Photos from the private wedding of singer and actor Ok Taecyeon have been leaked, sparking controversy.
On the 24th, Ok Taecyeon tied the knot with his non-celebrity partner at an undisclosed location in Seoul. The ceremony was hosted by fellow 2PM member Hwang Chansung, while all members of 2PM performed the congratulatory song, showing their strong bond. Considering the bride is a non-celebrity, the wedding was held quietly and privately, with only family members, relatives, and close acquaintances in attendance.
However, pictures later surfaced on Chinese online platforms, showing Ok Taecyeon linking arms with his bride while looking at an leaning toward her face, as well as the wedding snapshots where they posed outdoors, sparking controversy.
The pictures are believed to have been taken by a Chinese tourist staying at the Shilla Hotel in Jung-gu, Seoul, where the wedding was held. In particular, concerns over invasion of privacy have been raised as the bride's face was posted without any mosaic or blurring.
While Chinese netizens reacted by saying, "Chinese people are everywhere," and "The news spreads really fast," Korean netizens expressed mixed opinions like "Is it okay to leak photos from a private wedding like this?" and "This is not a fan's affection towards their idols, this is a nuisance."
Meanwhile, Ok Taecyeon personally announced his marriage last November through a handwritten letter. He stated, "I have promised to spend the rest of my life with someone who has understood and believed in me for a long time. We intend to walk through life together while relying on each other."
He added, "I will continue to do my best to repay the love and trust you have sent me, as a member of 2PM, as an actor, and as your Taecyeon."
