IU (Lee Jieun) has filed lawsuits against a large number of malicious commenters.

On the 11th, her agency, EDAM Entertainment, shared an update on the legal actions taken against individuals who posted malicious content about IU, including defamation, insults, spreading false rumors, malicious slander, and sexual harassment.

According to IU's side, she worked with the law firm Shinwon to file criminal and civil lawsuits against a total of 96 individuals last year. Since the last update, the court has issued 7 fines, 1 fine along with an order to complete a sexual violence treatment program, 3 suspended indictments with the conditions of completing educational programs, and 1 case of suspended prison sentence with probation. Additional complaints were filed against individuals who continued posting malicious content even after being sued once. For these individuals, formal trials were conducted instead of simple fines.

In particular, IU's side is taking strict action against illegal acts that invade the privacy of the artist and her family or threaten their safety. Recently, there have been multiple cases of people visiting IU's home, her family's home, or areas near her company to threaten her safety or demand money. These individuals were booked by police and are under investigation. IU's side stated, "We clearly declare that we will take strong legal action, including criminal charges, without any mercy, for acts that threaten the artist's safety. We strongly urge people to refrain from approaching or visiting the artist, her family, or associates under any circumstances."

We would like to inform you of the status of legal action taken against individuals who have posted malicious content about our artist, IU, including defamation, insults, spreading false rumors, malicious slander, and sexual harassment.

Through the law firm Shinwon, which is representing us legally, we have filed criminal and civil lawsuits against a total of 96 individuals last year (2025).

The subjects of the complaints and lawsuits include individuals who posted malicious content on platforms like Naver, Nate Pann, Daum, Theqoo, DC Inside, Threads, Instagram, Instiz, Ilbe, Youtube, and X (아이***, le***, _on***, 1o***, su***, so***, 7h***, 10***, ba***, my***, 코끼***, Ca***, 헤으***, 미카***, 자파***, om***, 화교***, 서로***, 와***, nr***, am***, se***, etc)

Since our previous notice, the court has issued 7 fines, 1 fine along with an order to complete a sexual violence treatment program, 3 suspended indictments with the conditions of completing educational programs, and 1suspended prison sentence of 10 months with 2 years’ probation and an order for probation supervision. For those who continued posting malicious content even after an initial complaint, additional charges were filed, and formal trial proceedings (not merely summary orders) were carried out.

Here are the major updates.

The court sentenced an individual who spread false rumors about the artist (spy allegations) to a fine of 5 million KRW. In a civil lawsuit for damages filed against an individual on X who made false plagiarism accusations against the artist, the court ordered them to pay the full 30 million KRW in damages. Additionally, the court also sentenced an individual who repeatedly spread false rumors regarding her nationality and identity along with sexual harassment content to 10 months in prison, suspended for 2 years, and ordered probation.

Additionally, a criminal complaint filed against 'cyber wrecker' Youtube accounts that spread defamatory and false information about the artist is currently under investigation. We also have filed a civil lawsuit for damages against a user on Threads who spread false information and defamed the artist. We are in the process of asking U.S. court to disclose information to identify the user.

In addition to malicious online posts, we are also responding strictly to illegal acts that invade the privacy of the artist and her family or threaten their personal safety. Recently, there have been multiple cases of individuals being arrested and investigated by police for visiting the artist's home, her family's residence, or areas near the company to threaten her safety or demand money. We clearly state that we will take strong legal action, including criminal charges, without mercy against any behavior that threatens the artist's safety. We strongly urge people to refrain from approaching or visiting the artist, her family, or associates under any circumstances.

We are currently taking legal steps against more malicious posts. In particular, we are proceeding with legal action against individuals on the platform Threads ((he***, xx***, da***, hh***, li***, pi***, hy***, yu***, etc) who posted defamatory, insulting, false, malicious, or sexually harassing content. We will announce further updates later.

In addition to valuable reports from fans, we are constantly monitoring and collecting evidence of malicious posts across portal sites and communities (Naver, Nate Pann, Daum, Theqoo, DC Inside, Waigosoo, Instiz, Ilbe, MLB Park, etc), social media platforms (Threads, Instagram, X, etc), music streaming sites (Melon, Bugs, etc) and Youtube.

We will continue to take strong legal action against any illegal acts that threaten the artist's honor and safety. We clearly state that we will hold perpetrators fully responsible to the end, without any settlement or leniency.

BLACKPINK Jennie purchases 20 billion KRW building in Yongsan

It has been lately confirmed that BLACKPINK Jennie purchased a building near Hannam New Town for 20 billion KRW.

On the 11th, according to investment banking (IB) and real estate sources, Jennie bought a building located in Dongbinggo-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul for 20 billion KRW last May and completed the ownership transfer in December of the same year. Since there are no loans recorded on the property, it is assumed that she paid the full amount in cash.

The building, completed in 1970, is located in the northern part of Dongbinggo-dong, an area densely populated with foreign embassies. It has been 19 years since actress Jung Dabin passed away.

On February 10, 2007, the late Jung Dabin was found dead in the bathroom of her boyfriend's home in Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. She was 26 years old.

At the time of her death, there were suspicions of murder. However, after doing an investigation, the police concluded it to be suicide based on the fact that there were no signs of struggle found on her body and the boyfriend's statement: "I brought Jung Dabin home while she was very drunk, and when I woke up, she was dead."

However, the family suspected murder and requested a reinvestigation. They pointed out that she left no suicide note and that she was scheduled to start filming a new drama in just two months. Also, she had a dermatology appointment scheduled two days later and had planned a trip to Southeast Asia with her friend, Jung Sunhee.

Eventually, an autopsy was performed at the family's request. However, the National Forensic Service concluded again that there were 'no signs of murder.' Although no suicide note was found, Jung Dabin had posted a message on her personal blog just one day before her death that said 'The End,' which seemed to hint at her feelings.

Even after the autopsy, Jung Dabin's mother could not accept that her daughter had committed suicide. In 2009, she appeared on a tvN's show where she requested a spirit possession ritual to communicate with her daughter. She said, "I feel like my child died so unfairly. As a mother, doing nothing feels like committing a great sin. I feel like I hear her voice telling me, 'Mom, do an interview.' Her tongue wasn't sticking out and her mouth was filled with blood. It's unbearable to look at. Thinking about that, I can't believe it was suicide." She added that she wanted to ask her daughter why she had to leave the world like that.

In the broadcast, a shaman attempting to connect with Jung Dabin shouted, "I'm so wronged! I'm so wronged!" and "I don't remember well what I did because I was so drunk, but I didn't die because I wanted to. How could I leave my mother?" This sparked controversy over 'disrespecting the dead,' but tvN responded, "The late actress' mother was so desperate to see her daughter even just for once. We wanted to comfort her. We tried to convey sincerity through the broadcast. There was absolutely no distortion or hidden intention."

Additionally, in 2011, news of a 'spirit wedding' shocked the public. The ceremony was reportedly held according to her mother's wishes to comfort the should of her unmarried daughter who passed away at such a young age. Jung Dabin was symbolically married in a spirit wedding to an unmarried man born in 1975, chosen by her mother.

Born on March 4, 1980, Jung Dabin starred in dramas such as 'Sweet Bride' and 'Soonpoong Clinic' and officially debuted as an actress through 'Don.com.' She became known as 'Little Choi Jinsil' after playing the younger version of the late Choi Jinsil in the movie 'The Legend of Gingko.' She gained major popularity through sitcoms 'New Nonstop' and 'Nonstop 3.' She also starred in movies and dramas such as 'He Was Cool,' 'Rooftop Room Cat,' 'My 19 Year Old Sister-in-Law,' and 'Typhoon in That Summer.' She also appeared in Baek Jiyoung's 'I Won't Love' MV released in 2006, which became her final work as she passed away just before filming her next project.

Jeon Jongseo belatedly registers her separate agency after three years

On the 10th, it was confirmed that Jeon Jongseo registered 'Summer Co., Ltd.,' which she founded in June 2022, as a public culture and arts management business on the 4th. This marks a 'late registration' for nearly about 3 years and 8 months after the company was founded. Jeon Jongseo serves as the CEO, while her boyfriend, Director Lee Chunghyun, is listed as the internal director of the company.

The company listed its business purposes as: ▲ film and drama content production, development, distribution, and agency services ▲actor entertainment and management ▲ rental of film and broadcast equipment and facilities ▲ content planning and sales.

Under current law, registration as a public culture and arts planning business is required to operate a management agency. It is assumed that Jeon Jongseo registered her company belatedly because she just learned this requirement.

A representative from ANDMARQ stated, "Summer was established to form a partnership between an actress and a director to plan projects together. In fact, Director Lee Chunghyun's directing and screenwriting contracts, as well as MV production back in 2024, were carried out through this company."

Regarding the late registration, the representative added, "Since management was not the company's main business, we didn't realize we needed to register it at first. After becoming aware of related issues recently, we corrected the matter."

The representative said, "Jeon Jongseo has nothing to do with the tax avoidance or evasion issues.
