Jo Byunggyu loses 4 billion KRW lawsuit against school bullying accuser ... Court: "Difficult to prove the claims are false"

Jo Byunggyu has lost the first trial in a multi-billion KRW damages lawsuit he filed against the person who accused him of school bullying.

According to legal sources on the 1st, the Seoul Central District Court’s Civil Division 37 ruled against Jo Byunggyu and his former agency, HB Ent., in the lawsuit seeking about 4 billion KRW in damages from the accuser, identified as A. The court denied all claims made by Jo Byunggyu's side and ordered them to pay all legal costs.

Jo Byunggyu's side had argued, "A damaged our reputation by posting false claims." They continued, "Because of this, we suffered 4 billion KRW in losses due to canceled endorsement contracts and lost roles in dramas, movies, and variety shows." They also demanded compensation, including 200 million KRW for emotional damages.

However, the court stated, "Based on the evidence submitted, it is difficult to conclude that the post contained false information." The court added, "There is nothing in the conversation records between A and acquaintances that acknowledge the claims were fabricated. It appears that A deleted the post not because the content was false, but out of fear of being sued or facing a massive lawsuit for damages."

The court added, "It's also possible that A deleted the post knowing that even sharing truthful facts can lead to punishment for defamation in South Korea."

Furthermore, the court also dismissed the written statements from about 20 of Jo Byungyu's acquaintances that were submitted as evidence, saying "They are all Jo Byunggyu's acquaintances in South Korea, making it difficult to verify the facts of an incident that allegedly happened in New Zealand." The court judged that it is hard to prove the claims were false based only on the statements of people who are acquainted with Jo Byunggyu.

The court concluded, “The material submitted by Jo Byunggyu makes it difficult to prove that the allegations in A's post were entirely unfounded," and dismissed Jo Byunggyu's claim.

Jo Byunggyu's side has appealed the first trial's ruling. Separately, the criminal defamation case filed by Jo Byunggyu against A was also dismissed by the prosecution.

[+212][-7] He lost the lawsuitㅋㅋㅋㅋ

[+193][-6] He should have just stayed quiet.

[+143][-6] What is this? Why is he doing this again?

[+27][-1] If he lost, then the school bullying claims must be true.

[+22][-1] The fact that he tried to silence the victim with money is so infuriating. So shameless.

[+20][-1] From a revenge perspective, the timing was kind of thrilling The scandal broke right when he was skyrocketing to fame with 'The Uncanny Counter'ㅋㅋ

Over 110,000 people gather in Hongdae, Itaewon station closed ... Halloween crowds return after 3 years

On the night of the 31st, Seoul’s major nightlife districts were packed with young people celebrating Halloween and Friday night.

In Hongdae, over 100,000 people gathered, leading to serious concerns about overcrowding. In Itaewon, the main alley, where the 2022 tragedy occurred, was completely closed off and subways skipped the station without stopping. There were several dangerous situations in various spots, but fortunately no major accidents occurred because of the police's strict crowd control.

According to Yonhap News, approximately 110,000 people were counted in the Hongdae tourist area between 9 PM and 11 PM. This means the crowd levels have returned to what they were before the Itaewon tragedy in 2022. Large LED screens on the streets displayed a red warning message that says 'Extremely crowded.'

Fortunately, the crowding eased as rain fell late at night, and the crowd eventually decreased to 88,000 people around midnight. An official from the Mapo-gu office said, "We expected a maximum of 100,000 people, but even more showed up."

The Hongdae club street and surrounding alleys were so full of young people, there was no room to place one's feet. Although police set up fences and encouraged one-way walking, people in costumes kept stopping in many places to take photos, causing the people behind them to surge forward repeatedly.

Safety officers repeatedly shouted, "Please keep walking, don't stop" Narrow alleys experienced bottlenecks and long lines to enter the clubs stretched long on both sides of the sidewalk, making the walking paths even narrower.

The situation in Itaewon was similar. Messages like 'Extremely crowded, please detour' were shown on electronic signs there as well. On the Global Food Street, people's shoulders constantly bumped into each other, and it took 10 minutes to walk just 300 meters.

At the alley behind the Hamilton Hotel, where the Itaewon tragedy in 2022 happened, the crowd built up, and entry was blocked starting around 10:20 PM. By 10:30 PM, the crowd was estimated at about 11,000 people. From 11:00 PM, Subway Line 6 skipped Itaewon Station in both directions. A police officer on site explained, "The station was closed because the crowd was too large and there was risk of accidents."

However, no major accidents occurred until 1 AM. In Itaewon, about 455 security personnel, including 250 police officers, were deployed and actively guided people to walk on the right side. Oh Hyuncheol (48), a delivery rider who works primarily in Itaewon, said, "During the tragedy, there were no police. It was a total chaos. But tonight, veryone was guided to the right, so it feels safer." One person reported ankle pain near Itaewon Station but was treated on-site by emergency staff.

The crowds continued to decrease starting around 11:30 PM as the night rain began. In Hongdae, the line to enter the subway station stretched over 50 meters. Some young people, who appeared to be drunk, were instead excited, shouting, "We don't want to go home!" as the night came to an end.

[+1,246][-97] They're at it again.

[+1,003][-156] Completely hopeless idiots with loose screws in their heads... Honestly, I think they deserve to die.

[+969][-187] They aren't afraid because if an accident happens, people will treat with like some kind of an independence movementㅎㅎ

[+87][-9] Sigh… and if an accident happens, they'll just demand the country take responsibility.

[+72][-9] Look how quickly they swarmed there like animals in heat right after the last accident! If something happens again, I won’t pity the ones who die, but I’ll feel sorry for their parents.

[+71][-8] It’s insane… If another accident happens, they’ll just throw tantrums and blame the government again. The first accident was tragic, and I mourned, but if people still go despite knowing the risk and an accident happens, all I can do is curse.

Hwasa replied, "Everyone around me worries every time they see me, but I'm actually very healthy right now. I really want to tell everyone not to worry about me."

Yoo Inna added, "Your complexion looks great, and being next to you, I can feel that your energy feels so healthy. Did you lose a lot of weight?" Hwasa replied, "I think I lost about 5kg. Body fat is what's really bad for your health, isn't it? I think I lost a lot of body fat. I've been working out hard lately, and because I lost a lot of body fat, I look even thinner."

When asked if she wanted to keep her current weight after her promotions end, she said, "First, I'll keep it until November, and then I'll see what kind of body I want next." When asked what food she’s craving most, she answered, "I really want to eat pizza. I don't usually like flour-based food, but I want to fold a pizza in three layers and just gobble it down."

Hwasa also shared her diet, saying, "I ate pumpkin sweet potatoes (호밤고구마) instead of rice, along with eggs and chicken breast. I cooked the eggs with a steamer and ate them like baked eggs.” Hearing this, Yoo Inna commented, "You seem to know how to make anything taste delicious," and Hwasa replied, "You have to be happy when you eat."

G-Dragon sings 'POWER' in a traditional hat ... World leaders pull out their phones to take pictures

At the 2025 APEC Summit Welcome Dinner held in Gyeongju on the 31st, several world leaders including Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, immediately pulled out their phones when G-Dragon began to perform. President Lee Jaemyung watched G-Dragon's stage while speaking with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

The official diner was attended by over 400 key figures, including President Lee and his wife, leaders and spouses from 21 APEC member and guest nations, representatives from international organizations, top global CEOs, and more. The event was hosted by Cha Eunwoo, who is currently serving in the military.

Among the performances prepared, G-Dragon's stage seemed to have captivated the world leaders. G-Dragon appeared wearing a hat that looked like the traditional Korean headwear 'Gat' and introduced himself to the audience, saying, "I'm singer G-Dragon, APEC 2025 Korea Ambassador." He then performed 'POWER,' which was released last October.

During his performance, Prime Minister Carney, along with Chilean Foreign Minister Alberto van Klaveren, and Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul's wife, Tinanont Niramit, were spotted filming the performance. President Xi Jinping was also captured listening to Presiden Lee Jaemyung explain something while watching G-Dragon's stage.

Later, President Xi Jinping smiled as he was handed a paper butterfly during the children's choir performance. The choir members came down from the stage during their performance to hand the paper butterflies to the guests seated in the front rows. This was reportedly meant to represent the cultural performance's theme: 'Journey of Butterfly: Together, We Fly.'

Other performances included appearances by choreographers Leejung and Honey J, known for their work in the Netflix animation 'K-Pop Demon Hunters,' and violinist Kim Yuna.

The menu at the dinner was developed by Chef Edward Lee, which blended Korean and Western cuisine.Korean dishes such as namul bibimbap and galbijjim using ingredients from Gyeongju were served, along with Western dishes like pies and caramel desserts.

[+73][-2] I support Korea becoming a leader among international communities. Today’s community is one where we move forward together, not one of enemies and allies.

[+73][-7] They picked the perfect ambassador. Lee Jaemyung is definitely sharp.

[+68][-6] This is how cool South Korea actually is... It was not the corrupt, backward nation that the former 'Pants' and 'Bribery Monster' ruined for the past 3 years!

[+67][-9] GD’s got real talent and amazing stage presence… he’s just so cool.

[+58][-4] Did you get a good taste of K-Culture? Now, please lift the Hallyu ban.

[+51][-3] Truly the best!

[+44][-2] So proud~ GD ♥︎

[+43][-1] As expected from world leaders, they have high standards.
