Reasons why people still want to watch 'Dark Nuns'

The reason why I want everyone to watch 'Dark Nuns'

Song Hyekyo, with this face, curses without a frown.

She doesn't discriminate between humans and demons.

So Song Hyekyo swears, smokes, and has dark allure in 'Dark Nuns'?

ㄴTake my money already.

I watched 'Dark Nuns'.
Before watching it, I only vaguely heard about the misogyny controversy but didn't read about it in detail. After watching, I was like, 'Is this why???'ㅋㅋㅋㅋ Please, watch the movie first before criticizing. Aren't they the two top actresses that you all wanted to see?? The reasons behind the choices that Song Hyekyo's character made are all explained in the movie.

I love that Song Hyekyo's return to film after 10 years is in an occult genre.

'Dark Nuns' is a feminist-friendly movie about women's solidarity. Did you think Korean women would be intimidated by uterus?? This is the evolution of Korean women. Song Hyekyo showed us what strong feminism looks like. Uterus is neither a weakness nor a strength for women. All this uproar over the word 'uterus'?? That's so typical of Twitter users...

Hold up... 'Dark Nuns' is actually an amazing movie, though? Cursing and uterus?? Have you never watched an occult movie before?ㅋㅋㅋ You'd faint if you heard the devil swearing in 'The Omen'. This movie is about two women, Song Hyekyo and Jeon Yeobeen. It's got everything that occult fans love: Latin, goats, rituals, shamans, and tarot cards. The slow parts are completely filled by the Unnies' stunning visuals. Just watch it and judge for yourself.

There are reactions like this too... Personally, I hope female-led films do well.

-I’ll decide how to spend my own money. If the movie is actually good, people will naturally go watch it.

-They sound like buzzers.

-Just because the lead characters are all women, it doesn't automatically make it a feminist movie.

-Nope. I'm still not gonna watch it.

-A friend of mine went to the premiere yesterday and she said the movie was fine. I'm sure people have their own preferences, though.

-Ugh... The issue is... With the current f*cked up situation, I don't feel like hearing people swearing. I heard the devil in this movie curses in a way that make viewers feel absolutely awful.

-I'm not really interested...

-I canceled my tickets because I saw a spoiler...

-Why is this movie so controversial? People who want to watch it will watch it, and those who don't want to, won't.. It's simple.

-It misogynistic, but because the main characters are women, it's okay?? That's sickening.

-Hmm... I guess I'll just watch it when it's on OTT.

-I'm going to watch this movie.

-This makes me want to watch it even less.

-I won't watch it. This movie makes me uncomfortable, even though I like occult films.

-A nun who smokes and curses? Don't portray nuns like that.

Movie 'Dark Nuns' has already been criticized by Catholics since the trailer was released (Spoiler)

Father, this is a different mater, but do we Catholics actually say, 'In the name of the Virgin Mary?' We usually ask her to pray with us, not to worship her. In the trailer for the upcoming movie 'Dark Nuns' (Starring Song Hyekyo and Jeon Yeobeen), during the exorcism scene, they say, 'In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and the Virgin Mary.' It's not even 'Our Lord Jesus Christ', but 'the Lord Jesus Christ-nim'. An the line 'In the name of the Virgin Mary' just adds the confusion... Some Protestants already criticize Catholics, saying that we 'Worship Mary.' This movie will only amplify those voices. I've seen other Catholics express their concerns in the comments. I'm asking out of curiosity...

I'm not sure if it is included in the Rite of Exorcism, but it's not used in general prayers. Actually, the authority to perform exorcisms is given to priests (There's a difference between an exorcism and Rite of Exorcism). I have no idea how it will be portrayed in the movie. Even in 'The Priests,' there were parts that weren't properly checked... After all, a movie is just a movie. For questions like this, you might want to ask @fr.simonlee...

-They lack research and understanding of the religion they're using as a theme in the movie...

-Did they not consult it beforehand?

-Maybe the thought since they're nuns, they would pray to Mary because she's a woman...?

-Didn't they even get proper consulting beforehand...?

-Whoa... There are a lot of problems with this movie...

-It seems like they didn't even do any research...

-I'm curious... Are they not supposed to believe in the Virgin Mary? Why? Because she's a bad person...?

-The Virgin Mary is not a deity... So, she can't be the object of prayer. Catholics don't worship the Virgin Mary as a God... The Virgin Mary is like a representative of the faithful...? An intercessor. So, we ask her to pray with us like, "Please pray for us"....

-I also thought 'What???' when they said 'In the name of the Virgin Mary' in the trailer. In Catholicism, the Virgin Mary is revered as the mother of Jesus and someone we ask to pray for us, but we don't worship her as a God... I feel like they don't understand Catholics and just using the religion to exploit it.

-Hul... I was planning to watch this movie, but now I won't...

-What a mess... Ugh...

-I didn't know what was wrong because I'm an atheist..

-The Virgin Mary is a human, nota God. So we ask her to pray with us, not to demand power in her name.

-I can't bring myself to watch this... Them not doing a proper consultation with experts clearly shows that they lack of effort and sincerity in creating the movie.

-Nuns performing an exorcism is fine, but there are basic doctrines that they should respect. If they're going to use Catholicism in their movie, they shouldn't be overturning the basic doctrines.

The Cineplay ratings and comments for 'Dark Nuns'

Joo Sungcheol: An ambitious attempt to build the plot solely around exorcism, but the young male demon talks way too much.

Sung Chaneol: It's too straightforward, leaving no room for curiosity and fear.

Choo Ahyoung: Presents the image of a feminist exorcist who embraces evil with acceptance and sacrifice.

Lee Jinjoo: The visuals are stunning, every single one of them.

Kim Jiyeon: An attempt to connect exorcism, shamanism, and tarot functionally...

-Oh noㅠ I was really looking forward to this...

-Well... It does look a bit boring.

-Ah, whyㅜㅜㅜㅜㅜㅜ I was hoping it would be good...

-Isn't that quite a decent rating, though?

-My mom's a fan of Song Hyekyo, so I'll go see it with her... I guess I'll have to go with low expectations thenㅎ

-Hmm... I'll probably go see it first before judging.

-I think it's just okay...?? You shouldn't have high expectations. It seems like a decent movie to watch casually.

-I'm curious, so I'll go watch it anyway.

-I hope the movie focuses more on the interesting elements rather than just being a scary movie. Exorcism, shamanism, and tarot... It sounds promising alreadyㅋㅋㅋ

-Guess I'll have to watch it just to see Song Hyekyo's face then!

-The demon talks too much....?

-Well... It's hard for occult movies to get high ratingssㅋㅋㅋㅋ

-It looks fun to me, though...

-Honestly, I just want it to be fun and scary... But I know that's tough... Sighㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ

-I'll judge after watching it myself.
