The income of 'The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call' author who quit being a doctor to become a web novel writer

The original author of 'The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call' now writes web novels under the pen name 'Hansanleega.' He was originally an ENT doctor.

'The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call' beats Squid Game

'The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call' ranks #1 globally

'The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call' becomes a new milestone for Korean medical dramas

Medical web novels written by a real doctor become a hit

You're both a doctor and a writer. Which side is more important to you?

Writer 100%. I haven't practiced medicine in 5 years. I'm a full-time author now.

To quit being a doctor after all that effort… How much more do you earn now?

Income from web novels is not bad. About 3-4 times more than when I was a doctor.

Even before Netflix adapted 'The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call,' he was already making 3-4 times more than web novels than from being a doctor.

For reference, Song Huigoo, the writer of 'The Dream Life of Mr. Kim' also followed the novel -> webtoon -> drama path and said he achieved 'financia freedom' 5 years ago.

Everyone, let's quit investment and grab your keyboard instead.

theqoo

-Being a writer is really the best.

-If writing was that easy, we’d all do it. In my case, I was told that I was a good writer growing up. However, I still struggle to fill just a few pages.

-Creative writing is a matter of talentㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

-I wish I had that kind of talent.

-Being good is important, but writing fast is also key. Hansanleega writes insanely fast, which is why he earns so much.

-But you still need talent to earn money like that.

-How can you beat a web novel written by a real doctorㅋ큐ㅠ

-Not everyone can writeㅠ

-So jealous. That’s amazing…

-But you also need a hell of a lot of luck for that to happen.

-Earning 3–4 times more than a doctor? That’s insane.

-That’s pure talent… They are the chosen ones.

-He didn't earn money just because he became a writer. He earned money because he became a successful writer.

'The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call' is set to return with both Season 2 and Season 3.

According to Xports News on the 23rd, the Netflix series 'The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call' has confirmed the simultaneous production of both seasons and has officially begun preparations.

'The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call' tells the story of Baek Kanghyuk (Played by Ju Jihoon), a genius surgeon who once roamed battlefields as he takes charge of a nearly defunct trauma center and brings it back to life. The series is based on a web novel of the same title by author Lee Nakjun, who is an ENT specialist.

Released in January, 'The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call' has been a major success not only in South Korea but also in the global market. In May, Ju Jihoon won the Best Actor in the TV Series category at the 61st Baeksang Arts Awards. In July, the series took home three trophies, Rookie of the Year (Choo Youngwoo), Best Actor (Ju Jihoon), and Best Drama at the 4th Blue Dragon Series Awards.

Driven by its popularity and acclaim, 'The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call' will produce Season 2 and Season 3 simultaneously. The plan is to start full-scale production preparations by the end of this year and begin filming around next summer.

Previously, the original author Lee Nakjun mentioned, "The drama was already written with Season 2 and 3 in mind," hinting at the possibility of producing other seasons. Now, viewers can look forward to seeing Season 2 and 3 brought to life.

Meanwhile, Season 1 of 'The Trauma Center: Heroes on Call' starred Ju Jihoon, Choo Youngwoo, Hayoung, Yoon Kyungho, Jung Jaekwang, Kim Euiseong, and more.

-What... He's good at singing too.

-What?? He's actually a great singer. I would've been so upset if the show didn't rank #1.

-Craz... He captured Roy Kim's vibe perfectly.

-He sings well and has a great voice, what is this??

-#1? Did it do better than 'Squid Game 2'? Well, 'The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call' is pretty good, though.

-His voice sounds similar to Roy Kim.

-Whoa... What the heck??ㅋㅋㅋ He's an amazing singer!!!!!

-He sings so well... His voice blesses my ears.

-??? Why are you good at singing?

-I’m actually shocked at how good he isㅋㅋㅋㅋ I thought he had a nice voice, but he can really sing too. Fascinating.

And ranked #2 in overall

It accumulated 16,6 M views in just two weeks

It's currently ranking #11 among all Netflix's original K-Dramas

-This drama is so f*cking good. Give me Season 2.

-I don't usually like medical dramas, but this one was funㅋㅋㅋ I wonder if there will be Season 2.

-Whoa... This is huge. Looks like there's definitely going to be a Season 2.

-Why did people throw bullshit on 'Hospital Playlist' then?

-The plot feels too similar to 'Dr. Romantic,' so I personally don't like it that much.

-They're currently filming for Season 2, right?? Please..

-It would’ve been perfect if not for Joo Jihoon…

-I can’t even watch this because of Joo Jihoon, so frustrating.

-The original writer wanted Gong Yoo or Kim Namgil... So why did they cast Joo Jihoon instead?

-I've only heard about the hype… Joo Jihoon is in this??... Ugh, I was just about to watch it, though.

-This is the first drama I've actually enjoyed in a long time.

-They're just doing surgeries in this drama... Honestly, they could run for 100 seasons. Let's go.

-I read the novel, so the drama felt a bit off to me, but still interesting.

-The reactions are good. I'll have to watch it thenㅋㅋㅋ

-It's perfect for killing time. I enjoyed it.

-The pacing was faast, the story was simple and fun. I watched the whole season with my parents over the holidays.

-I don't usually watch dramas, but my family said it was light and fun to watch, so they watched it all in one go.

-It was super fun. The fast-paced plot is what makes it exactly the kind of drama that Koreans would love.

-I usually drop Joo Jihoon's drama halfway because they just don't suit my taste, but this one was actually enjoyableㅋㅋㅋ

-This is probably the character that Joo Jihoon suits the most in his whole career.

-Choo Youngwoo is so cuteㅋㅋㅋ

-It was really fun. The pacing was fast and there were no romance subplots, which made the drama was very comfortable to watch.

-Now I understand why directors love Joo Jihoonㅋㅋ

-I kept watching til the end because of Cheon Jangmi, Yang Jaewon, and Han Yurimㅋㅋㅋ Han Yurim was seriously the most memorable characterㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

-This is my first time seeing Choo Youngwoo. He's such an amazing actor, he really stood out in my opinion.

-What are they doing instead of making Season 2?!

-It was so funㅜ I hope they film Season 2 before Choo Youngwoo enlists in the military service.

-It’s been so long since my whole family enjoyed a drama together.

-I only planned to watch one episode but ended up watching all 8 in one sitting. I just couldn't stop.

-The pacing is fast, the characters are charming, and there's no Sung Gihun (Very important)

It's said that 'The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call' star Ha Young comes from a family of medical professionals

'The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call' star Ha Young is actually from a family of doctors🩺

"My father is a practicing doctor, and my mother majored in nursing. I heard that my great-grandfather was one of the first doctors to practice Western medicine in Hanyang. I heard that my great-grandfather was one of the first doctors to practice Western medicine in Hanyang."

theqoo

-What does coming from a family of doctors have to do with acting skills? I’m genuinely curious, not trying to start an argument.

-If an actor/actress has been around a particular profession, it would definitely help them in portraying that role.

-No wonder her acting was so natural.

-I really liked Jangmi’s character, and her performance in the drama was absolutely amazing.

-If her family members are actually medical professionals, she must've seen and heard a lot about the role she's portraying in this dramaㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ Don't be jealous.

-So she comes from a wealthy family.

-Wow, no wonder her tone was so natural.

-I personally think her acting felt super natural.

-Dramas usually consult with experts in their field. So it must be helpful to have a family member who's a medical professional. Why are some people making ridiculous arguments with such confidence?

-That means she can ask for advice or references from her family. What's wrong with people?

-Coming from a doctor’s family and graduating from Ewha Womans University… Definitely an enviable background.

-I first saw her in 'The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call' and I have to agree that she's such an amazing actress.
