked for Lee Byunghun's company, BH Entertainment. Unlike Lee Jungjae, multiple insiders stated that T.O.P and Lee Byunghun continue to maintain their close friendship over the years. Additionally, actors from BH Ent. and Hiin Ent. such as Lee Jinwook, Park Sunghoon, and Won Jian also have joined the lineup of Squid Game 2.

In response to this controversy, Netflix stated, 'The casting of actors in Netflix productions is determined by the director, writer, and production company. Netflix respects and acknowledges their decision.'

https://n.news.naver.com/entertain/article/609/0000742485

theqoo

-Did the production team seriously not expect to receive negative reactions from casting him?

-I will pretend to forget about this, so please leave the show as soon as possible...

-Why did you cast such a controversial person in the first place?

-At this point, he really should get the hint and leave the show on his own

-I knew itㅋㅋㅋ I mean, just look at the numbers of BH Ent.'s artists in the lineup...

-Does that mean Lee Byunghun played a role behind T.O.P's casting in the show? What the hell... Lee Byunghun should also leave the show then...

-It looks like Lee Byunghun really did have a role behind T.O.P's casting, considering the number of BH Ent.'s artists in this show's lineup...

-Leave the show~ Didn't you say you were going to retire from this industry?~

-Just kick him out of the show. It hasn't even started filming anyway. I'm no longer interested in watching this show now.

-He should get the hint by now;; What the f*ck... Didn't he say he was going to retire from the industry?

-I guess I'll just have to boycott this show then...

-Ah... They still haven't started filming the show?? That's a relief. I hope he leaves the show.

-Leave the show, you druggie.

-I really loved Squid Game, thoughㅠㅠㅠ Season 2 is already controversial even before it starts filmingㅠㅠㅠ
