Kim Hyeyoon, the only one among 200 actresses to understand Nietzsche's line --> Passed the audition for 'SKY Castle'

On the episode of tvN's 'You Quiz on the Block that aired on the 14th, Kim Hyeyoon made a guest appearance.

After 7 years as an unknown actress, Kim Hyeyoon beat out an intense competition with a ratio of 200 to 1 to pass the audition for 'SKY Castle.' She recalled that she remembered the audition vividly, saying, "I went with the mindset of ''Well, I'm gonna get rejected again today.'"

She continued, "There were so many beautiful and stunning people there. Bora Unnie was one of them. I remember thinking, 'She's a real celebrity,' as I entered the audition room."

She went on to explain, "There is something called 'same-day lines.' It's the script given to you right on the spot. Usually, it's not that long but that day, it was about 7 pages long. The scene was about Yeseo talking about Nietzsche's concept of freedom. They gave us a long script filled with difficult vocabulary."

Because the person before her took a longer time, Kim Hyeyoon ended up having a little more time to prepare. She thought to herself, "Let's at least understand what these words mean before I say the lines," and started searching frantically on her phone. She looked up what Yeseo meant to say and went into the audition. She said, "I thought, 'I'm gonna get rejected again,' but I passed. Later, when I asked the director why I was cast, he replied, 'You were the only one who actually understood what Yeseo's lines.'"

On the episode of tvN's 'You Quiz on the Block that aired on the 14th, Kim Hyeyoon made a guest appearance and looked back on the days when she was an unknown actress.

Kim Hyeyoon shared that she struggled a lot on set when she was young, saying, "When it was time for my lines, the set would go completely silent. It was so terrifying that I'd get incredibly nervous. Because of that, I didn't actually act during 'full shots.' I didn't even know that I was supposed to.'

Yoo Jaesuk responded in empathy, saying, "The terminology is really hard. When they say, 'We're taking the bust (shot),' you're like 'What does that mean?' When they say, 'Try to support this here,' you're like 'What am I supposed to support?' There are a lot of terms like that on sets. For a high school student with no social experience, those terms must've felt very unfamiliar."

Kim Hyeyoon also shared, "When I was a rookie, I experienced very severe verbal abuse. There were many things said that can't even be aired on TV. I heard a lot of swearing on set." She continued, "Whenever something upsetting happened, I would cry alone in the car. But I realized if I thought, 'I got scolded so much. I'm losing my confidence,' I would become intimidated on set and wouldn't be able to do what I needed to do."

Talking about her 7 years as an unknown actress, she confessed, "I felt hopeless. I wondered if I was doing okay, and it was also hard to balance acting with my studies." During that time, she worked without an agency, saying, "When filming in deep in the mountains, I would use the bus provided for supporting actors to use or asked my father for help. Also, when it was cold, the staff would offer me a heater, but I felt I hadn't earned the right to use one yet, so I said I was fine. I ended up getting frostbite on my fingers because of that," shocking the audience.

'158cm' Kim Hyeyoon: "I was told I was too short ... I auditioned over 100 times"

Kim Hyeyoon revealed that she was rejected at numerous auditions in the past because of her short height.

On the 14th, a preview video titled 'Over 100 auditions and 50 minor roles: Story of how Hyeyoon endured for years before becoming a rom-com queen' was uploaded to the official Youtube channel of tvN's 'You Quiz on the Block.'

In the clip, Yoo Jaesuk started by saying, "I heard people say I seem to find you really adorable." Kim Hyeyoon responded brightly, "Is it not? I personally thought so myself. Now I'm embarrassed," making Yoo Jaesuk laugh.

Yoo Jaesuk confirmed, "It's true. You always work so hard whenever you appear on a program. I laughed so hard because I heard you told the writers that."

Kim Hyeyoon shared that she has gone on over 100 auditions since she was 17 years old, sitting in the 10th grade. When asked about it, she surprised everyone by saying, "During my busiest times, I would go to as many as 3 auditions in a day."

Yoo Jaesuk noted, "I heard that because you kept getting rejected despite preparing so much, you started thinking, 'I guess I'm just a person who always fails.'" Kim Hyeyoon replied, "Since I got rejected so often, I would head to auditions thinking, 'Well, I'm gonna get rejected again today.'"

She added, "Every time I auditioned, I heard comments like, 'You're too short.' That made my height a big insecurity. Even when I felt a role didn't fit me, I wanted to pass so badly that I would make things up. I'm actually 158cm, but I wrote 160cm. It was obvious, but I still went around adding about 2cm to my height."

She also added that over 7 years, she appeared in 50 productions as a minor or extra roles, surprising everyone. When Yoo Jaesuk commented, "That couldn't have been easy to endure," she replied, "I felt hopeless. I wondered if I was doing okay, and it was also hard to balance acting with my studies."

The episode of 'You Quiz on the Block' featuring Kim Hyeyoon will air today at 8.45 PM (KST).

Kim Hyeyoon just arrived in Bali

-Her role in Extraordinary You was great, but it was Kang Yeseo who made Kim Hyeyoon popularㅋㅋㅋㅋ

-Im Sol💛 I've watched all of these dramas, and Sol stole my heart.
