tvN 'Jeongnyeon: The Star is Born' reportedly faced a deficit despite achieving 16% viewer ratings

Despite surpassing a 10% viewer rating, 'Jeongnyeon: The Star is Born' still experienced loss. Initially, a total production cost of 336 Billion KRWwas agreed upon with Studio Dragon, but the production costs skyrocketed due to extensive efforts to focus on the historical scenes.

The main character, Kim Taeri, received over 300 M KRW per episode. Similar to the fee Kim Soohyun received when he starred in 'Queen of Tears. While actresses usually earn less than actors, Kim Taeri earned her pay through her popularity. Her agency, Management mmm, also played a part in the production from the planning stage.

Although the drama was simultaneously released on Disney+, the 12-episode format and historical genre made it less profitable. While CJ ENM and Studio Dragon officials claimed to have recovered the production costs, rumors in the industry suggested otherwise. It's also rumored that Disney+ suffered significant losses due to this drama. With MBC filing a lawsuit against the production company, the losses are expected to increase.

It seems that even high viewer ratings can't cover the high production costs for TV dramas...

-Given this situation, it makes sense why episode counts are decreasing.

-Why not just reduce actors' fees?

-Can’t they cut down the actors' fees?ㅠㅠㅠ

-300 M KRW per episode? That's crazy.

-Unless all the actors agree to lower their salaries, the quality of dramas will gradually decline and eventually lead to the failure of the Korean drama industry.

-Kim Taeri alone took 10% of the total production cost? Whoa...

-300 M KRW per episode?? Is this confirmed?

-They should’ve at least made a good ending then. It's funny how they expected success when they ruined the original work.

-I'm glad I didn't watch it.

-The Korean drama industry is going to collapse because of the skyrocketing production costs caused by actors fees...

-Kim Taeri and Kim Soohyun are earning 300 M KRW per episode? That's too much. No wonder they're losing money.

-That's a lot of money... Is her acting even worth 300 M KRW per episode?

-If Kim Taeri was too expensive for them, they shouldn’t have cast her in the first place... This deficit could've been avoided...

'The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call' receives positive reactions for changing this character, who is originally a man in the original work, to a woman in the drama adaptation

Actress Kim Sunyoung plays the role of the Minister of Health and Welfare

(It's originally a male character and has no significant scenes in the original work)

With her firm gaze and clear diction, along with her determined efforts to improve the working conditions for the trauma center team, she left a really strong impression despite the short screen time.

The director reportedly made the change because he wanted to work with Kim Sunyoung.

Q: Regarding the changes from the original work, the Minister of Health and Welfare was changed from a male character to a female character.

Lee Doyoon (Director): That was my personal desire. I wanted to work with Kim Sunyoung, whom I deeply respect, so I offered her the role.

-I liked how she was smart enough to use the situation politicallyㅋㅋㅋ

-I also really loved this role. Seeing an actress portray such an ambitious character made it even better.

-The Minister’s role was brief but so impactful. I absolutely loved to see her using politics to her advantages.

-She suited the role perfectlyㅋㅋㅋㅋ The fact that they changed this character to a woman made it even better.

-I think everyone except the nurse was male in the original, but the change was greatㅠ It was a really great decision.

-This change made the drama so much better.

-She really suited the roleㅋㅋ

-Where can I find the original interview? I want to read the whole thingㅋㅋ

-She suits the role well. I have a feeling she wouldn’t stab anyone in the backㅋㅋ

-Sunyoung's tone was really amazing. It's just different from the typical politicians in other dramas.

-Whoa... I loved that character so much. I didn't know it was originally a male character.

-I didn't know the original character was a man. I haven’t read it, so I thought this was how it always was. I loved it.

-Hul... What a great decision. And the actress' performance was absolutely incredible.

-I really love competent, ambitious female characters like this!

'The Tale of Lady Ok' star Ha Yully shares her thoughts on the drama's finale: "I was worried whether I could do well as a villain..."

Actress Ha Yully shared her thoughts as 'The Tale of Lady Ok' came to an end.

The JTBC drama, which concluded on the 26th, is a drama that follows the intense survival story of a con artist Ok Taeyoung (played by Im Jiyeon), whose name, status, and even husband are all fake, and Cheon Seunghwi (played by Choo Youngwoo), who risked his life to protect her. The drama captured the hearts of viewers with its gripping plot, unique setting of identity laundering, and the actors' excellent performances.

Amidst this, through her agency, Starhaus Entertainment, Ha Yully shared her thoughts.

She shared, "I would like to sincerely thank all the viewers who watched and loved 'The Tale of Lady Ok.' When I first met Sohye, I was worried about whether I could portray her well, but thanks to the director and writer who believed in me and encouraged me, I gained the courage to take on the role. I'm also deeply grateful to the staff and senior actors who helped me bring out the charm in Sohye, despite being a despicable and malicious character."

She continued, "I would like to thank everyone who worked hard on the filming from the cold winter to the hot summer." Lastly, she added, "I was really happy to play the role of Sohye. I learned a lot of things during the filming. I will greet you with a more matured appearance in the future. Happy New Year." Ha Yully captured the public's attention with her portrayal of Kim Sohye. Kim Sohye constantly mistreated and shifted all her work to her servant, Gu Deok. After being humiliated by Gu Deok, she earned the infamous nickname 'Poop Sohye', and struggled to find a suitable marriage partner. Filled with anger and a desire for revenge, she transformed into a vengeful person. In order to find Gu Deok who had run away, Sohye stopped at nothing, raising the conflict of the drama and adding to its excitement.

Pledis (HYBE) quietly replaced the maliciously distorted photos without giving any feedback

Guys, I don’t think we should just laugh this off. For the purpose of preventing screenshot, this feels too much. The group photos are pixelated down to the point where their faces are unrecognizable. The official sales notice also uses the same pictures, but in the normal, unedited version. It seems like there was a malicious intention behind this...

You re-edited the pictures and posted them again. Yet some members' faces are still distorted?ㅋㅋ Do you think we're stupid?

They made the members' faces look weird in the pre-order notice, where fans don't usually pay much attention. But when it went viral, they deleted the notice and quietly posted a new one. This has been happening since 2 years ago. If fans hadn't spoken up, they would've continued doing this.

Pledis, HYBE, do you not even do reviews before posting anything? Did you actually give these pictures an approval to be posted? You've distorted the artists' faces just because they look small in the picture. Are you out of your minds?

theqoo

-The level of creepiness is beyond my imagination...

-This is giving me chills.

-This is really strange. If they wanted to prevent people from taking screenshots, they could've just blurred the entire image, not editing each person's face like that. That's odd.

-What's wrong with this company?

-If this wasn't intentional, how else can it bee explained? They must've manually edited each face separately.

-This is giving me chills... This is no different from the way haters usually edit idols' faces in a weird way to mock them.

-HYBE is seriously weird.......

-Whoa.... Who's the person in charge? Are they a hater or what??

-Don't you find this strange? Faces are the most important thing for idols. Who would like it if their faces were distorted like that?

-I think there might be a hater among the staff.

-This is giving me chills... Are they crazy??

-They have zero basic respect for the artists. This is very psycopath-like of them.

-This is so f*cking scary.

-They seriously need to explain in detail why this was posted like this.

-Typical HYBE behavior, so I’m not even surprised anymoreㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
