'43 billion KRW lawsuit' Danielle claims: "ADOR intends to prolong the case ... Damaging my career"

Former NewJeans' member Danielle has stated her position regarding the massive damages lawsuit filed by ADOR, a label under HYBE.

During the first preparatory hearing held on the morning of the 26th at the Seoul Central District Court, Danielle's legal representative argued, "Given the nature of being an idol, damage is inevitable if the lawsuit is prolonged," adding, "Even though the plaintiff is fully aware that a key period of her career could be wasted, they appear to be intentionally delaying the case."

Furthermore, they stated, "The fact that the defendants are not only Danielle, but also her family and former CEO Min Heejin, can be interpreted as an intention to prolong the case." Regarding the request to postpone the hearing, they added, "It seems like a move to keep the lawsuit going for a long time."

Danielle's side requested the court, "The main issues have already been organized and a significant amount of evidence has been submitted. There is no delay the hearing to secure additional material. We hope the case quickly reaches a conclusion through intensive hearings."

ADOR notified Danielle of the termination of her exclusive contract in December last year and filed for damages. The agency claimed they were the main cause of disruptions to group activities, saying, "We plan to hold one of Danielle's family members and former CEO Min Heejin legally responsible for causing this dispute and for NewJeans' departure and delayed return."

In November 2024, NewJeans' members declared the termination of their contracts, arguing that ADOR had violated their exclusive agreements, and demanded the reinstatement of former CEO Min Heejin, which was rejected. ADOR filed a lawsuit in December the same year to confirm the validy of the contracts, and the first trial court ruled that the contracts were valid. That ruling became final without an appeal.

Since then, some members have taken steps to return. Haein and Hyerin were the first to express their intention to resume activities through ADOR, followed by Hanni. Minji is still in discussions regarding her return, while Danielle was notified of the termination of her exclusive contract.

'43 billion KRW damages lawsuit' ADOR says: "Settlement is possible" ... Min Heejin's side, who suggested it first, is bewildered

ADOR, the agency of the group NewJeans, mentioned the possibility of a settlement regarding the 43 billion KRW damages lawsuit filed against former member Danielle and former ADOR CEO Min Heejin.

On the morning of the 26th, the Seoul Central District Court held the first preparatory hearing for the damages lawsuit filed by ADOR against Danielle and Min Heejin.

When the court asked, "Is there a possibility of settlement?" ADOR responded, "We don't see it as completely impossible."

In response, Danielle's side stated, "This is the first time we've heard the plaintiff (ADOR) mention a settlement, given that they terminated the exclusive contract and filed a lawsuit seeking a large penalty."

ADOR then explained, "By saying settlement is not impossible, we mean that as the lawsuit progresses and arguments are exchanged, there may be opportunities to discuss mediation or settlement. This case doesn't necessarily have to end with a court ruling. It could change depending on the trial process."

They added, "Our point is that the outcome of this case does not determine the group's return. That issue should be discussed separately from the lawsuit."

Danielle's side countered, "Denielle expressed her intention to return, but this case proceeded because the plaintiff terminated her contract."

Min Heejin's side stated, "It's bewildering that they are bringing up the possibility of settlement now, given that the trial is underway and this position has already been expressed before. We will review this and announce our position."

Previously, NewJeans' members declared the termination of their exclusive contracts with ADOR in 2024 due to a breakdown of trust, but the court ruled that their contracts were still valid. Afterward, Haerin and Hyein returned to ADOR, followed by Hanni.

On the other hand, Danielle ultimately failed to reach a final agreement on her exclusive contract with ADOR and left the group. ADOR announced they had notified Danielle of her contract termination last December and filed a 43 billion KRW lawsuit in penalties and damages against Danielle, one of her family members, and Min Heejin. The damages claimed against Min Heejin alone are reported to be around 10 billion KRW.

Meanwhile, while the court dismissed HYBE's lawsuit to confirm the termination of the shareholders' agreement against Min Heejin and two others in February. At the same time, the court ruled in favor of Min Heejin in her lawsuit regarding put-option rights, ordering HYBE to pay approximately 25.6 billion KRW. HYBE has since appealed this decision.

Following this, Min Heejin held a press conference and made a shocking proposal: she would give up the 25.6 billion KRW put option payment from HYBE if all lawsuits against her, NewJeans, and related parties were withdrawn. However, ADOR did not accept this offer.

ADOR: "The 43 billion KRW damages lawsuit doesn't determine Danielle's entertainment activities ... She can decide for herself"

ADOR, a subsidiary of HYBE, has refuted claims that they are intentionally delaying the 430 billion KRW damages lawsuit filed against NewJeans' ex-member Danielle, her family, and former ADOR CEO Min Heejin (currently CEO of OOAK Records).

On the morning of the 26th, during a preparatory hearing at the Seoul Central District Court, ADOR stated, "This lawsuit for damages and penalties do not determine Danielle's entertainment activities."

Danielle's side argued, "This case was filed by the plaintiff. They judged that there was a major violation of contract and notified her of termination. If so, the reasons for that termination should already be established. They shouldn't be searching for evidence through the lawsuit. It has already been three months since this case began, the plaintiff should already have the evidence. We are requesting a set schedule so the plaintiff can submit the materials and we can respond accordingly."

In response, ADOR countered, "They are linking Danielle's activities to this case, but this is a lawsuit for damages and penalties. It does not determine the defendant's career. The defendant can decide for herself whether to continue her entertainment activities."

Hearing this, Danielle's side pushed back, saying, "If Danielle resumes her activities, the plaintiff will undoubtedly raise objections and pick a fight."

Last December, ADOR terminated Danielle's exclusive contract and filed a lawsuit for damages. At the time, ADOR stated, "We plan to hold one of Danielle's family members and former CEO Min Heejin legally responsible for causing this dispute and for NewJeans' departure and delayed return."

Previously, NewJeans' members had demanded the reinstatement of former CEO Min Heejin, who was dismissed due to conflicts with HYBE, but this was not accepted. In November 2024, they claimed their contracts were terminated due to ADOR's violations. ADOR insisted the contracts were still valid and filed a lawsuit to confirm the contracts' validity in December. The court sided with ADOR, ruling that the contracts were still valid.

Haerin and Hyein were the first to announce their return through ADOR, followed by Hanni. Minji is still in discussions regarding her return. However, ADOR has notified Danielle of the termination of her exclusive contract, drawing significant attention.
