According to OSEN's coverage on the 13th, tvN's new drama 'Resident Playbook' is preparing to be released next year. The drama is gaining interest within the industry, especially as it's planned to be released in the summer.
In recent years, domestic broadcasters and OTT platforms have been flooded with legal and medical dramas, with doctors and lawyers being some of the most frequently seen characters. However, when residents in the medical field submitted mass resignations in opposition to the government's medical school expansion policy last year, leading to a prolonged healthcare strike, 'medical dramas' were put on hold. As public sentiment worsened, it became impossible to broadcast dramas about the dedication of doctors.
An industry insider told OSEN, "We are considering to release 'Resident Playbook' in summer 2025," drawing attention. Given the uncertainty of the ongoing medical strike, they decided to plan to release the drama next year. However, a tvN's reps responded cautiously, stating, "It is still undecided."
Currently, the industry predicts that the production and airing of medical dramas, including 'Resident Playbook,' which had been delayed until now, will resume.
-As someone who worked in a hospital, I watched the first episode of Hospital Playlist's first season and stopped watching because it was completely fictional. There are no doctors like that in real life.
-Finally, I get to see it ㅠㅠ I’d wait a few more years if I have to, I just want it to be released.
-I'm not gonna watch it.
-Another drama glorifying doctors.
-They're trying to clean the image of doctors in this drama. I wish they wouldn’t air this. There are so many people who are suffering out there.
-Don't air it... Do they really have to air it...?
-Ugh, I know people will watch it anyway and there will be tons of posts about it here.
-I'm not watching this. Isn't it ridiculous to consume this kind of content? I was rejected by an ER and drove around in an ambulance, so thinking about it makes my blood boil. I hope those who consume this drama get rejected by a hospital when they’re in a life-and-death situation.
-I can’t stand this.
-Stop glorifying the medical and legal fields.
-It’s just a drama anyway.
-They're just testing the f*cking waters. If they're so confident about airing this drama, they should just proceed airing it right away.
-Cancel it.
-So annoying.
-Who would even watch this...?
