Former AOA member Kwon Mina cancels fan meeting following suicide attempt ... Full refunds to be issued

According to OSEN's report on the 8th, Kwon Mina's first solo fan meeting, which was scheduled for the 23rd at H-Stage in Seoul, has been cancelled.

The reason for the cancellation was 'unavoidable circumstances of the artist.' The organizers announced that all purchased tickets will be automatically fully refunded, with the refund process carried out according to the payment method.

On the 1st, Kwon Mina wrote, "I'm truly grateful to everyone who cherished me, loved me, and treated me like a human being. And I'm also sorry... I hope everyone continues to live a long, happy, joyful life in a harmonious family atmosphere. I'm sorry," before attempting to take her own life. She was dramatically rescued.

After being rescued, Kwon Mina raised concern as she posted a long message describing the domestic violence by her father that she experienced in her childhood, extreme financial hardship, assault and sexual violence she experienced in her teenage years, and bullying by a fellow member during her time as an idol. In particular, OSEN revealed that she had unilaterally cancelled some schedules prior to her attempt, leading to increased worries about her condition.

Kwon Mina debuted in 2012 as a member of AOA and left the team later in 2019. She gained public sympathy after claiming she had been bullied by other members. However, she later faced criticism due to controversies including allegations of power abuse toward a nurse, accusations of pressuring someone to breakup, and questions regarding her sincerity during her apologies and explanations in SNS live broadcasts.

After a period of self-reflection, she returned and signed an exclusive contract with Modenberry Korea, preparing for her first-ever solo fan meeting. She suddenly announced the termination of her contract, which sparked curiosity. However, Modenberry Korea clarified they would still handle her business and proceed with the fan meeting as planned.

Fans were initially relieved to hear that she was resting at home and recovering health, but the cancellation of her fan meeting due to the artist's 'unavoidable circumstances' has left deep disappointment.

1. [+449][-26] Does she even have fans?

2. [+384][-23] It seems like the event was cancelled because not enough people bought the tickets, and that probably made her depressed.

3. [+229][-17] Hmm... I don't want to know about this anymore. Please stop publishing articles about her.

4. [+26][-0] Sigh... I feel bad for her. Instead of drowning in self-pity, I hope she gets through this quickly, regains her health, and start a new chapter in her life.

5. [+23][-6] You're a beautiful young lady. You entered society quite early and probably encountered some bad people, but if you live long enough, you'll find that for every 2 bad people, there are about 8 good ones. If you just express that you're struggling, people will help you. Think of your parents. Stay strong. Try to overcome this. The more you overthink, the more negative thoughts take over your body~ You have to stop those thoughts altogether~~

1. [+67][2-] When I see someone this skinny, the first thing that comes into my mind is not 'They look pretty,' but 'How do they even manage to walk?'

2. [+43][-2] Who even started using the term 'stick skinny'?

3. [+32][-2] At some point, people no longer consider celebrities as human if they weighed over 50kg... Isn't it weirder not to be over 50kg?

4. [+5][-1] Her body can only handle it because she's still young. If she keeps this up, her health will be ruined soon.

"Sitting next to this person is literally hell" ... Constant sighing and irritation actually wreck your body

There are times when you feel completely drained, as if all the energy has been sucked out of your body, after clashing with your boss at work or fighting through a packed subway to get home. This phenomenon has long been dismissed as a simple mental fatigue or mood issue. However, it has been scientifically proven that it's actually the result of our noses collecting stress signals from bodies of people around us, triggering an alarm inside our own bodies.

According to the European Psychiatric Association (EPA) on the 8th, a research team led by Dr. Elisa Vigna at the Karolinska Institute in Sweden showed findings that microscopic chemical signals in human sweat can be transmitted to other people's brains and immune systems in real-time. After analyzing sweat samples collected from subjects watching horror movies or experiencing intense pressure, the team confirmed that sweat produced due to stress has a completely different chemical composition from sweat produced after ordinary exercise.

The chemical signals in 'sweat stress' may not be consciously detected by the sense of smell, but they are delivered directly to the amygdala, which is the emotional control center of the brain, via the vomeronasal organ inside the nose. Experiments showed that people exposed to the scent of 'sweat stress' immediately showed activation in the anxiety-related region of brain. They also unconsciously display physiological synchronization, including increased blood cortisol levels (a hormone that raises blood pressure and blood sugar to help the body fight stress.)

These findings support the theory of human chemical communications that was proposed by Professor Bettina Pause of the Heinrich Heine University Dรผsseldorf, suggesting that humans, just like animals, share threat signals through scent.

A particularly notable point of this study is that such emotional contagion goes beyond simple mood changes and actually weakens the immune system. When the body detects another person's stress signals, it views them as an external threat and enters a defensive state. During this process, the activity of NK (Natural Killer) cells, which attack cancer cells and viruses, was found to decrease significantly. Therefore, spending a long time in enclosed spaces with highly stressed coworkers can be an act of impairing your own biological defenses, much like secondhand smoking.

Experts emphasize that to protect yourself from this kind of chemical contagion, you should pay as much attention to 'emotional hygiene' as you do to physical hygiene. Regular ventilation doesn't just clean the air, but it is also a practical preventive measure that washes away the stress-related chemical signals in the space. Furthermore, since stress transmission travels directly through the connection between the sense of smell and the brain, aromatherapy or taking short walks to change the air can be effective to protect your immunity.

1. [+196][-6] There really are people who sigh and get irritated over nothing. Just being near them makes me feel like crap too.

2. [+189][-16] I think people who drains other people's energy really do exist~ When I visit a nursing home, I feel like all my energy is sucked out, but when I watch kids playing at a playground or dogs running around, I feel like it boosts my energy~ Whether it's just my mood or something else, there's definitely something to it!!

3. [+169][-4] The person who cause the harm is usually the only one who doesn't realize it.

4. [+33][-1] When you work with a negative person, you feel more drained even if the work is going well! They just suck your energy dry.

5. [+30][-2] I fired a part-timer who would be on their phone laughing when the business is slow and would sigh nonstop when customers poured in. The store's atmosphere became instantly fresh again!

"Something like this happened at Seoul National University?" All 59 students in a major course receive F grades out of the blue ... Here's why

A controversy has erupted after lecturer at Seoul National University failed to meet the grade submission deadline, resulting in every student in the class receiving F grades.

According to Yonhap News and other sources on the 7th, it was confirmed that a lecturer in charge of a major course in the College of Social Sciences during the 2nd semester of last year failed to input grades by the deadline.

The grade submission deadline was on the 26th of December. However, on the 25th, the lecturer announced that 'there has been a change in my overseas schedule' and promised to finalize the grades by the 2nd of January. On the 2nd, the lecturer posted another notice saying, "I have caught the flu, making it difficult to meet the deadline."

According to SNU's academic regulations, if the grade field is left blank or marked as 'I' (Incomplete) at the deadline, it is automatically processed as an 'F' or 'U' (Unsuccessful). As a result, all 59 students enrolled in the course received F grades.

Controversy erupts as it was discovered that the lecturer was regularly posting updates on their personal blog and social media while the grade submission was delayed. Students expressed their frustration over this, and a post on an anonymous student community said, "I suffered mentally until the very last moment while taking this course. For the sake of future students, I hope some kind of action is taken."

As the backlash grew, the lecturer reportedly sent an email to students the previous day, saying, "I offer my deepest apologies," and added that grades would finally released around the afternoon of 8th or noon on the 9th.

1. [+141][-7] How irresponsible... Do that lecturer realize what they've done to these students just because of their personal circumstances?

2. [+83][-10] Is this person just a lecturer, not a professor? This is the reason why people say universities are meaningless in the AI era. If you're an lecturer or a professor, please ask yourself whether you can teach better or provide more accurate information than an AI. And don't give me that nonsense about how professors' main job is research instead of teaching. That's a joke. Most professors just play politics and stop doing real research once they get tenure. Except for medical schools, universities are pointless. Doctors are the best.

3. [+6][-0] That lecturer is acting exactly like those criminal politicians who gets paid for doing nothing. You are not fit to be a lecturer.

4. [+5][-0] Someone who can't even handle their basic responsibilities only ends up causing harm to others.

5. [+4][-0] I can tell what the lecturer's gender is without even lookingใ…‹

'Two employees attempted taking their own lives in just 2 months?' ... Signs of workplace harassment

Claims have emerged that 2 employees at a factory in Daeso-myeon, Eumseong-gun, North Chungcheong Province, attempted to take their own lives one after another.

According the a family member 'A' on the 7th, the two employees who worked at Factory B attempted suicide between November and December last year, and one of them passed away.

A is reported to have discovered call recordings on the deceased's phone that contain indications of workplace harassment.

These employees working at Factory B are said to be affiliated with Company C, an outsourcing company that supplies labor to the factory.

A representative from Factory B said, "The employee who attempted suicide was a dispatched worker, so personnel management is handled by Company C. Please direct your inquiries to them."

In response, a representative from Company C replied, "There was one case where an employee attempted suicide in late November, but there has been no additional case. We are taken aback."

However, A countered that they had met with the family of another employee who attempted suicide to discuss a response. A also claimed that they have evidence that another employee also attempted suicide.

A stated, "There are 4 perpetrators and there is evidence that they harassed my family member and the other employee. We are planning to report this to the Ministry of Employment and Labor soon."

An official from the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) stated, "If the allegations are true, we suspect there is a habitual abuse of power or violations of workplace safety laws. If the family agrees, we will also consider a union-level response."

Factory B produces IV fluids, finished and raw cephalosporin products, and general pharmaceutical raw materials to domestic and overseas markets.

1. [+122][-1] I just can't understand people who bully others even after becoming adults. What is wrong with them? Is playing Iljin at that age really fun? It's so patheticใ…œ

2. [+92][-0] It's already hard enough for grown adults to get through a day because of work... And yet they're still out there bullying each other. Their futures must be in the gutter. They aren't kids anymore... Seeing adults act like this is just so pathetic. You'd only understand how it feels if it happened to you.

3. [+85][-2] This is so frustrating. Instead of taking their own lives, they should be taking the perpetrators' lives and turn themselves in to the police. Did they really think the perpetrators even blink an eye when they die? Killing the perpetrators first and confessing to the crime would be a better help to themselves, their families, the society, and the country.

4. [+10][-1] Human trash….

5. [+6][-1] You can just change jobs~ Why die? Even if you want to die, you should at least see it through so there's no injustice left. That company isn't the only place in the world for you to work~ They could've just quit!!

"Is this really South Korea?" ... A woman in her 30s shocked by the overly open restroom in a shopping area

On the afternoon of the 6th, a woman in her 30s, identified as 'A,' who lives in Mapo, Seoul, visited a cafe in Mangwon-dong with a friend.

Before moving to another location, A went to the restroom on the 2nd floor of the cafe building, but she ended up unable to use it and hurriedly returned home.

According to the photos submitted by A, when you open the iron door of the restroom, there is a sink and men's urinal on the left, and two toilets on the right. However, the two toilets are only separated by a translucent glass wall, making it possible to see the figures on the other sides clearly.

Most shocking of all, the toilets are not in separate stalls, but are placed completely out in the open without any partitions or screens. It is just an open space where the two toilets and a men's urinal are placed together.

A said, "The moment I opened the restroom door and stepped in, I couldn't believe my eyes. Is this really a restroom in our country? I have no idea what they were thinking when they designed this."

A added, "The door requires a passcode to enter, but I still felt extremely anxious that someone would suddenly come in while I was sitting on the toilet, so I couldn't bring myself to use it and just left."

3. [+963][-25] What on earth were they thinking when they built that?

4. [+56][-0] Even 30 years ago, restrooms like that didn't exist. Even old-fashioned pit toilets had partitions and doors. The person who made this can't be Korean, right??

5. [+55][-0] If you report this to the sanitation department of the local district office, they will issue an order to correct the restroom~
