Goo Junyeop wore a coat he received as a gift on the first anniversary of the late Barbie Hsu's passing.
On the 2nd, Taiwanese singer and MC Matilda Tao posted a long message on her personal channel, sharing her feelings about the unveiling ceremony of the late Barbie Hsu's memorial statue.
She wrote, "The wind and rain were strong. The ocean waves were also rough all the way there. It was hard to imagine how Goo Junyeop, Barbie Hsu's husband, traveled this lonely road every day."
She added, "Goo Junyeop was wearing a coat that Barbie Hsu gave him 27 years ago. Barbie Hsu's mother also showed the shoes her daughter gave her," confirming that the coat Goo Junyeop wore at the ceremony was a present Barbie Hsu had given him during her lifetime.
Goo Junyeop previously appeared on SBS' 'Dolsing Fourmen', where he shared his love story with Barbie Hsu and revealed that he had kept the coat for 23 years. At the time, he said, "There's a coat at my place that Barbie bought for me 23 years ago. I couldn't bring myself to throw it away."
He also expressed his deep affection for the late Barbie Hsu, saying, "When we got married, there was something I returned to her. There was a mirror she had left behind when she visited South Korea 23 years ago. I gave it back to her when we got married."
At the statue unveiling ceremony, Goo Junyeop wore the coat and said, "Barbie, I miss you," moving everyone present to tears. He also cried in front of family and friends, drawing deep sympathy.
Meanwhile, Barbie Hsu passed away suddenly from acute pneumonia on February 2 last year while traveling in Japan, three years after marrying Goo Junyeop.
