Dispatch wins 'Journalist of the Month' award for reporting Song Mino's public service duties neglect

 

Dispatch’s social and entertainment journalists Kim Jiho and Kim Sojung have won the 412th Journalist of the Month Award (Category 2: Investigative Reporting).

The Korean Journalists Association (President Park Jong-hyun) held the 412th Journalist of the Month Award ceremony at the Press Center in Jung-gu, Seoul at 11 AM on the 23rd. A total of 9 entries were selected for the award.

JTBC won the first category for investigative reporting for their coverage of the sexual harassment case at Lotteria, while Dispatch won the second category for investigative reporting. Meanwhile, KBS Chuncheon won the broadcasting category for their documentary.

Dispatch's award-winning report, "Tracking Public Service Duty Negligence by a K-pop Idol," exposed WINNER's Song Mino for neglecting his public service duties. Reporters Kim Jiho and Kim Sojung also highlighted vulnerabilities in the attendance reporting system.

The two journalists also urged the need to implement electronic recording systems like attendance cards in their report. Following Dispatch's report, the Military Manpower Administration immediately responded and launched an investigation into the public service negligence.

The police are currently investigating Song Mino for alleged violations of the Military Service Act. On the 6th the 'Song Mino Prevention Act' was introduced. The Mayor of Seoul City, Oh Sehun, also ordered an emergency investigation into the status of public service workers.

Journalist Kim Sojung commented, "Other (public service workers) were performing their duties properly. Song Mino did not come to work for over a month. I believe it's necessary to make changes when someone is exploiting the system."

Joo Jihoon, from crown price to an emperor? ... In talks to star in 'The Remarried Empress'

Actor Joo Jihoon is expected to portray the role of royalty once again, following his roles in 'Goong' and 'Kingdom.'

According to a report by IZE on the 24th, Joo Jihoon has been offered to play the role of the emperor of the Eastern Empire in the fantasy romance titled 'The Remarried Empress' and is positively considering the offer. His agency cautiously responded, saying, "It's true that he received the offer and is considering it, but nothing has been confirmed yet."

'The Remarried Empress' is based on a popular web novel with the same title. It tells the story of Navier, the perfect empress of the Eastern Empire, who is divorced by her husband, Emperor Sovieshu, due to his infidelity. Later, she remarries the prince of the Western Kingdom, Heinrey, becoming an empress once again. The series has gained a strong fanbase and is also being serialized as a Webtoon.

The role that Joo Jihoon is positively considering is Sovieshu, the emperor of Eastern Empire and also Navier's first husband. He is the character at the root of the dramatic conflict in 'The Remarried Empress,' portrayed as a 'bad boy' but also as a charming character.

Previously, Shin Minah has been confirmed to play the role of Navier, while Lee Jongsuk is being considered to take the role of her second husband. If Joo Jihoon joins the cast, it is expected to result in a 'golden casting' with a perfect 100% synchronization to the characters in the original work.

A 30-year-old man, who is the leader of a cybercrime group in Telegram that sexually exploited 234 people has been arrested and handed over to prosecutors.

The victims were forced to report their daily activities to A every hour, and if they disobeyed instructions, they were coerced into taking nude photos or harming themselves. Ten underage female victims were told that they had to have sex with an 'unknown man' to "graduate" (escape his control) and were then sexually assaulted by "A" himself, who pretended to be this 'unknown man' himself. He even ordered members of his group to engage in sexual acts with each other as punishment for disobeying orders.

The number of victims in this case reaches 234 people. Among them, 159 are minors. This is more than three times the 73 victims of 'Nth Room' operated by Jo Joobin (30) and others for sexual exploitation in 2019 an 220. Two days ago, on the 22nd, the police held a Personal Information Disclosure Review Committee for suspect A and are considering disclosing his personal information.

At around 8:33 AM on that day, A got into the transport vehicle without answering any of the reporters' questions, such as "Did you commit the crime to satisfy your sexual desires?", "When did you start planning the crime?", and "Do you not feel sorry for the victims?"

Sexual Exploitation Telegram group, involving 200 victims which is three times the number of victims in Nth Room case, has been exposed;;;

 

A 33 y.o man who made over 1400 sexual exploitation materials have been arrested.

The structure of the organization consists of Pastor, Deacon, Evangelists, and Prospective Evangelist. Excluding the Pastor, they all in charge of searching for victims and producing the sexual exploitation materials. It's revealed that among there are 14 members in total, 11 of whom are minors.

The text said: "Hello! Are you interested in sharing materials and joining our Telegram chat room? We have different chat rooms for humiliating acquaintances, celebrities, and porn."

They start by obtaining the victims' personal information and phone numbers, then use it to blackmail the victims.

Detective Oh Gyusik (From Seoul Cyber Crime Investigation Division) said, "The victims were threatened by being told that their photos would be shared on Telegram and that they should apologize to the Telegram room administrator."

The victims were forced to obey orders like slaves and be trained. They were also threatened with having their personal information exposed.

One of the victim's message is revealed to be saying, "Master-nim, I went to watch a movie after school. I just got home and and about to take a shower". Along with details like below:

08.00 - 10.00 : School
10.00 - 12.00 : Watch movie
12.00 - 13.00 : Lunch
14.00 - 18.00 : Rest
19.00 - 20.00 : Dinner
21.00 - 22.00 : Prepare for bed
23.00 - 24.00 : Sleep

The perpetrators would order the victims like, "Get on your knees naked and read your apology letter."

It is reported that this case has three times more victims than in 'Nth Room' case led by Cho Joobin.

The victims were told, "You can only escape this situation if you have sex with the men." The perpetrators then committed cruel acts against 10 teenage girls.
