The acceptance speeches by 'Our Unwritten Seoul' star Park Boyoung and director Park Shinwoo at the Baeksang Arts Awards have left a deep impression on many viewers.

At the 62nd Baeksang Arts Awards held on May 8 at COEX D Hall in Gangnam, Seoul, 'Our Unwritten Seoul' star Park Boyoung won the Best Actress Award in the television category, beating out strong nominees including Kim Goeun, Park Jihyun, Shin Hyesun, and Lim Yoona.

Taking the stage, Park Boyoung delivered a heartfelt acceptance speech in a trembling voice. She said, "I really hate competition, and there were many moments when I felt overwhelmed and exhausted due to constantly having to prove my worth and usefulness." She continued, "At times like that, I'd look around and see so many amazing actors beside me. I didn't want to fall behind. It made me want to do even better. Maybe those sharp-edged feelings of not wanting to lose are what made me who I am today."

She added, "I want to express my deep respect and gratitude to the many actors who have been good, well-intentioned competitors and, at times, my pacemakers."

Recalling the time she chose the project, Park Boyoung confessed, "I chose 'Our Unwritten Seoul' out of a great ambition. Until the filming began, I spent many days worrying and regretting my decision, wondering, 'With what confidence and courage did I choose this project?' and 'Can I really do a good job?' Every time that happened, reading the script gave me courage that I didn't even know I had."

Lastly, Park Boyoung said, "To all the 'deers' and 'hermit crabs' in this world, I want to say this: yesterday is over, tomorrow is still far away, and we don't know yet about today. So, let's just live well through today." Her words deeply resonated with both the audience at the venue and viewers at home.

On the same day, 'Our Unwritten Seoul' director Park Shinwoo, who won the Best Director award in the television category, also touched viewers with his speech.

Director Park stated, "We live in a world where if you are not useful, you are left behind. I believe TV dramas should exist for those who have nowhere to lean on, who are lonely, who don't even have the time to go anywhere, or who cannot afford to pay to watch something." He continued, "I believe existing for those people is the true 'purpose of drama.'"

After the two shared their heartfelt acceptance speeches, messages of empathy and support flooded online communities.

Netizens reacted with comments like, "Park Boyoung's trembling acceptance speech felt like it completed 'Our Unwritten Seoul'" "It was a drama that gave me great comfort during difficult times," and "Watching this drama at the end of an exhausting day gives me the strength to live through tomorrow."

BLACKPINK Jennie earns 24 billion KRW in settlements just two years after founding her entertainment company

SOURCE: 블랙핑크 제니, 엔터社 창업 2년 만에 정산금 240억 ‘대박’

BLACKPINK's Jennie reportedly received over 20 billion KRW in settlement payments over the past two years through the entertainment company she founded. These settlements consisted of income from her concerts, advertisements, appearance fees, and other individual activities. By securing a more favorable settlement structure compared to the typical ones under other entertainment agencies, the amount of profit returning directly to her appeared to have increased significantly.

According to the Financial Supervisory Service on the 9th, OA Entertainment paid Jennie 9.5 billion KRW last year as a settlement. Combined with the 14.3 billion KRW paid in 2024, her total settlement earnings over two years reached 23.8 billion KRW.

In November 2023, Jennie established her own one-person agency, OA Entertainment, to manager her individual activities. OA stands for ODD ATELIER, refering to a space for creating new things that garner attention. Jennie owns 100% of the company's shares, while her mother, Park Nana, serves as CEO.

Thanks to Jennie's active career, OA Entertainment reportedly became profitable immediately after its establishment and has maintained a stable financial structure. In 2024, effectively its first full year of operation, the company recorded 18.9 billion KRW in revenue and 580 million KRW in operating profit. In 2025, the revenue increased by 26% year-on-year to 23.8 billion KRW, while the operating profit decreased by 33% to 390 million KRW.

It was also revealed that, in addition to receiving large settlements from the company, Jennie also personally supported the company's operating funds. OA Entertainment's shareholder loans stood at 2.86 billion KRW at the end of last year, more than eight times higher than the previous year. Although the company posted net profits, its operationg cash flow was negative, which means the loans were intended to cover operating expenses and timing gaps in settlement payments.

Jennie is not the only artist to establish an entertainment company and receive settlements in the tens of billions of KRW. A representative example is PSY, who founded P NATION. According to P NATION's audit report, the company paid PSY approximately 17 billion KRW in settlement last year. This large sum is believed coming from major revenue generated through events like his 'Summer Swag' concert series. Additionally, former TVXQ member Kim Jaejoong also established iNKODE Entertainment in 2023 to manage his personal activities and has since expanded to train new artists as well.

An entertainment industry official explained, "In the past, agencies mainly took on the investment and risk while sharing profits with artists. Recently, more artists with established recognition and fandoms are creating their own corporations and promoting independently. For top artists, operating through an independent company is advantageous in terms of profit distribution structure."

Jeon Somi expressed her dissatisfaction about some of her past promotional activities.

On the 8th, a video titled 'Girls, do you wanna make a comeback?' was posted to the Youtube channel 'Zip Daesung.'

In this video, Jeon Somi mentioned that she still had lingering regrets about her past activities. She explained that as part of the 'first generation' of audition shows, there were many difficult memories. Even though IOI had been extremely busy, they never got to go on tour. Daesung teased her by saying, "You just ended up filling everyone else's plates but your own."

In response, Jeon Somi said, "I do programs with a truly grateful heart, but there was one thing that I really didn't want to do. We did it to promote our music, but it was a haunted house experience. It was so scary. I was only 16."

Daesung sympathized, noting that appearing on variety shows from a broadcasting station was often tied together with appearing on their music programs like a package deal. Choi Yoojung added, "I feel like these days, they do everything," while Kim Sohye commented, "We only promoted for one year, but these days, groups promote for much longer."
