-It just feels like a promotional ad for Dubai and Emirates Airlinesㅋㅋ

-I watched it from beginning to end and loved itㅜㅠㅠ

-The dialogue feels a bit old-fashioned + cheesy, but if you can handle the cringe, it’s watchable.

-I actually enjoyed it. There were questionable parts in the middle, but I cried so hard during the final episodeㅜㅜ

-I bawled during the last episode too. The beginning was fun, but the middle part was honestly hard to watchㅠㅠㅠ

-I started watching it out of boredom without high expectations, but I ended up enjoying it until the end.

-It was so boring I stopped halfway.

-Everyone said it was bad, so I watched it with low expectations, but I actually liked itㅎㅎ It's fine for killing time!! Suzy and Song Hyekyo are so gorgeous....

-It’s better than I thought.

-It’s boring and the acting is mediocre. It seems to have only made it this far because of the writer's name.

-I watched it and it’s not as bad as people say.

-I finished it but yeah... It wasn't fun...... ㅎ..

The religion offended by the drama 'Genie, Make a Wish'

I often check IMDb scores for Korean dramas, so I got curious about this drama’s rating and went to look.

The rating was surprisingly very low for a Kim Eunsook's drama, so I read the reviews. Seeing the ratings split into extremes, I looked down to the low scores and (as I expected) found viewers from a certain religion seemed to be offended? upset? Here are some examples:

-But honestly, I kinda expected this since the teaser was up. Especially since people these days are very sensitive about cultural appropriation.

-From Muslims' perspectives, they could reasonably feel offended.

-People were talking about this before the drama even aired.

-The drama really does look like it was made without much thought.

-Isn't this legitimate criticism rather than just being 'offended'?

-The drama really does look like it lacks consideration/respect for other cultures and religions.

-They certainly have every rights to feel offended...

-I knew this would happen.

-I get it, though. Can't the drama accept even this level of criticism?

-The drama is using Middle East as their background and even using religious terminology. So they have every rights to feel offended, don't they? If a Western series treated 'Grandmother Samsin' (NB: Goddess in Korean mythology) in an insulting way, I would be upset too.

-I can completely understand. Things can become sensitive once religious concepts are involved.

-There clearly was a lack of respect towards that religion, regardless of whether I personally liked the drama or not.

-Calling Muslims 'being offended' just doesn't sound right to me...

-It's not just 'being offended,' it's legitimate criticism. You calling it 'being offended' already shows that you have no respect for other cultures and religion.

The new Netflix K-Drama that's gaining mixed opinions

-I stopped watching after Ep 3ㅠㅠ I started my subscription to Netflix just to watch this...

-I heard that it had mixed opinions, so I was very worried when I started watching it... But it turns out to be really fun.

-I just can't bring myself to continue watching........

-This is perfect. I had nothing else to watch. I'll give this one a try.

-So boringㅠ

-I quit halfway through Ep 2. This one is not for me.

-I love it. Sometimes, we need a light drama to enjoy.

-I'm still on Ep 2 and it's kinda boring. The female lead's personality somehow reminds me of Wednesdayㅋㅋ She's like the cranky adult version of her. I don't think I click with Suzy's projects... I never found any of her works fun.

-I love itㅋㅋㅋ It's so fun.

-Honestly, it's boring. I watched up to Ep 5.

-I'm currently watching Ep 5 and it's super fun.

-I'm currently watching this drama now and it's really fun.

-I only watched Ep 1, but if you watch it without thinking, it's actually funㅋㅋㅋ I probably will finish this.

None of the production team attended. Only the actors carried out the press conference. Normally, the director almost always attends, but in this case, he didn't.

For reference, both of them attended the press conference for 'The Glory'

+Kim Eunsuk attended the press conference for 'The Glory,' 'Goblin,' and 'Descendants of the Sun.'

People speculate that they didn't come to avoid questions about the director replacement issue and the school bullying controversy surrounding him.

Following the phrase 'Let's go to the moon,' this drama becomes an issue overseas because of the character's setting

 

The issue is because of Kim Woobin's character in the drama being Satan and his name is Iblis. The etymology of Iblis is the same as Satan's: 'The one who tempts and tests humans.' In Islam, Iblis is a demon. For Muslims, it's not just a simple word origin. 

From their religious perspective, it's a horrifying and cruel symbol. Therefore, romanticizing or depicting it in a romantic way is considered inappropriate. Right now, the drama is being criticized for lacking religious and cultural sensitivity, especially since it is going to be released globally.
