"Doctor Slump" starring Park Hyung-sik and Park Shin-hye suffers a significant drop in ratings from 6.7% to 3.9%... Can they recover?

The JTBC weekend drama "Doctor Slump," starring Park Hyung-sik and Park Shin-hye, stumbled over the Lunar New Year holiday. While it achieved a peak rating of 6.7%, it suffered setbacks. Can it recover its viewer ratings?

"Dr. Slump" started off well, inheriting the momentum from the successful "Welcome to Samdal-ri" which ended with a peak rating of 12.4%. Its first episode recorded a rating of 4.1%, followed by 5.1% (2nd episode), 5.1% (3rd episode), and 6.7% (4th episode). However, the ratings for the 5th and 6th episodes aired during the Lunar New Year holiday took a nosedive. The 5th episode on February 10th garnered a rating of 3.7%, showing a significant drop. The following day's episode saw a slight increase of 0.2% compared to the previous day.

Competing against "Doctor Slump" are MBC's Friday-Saturday drama "Knight Flower", SBS's Friday-Saturday dramas "Flex X Cop", and tvN's "Captivating The King". During the Lunar New Year period, "Flex X Cop" opted for cancellation. "Knight Flower" aired as usual, while "Captivating The King" aired for four consecutive episodes. As a result, its ratings increased.

"Knight Flower" recorded a rating of 11% on February 9th but experienced a slight decrease compared to the previous week. The February 10th episode achieved a competitive rating of 12.9%. "Captivating The King" made a bold move by airing consecutively from Friday to Sunday, totaling four episodes during the holiday. Its ratings were 4.2% on February 9th, slightly down from the previous week. However, it increased to 4.7% on the 10th, 6.4% on the 11th, and 6.7%, setting a new peak rating.

The only drama to experience a decrease in ratings was "Doctor Slump." Due to the nature of the Lunar New Year holiday, television viewership tends to be dominated by parents or older adults, making viewer attrition inevitable. Additionally, the consecutive airing of "Captivating The King" disrupted the flow of both "Knight Flower" and "Doctor Slump".

With 16 episodes in total, "Doctor Slump" has yet to reach its turning point. It is gaining attention through online communities and word-of-mouth. If it continues to provide entertainment value, its viewership is likely to recover. Now that the holiday is over, the focus is on whether "Doctor Slump" can regain its audience.

-Since the OTT service is doing well, do we really need to focus on ratings? Look at Netflix, this drama is always in the top ranks there~

-But these days, dramas in general seem really boring, and as for variety shows... there's nothing much to say.

-But seriously, the story just lacks excitement.

-Park Shin-hye plays the role of a high school student turned doctor; she gives off such a similar vibe to her past dramas that I don't have any expectations and don't watch.

-It's slow-paced, so it can be a bit boring at times, but it's not unwatchable.

-It was so entertaining that I binge-watched episodes 1 to 6 on Netflix. Their chemistry is great.

-Wow, am I the only one finding it entertaining these days?

-The story is predictable and slow-paced, so I'm not really looking forward to the next episode... I'm also not sure about their chemistry.

-I find it fun, so I'm really just waiting for this...

-It's fun, it's the only drama I watch these days...

-The first two episodes were a bit exciting with some tension, but after that, it just feels like they keep eating, playing, drinking, and going to karaoke, so it wasn't great.

-It's entertaining, but it's not super exciting... Maybe everyone will just watch it when they have time? But still, I didn't expect the viewership to drop this much.

-I don't find it that entertaining eitherㅠㅠ I wait for the live broadcast but end up switching to OTT while watching. It seems like opinions are quite divided...

-I don't watch it and I'm not particularly curious about this combination...

-The dialogue is too cheesy...
