Kangta launches SM Ent.'s sub-label 'SMArt' ... 'Executive producer' for first artist Yim Siwan

Kangta is launching a new music label under SM Ent. called 'SMArt,' where he will serve as Executive Producer.

SMArt aims to cover various music genres and continuously expands its reach. The label plans to introduce fresh and stylish music never-heard before, using unique artwork and top-notch production that reinterpret K-Pop as a cultural art form.

The label's first artist will be Yim Siwan. SMArt will be producing his first solo album, which is set to be released this September, and followed by a global fan tour in early 2026.

Recognized as one of K-Pop's 1st Gen idols, Kangta has been steadily expanding his role beyond being just a musician and into a producer. Since 2014, he has worked as a non-registered director and in-house creative director at SM Ent. He also has wrked as the Executive Producer for SMASHHIT, one of the Creative Independent Companies (CIC) under SM's music publishing subsidiary, KREATION MUSIC RIGHTS (KMR). Now, by launching this new label, SMArt, he continues to grow his influence.

As Executive Producer, Kangta will participate in producing songs for various artists, while also scouting and developing new songwriters. Having devoted 30 years to music, Kangta’s artistic direction for SMArt is highly anticipated.

1. [+27][-0] People always love idols with mischievous looks and stan-attractor types like Eun Jiwon - Yoon Kye-sang and Plum (NB: Jo Sungmo) - Tony Ahn. Noh Yoo-min's face screams !!Visual!! and I think it'd play a big role on gaining some popularity for his group

2. [+25][-0] I think they can compete with male idols from this generation if they get the 'camera massage'. Besides, plastic surgery wasn't really common back then. Only people who are truly beautiful and handsome could be celebrities.

3. [+24][-0] Lee Jaehoon = Mischievous yet handsome main vocal. Yoon Kye-sang and Eun Jiwon = Tough, mafia-like style. Plum (NB: Jo Sungmo) = Beautiful voice + cure habits + stan-attractors. Tony Ahn = Stan-attractor who is good at dancing.
