Actress Moon Sori admitted she avoided feminist clubs and senior women's activists throughout her college days

Moon Sori stated, “Throughout college, I avoided feminist clubs and senior women’s activists. But living in South Korea has made me a feminist, there was no way I couldn’t become one,” she said, adding, “I even confessed to my husband that I am a feminist.”

She continued, “One day, I realized I had become a feminist. It’s not about supporting one gender and disliking another, but about opposing discrimination in politics, economics, society, and culture,” she explained. “Though feminism is derived from the feminine, and therefore carries a feminine meaning. However, the goal is to oppose discrimination against anyone, regardless of gender, so naturally, that’s the direction I went.”

+I’m not posting this to criticize, but because I agree with the part about society making women into feminists! I’ll leave the title as it is for now.

theqoo

-I agree. It's the society that makes things this way.

-Yeah, I used to avoid feminist-related topics because they made me uncomfortable, but reality has made it impossible not to care.

-Isn’t being a feminist the default for women?ㅋㅋㅋ

-Is there any woman who isn’t a feminist?

-I understand what she's trying to point out! I used to not have any interest in feminism, but society forces me to pay attention. I didn't realize that it was a necessity.

-I’ve lived my life believing women deserve the same rights. Why do men in Korea have such an issue with feminism? Yeah, I’m a feminist. What are you going to do with that?

-I used to criticize feminists in high school (I'm sorry. It's my dark past). But after going to college, meeting classmates, attending gender studies lectures, and taking related classes, I became a feminist. Moreover, the society made me into one.

-I totally relate. I didn't even know what feminism means, I wasn’t interested in feminism at allㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ I didn’t know back then. All women are feminists.

-I used to think, "Why fight?" But society shaped me into this.

-Isn’t it natural for a woman to be a feminist? Any reasonable man should be one tooㅋㅋ If you’re not a sexist, why would you get mad at the word 'feminist'?

-I agree. I dislike extremism but in the end... I don't want to be discriminated against either.

-I agree... I think I'm more of a humanist. But for humanism to work in this country, feminism has to come first.

-That's true... As you live, you naturally become a feministㅎ

'Squid Game 2’ Director Hwang Donghyuk addresses casting controversy with T.O.P ... “We’ll prove it with results”

Segye Ilbo | Journalist Han Yoon Jong

Squid Game 2 director Hwang Donghyuk has responded to the controversy surrounding the casting of T.O.P (Choi Seunghyun, 37), a former member of Bigbang.

Regarding his decision to cast T.O.P, who previously was sentenced to probation for using marijuana, Director Hwang Donghyuk explained, “When we decided to cast Choi Seunghyun, the incident related to drug use had occurred quite some time ago. He had already received his sentence, and the probation period had ended, so I thought, ‘Isn’t it time for him to be able to start something new?’ and made the decision to cast him.”

He continued, “Many people expressed concern about my decision, and for a second I thought, ‘Maybe I didn’t think about it thoroughly.’ We evaluated him. He showed strong determination and even auditioned in person. He also sent us a video of him acting, and when he got nervous in some parts during the script-reading sessions, we reevaluated him and he showed a lot of effort and talent. He showed a lot of effort and talent. To be honest, I had been interested in him as an actor for a while. I can't tell you in detail, but the role he’s playing requires a lot of courage, and I thought he was the most suitable choice.”

Director Hwang added, “Despite the controversy, we had already gone through many stages together, so undoing the decision wasn’t a choice. The only way to show why we chose Choi Seunghyun is through the final result. So, we decided not to cancel the decision of casting him. I understand some may still not understand why I insisted on this, but I want to clarify the circumstances. I hope when the series is released, viewers will realize it wasn’t an easy decision, and they’ll understand it wasn’t easy for Choi Seunghyun either. Please judge it until you see the final result.”

theqoo

-The whole entertainment industry is rotten.

-I don't want to watch this series.

-I was waiting for this season to be released to see the actor that I like, but seeing this made me not want to watch...

-What does the final result have to do with that person using drugs?

-I thought he said he was gonna retire from the entertainment industry?ㅋㅋㅋ

-Yeah, I'm definitely not gonna watch itㅋㅋㅋ

-I can't believe he thinks it's okay to cast him because that scandal happened a while ago... A drug user is back on TV with no problems, that's the issue. This is going to brainwash people think that it's okay (for criminals to be back on TV). How can a public figure lack such ethics?

-Well, Joo Jihoon still continues working in the industry after his drug scandal too anyway... However, T.O.P has an even worse image because he was caught with liquid marijuana and women. If he turns out to be an amazing actor, people's reactions might change, though... But isn't there more to the Squid Game issue than just T.O.P?ㅠㅠ

-Why should we watch this show?

-I hope it flops.

-The shamelessness of those in this industry is next-level.......

-It's ridiculous and pathetic how he tries so hard to clean up criminals' imagesㅋㅋㅋㅋ

What happens when celebrities send supportive messages for CSAT takers on Bubble

Lee Dongwook: Around this time of the year, I always offer encouraging words even though I don't know how much it helps. I hope you all get the scores you want. It's the first big test in your life, so you must be feeling nervous and anxious. But it's something you have to go through anyway.

Will you win or lose this thing? Let's win it. You can do it.

To all the workers, college students, and business owners. Let's join in on supporting the students.

Do I have to say, 'Can't you imagine how nervous the babies are? Let's support them!' so that you guys will get it...?🤦🏻

I will always support you, obviously. Life is though and hard. I get that. But this is Suneung... It's just once a year... I'm just cheering for the babies...

Ah, right. I heard Suneung is coming up soon. To think that all of the (fandom name) across the country have been preparing day and night for the Suneung, I feel so proud and I think you're all amazing! I hope you get good results that match all the hard work you've put in. I hope everyone does well💛

Of course, I'm also rooting for our (fandom name) who are office workers as well~~!!

I just hope everyone is happy~

I'm rooting for all (fandom name)ㅋㅋ I misspoke~

Geonhee: To all friends who are preparing for Suneung, since it's coming up soon, just relax and take it easy! You've done great and worked hard.

Fan: Could you maybe cheer for the teacher certification exam next week too?ㅠ

Geonhee: Fighting to those who are taking the teacher certification exam too!

Fan: Could you cheer for the fans who are on their way to work too, Geonhee...❤️

Geonhee: To all fans who are on their way to work... You're the ones working the hardest. Fighting for today🙌🏼

(Screencaptures of Jaehyun sending supportive messages for Suneung takers)

Jaehyun, you’re not going to keep cheering all the way until Suneung day, right? I read somewhere that the heart is like a consumable item, it wears down when you use it. And once used, it doesn’t recover easily. So we need to think carefully about where to invest our heart, and use it thoughtfully. I really hope you save it, even if just a little. Don’t give your heart away to just anyone. No, this isn’t jealousy talking, I’m being serious and sincere here. Really, use your heart only when it truly matters, and only for the people who really deserve it. Okay?

Why are they like that?

theqoo

-This is an illness. Get a grip, seriously.

-I told y'all already, we need to get rid of Bubble... Idol fandoms are already mentally exhausting, and now they're adding a system that allows anonymous messages?ㅋㅋㅋㅋ People can say whatever they want since only the idol can see it. They basically turn it into an emotional dumping ground. For idols who can ignore it, maybe it's fine. But for those idols who are quite sensitive, this must be really stressful.

-What are they doing at that age?

-'This isn't jealousy talking' What the f*ck?? Act your age, please.

- How tortured must that last person’s mind be...

-This is an illness. Dumbasses.

-Oh Gosh, seriously... What the f*ck is wrong with the last one?? Why are there so many people throwing tantrums here??

-Go get some f*cking help at a mental hospital, seriouslyㅋㅋㅋ Are they out of their mind?

-Seriously, what’s wrong with them? If you’re mentally unwell, go to the hospital, please.

-This is mental illness.

-I literally sighed when I saw Lee Dongwook's messages today... I even sent an apology message on behalf of those fans.

-This is seriously patheticㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ If you want to get supportive messages that bad, go take Suneung again then.

-What's wrong with the last person...? I'm sorry, but you're the weird one here, mam.

-They're acting like that despite being grown up adultsㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ Oh Gosh, this is so embarrassing...

-Can’t you seriously leave the Suneung students alone?

-It’s amazing how idols don’t get mentally ill from this.

-??? I think the last person should really go to the hospital...

-There are too many insane people in the world... The world has clearly gone insane.

An idol's Bubble messages that become proof that being idol is an extremely exhausting job

*sigh* f*ck

theqoo

-Come on... You're f*cking old enoughㅋㅋㅋㅋ Why can't they let that idol to support the younger fans who are facing the Suneung soon, you selfish people.

-They're old enough to work and yet they still act like that....

-That's my bias...ㅎ When I saw those Bubble messages, I honestly thought the adult fans should be more mature...

-Is this real? Why are they making a fuss over an idol supporting students during Suneung period...?

-Oh Gosh... I mean, they must know how special Suneung is...

-That's my bias... When I saw those Bubble messages, I wonder what kind of replies he got for sending the previous messages...

-Yeah, there are actually people who act like that towards my bias... They whine like, 'Why are you not supporting us too...'ㅠ

-This is very frustrating... If they're already working, they must be old enough to know better...

-They probably got support from idols during their Suneung periods too... Why are they so jealous?

-This is driving me insane....... Why are they acting like that at their age?

-What the f*ck? Seriously... Let's act according to our age.

-No wonder why this looks so familiar. That's my bias. What's f*cking wrong with people?

A professor threatens Dongduk Women's University students by throwing bricks

Don't cause disturbance to the students. Are you a gangster?

Yes, he is a professor. I can't reveal his full name since I might get sued, but it was posted on another online forum that he's a professor.

theqoo

-This could be a reason for him to be dismissed as a professor, no?

-Hul, that's crazy. How can a person like that teach students??? Shouldn't he be isolated from society as well??

-That's a professor...? Has he lost his mind?

-When I was still in college, one of my professors said, "If you wear short skirts, heavy makeup, and sit in the front row, I'll give you an A+ even if you fail the exam." That professor got fired that year.

-Is it right for professors to try to break down doors with bricks because students are protesting...? What's wrong with him...?

-This is crazy. Why is he acting like that? How can someone who acts like that be a professor? That professor’s own brain would probably run away in fear.

-A professor?ㅋㅋㅋ A professor at a women's university at that...? Whoa... This country is really hopeless.

-A professor throws bricks at students???

-This is crazy. He needs to be sued.

-What rages me more is that he only backed off because there was a man who stepped up.

-Why is a professor acting like that? Men are so violent...

-He takes the students' tuition money and then treathen them with bricks.

"You have to give birth and raise kids later" ... Police officer's comment angers Dongduk Women's University students

According to News1 on the 12th, students at Dongduk Women's University, led by the student council, are protesting against the school's transition to a co-ed institution. On the evening of the 11th, Soul's Jongam Police Station was dispatched to Dongduk Women's University after receiving noise complaints.

Upon arriving at the scene, the police found students attempting to break down the university president's office door using baseball bats and fire extinguishers. In the process of police intervention, one officer reportedly said, "You will all become teachers. Later on, you are going to give birth and raise children someday." The remark quickly spread across social media. Students in the video showed their anger, saying, "You go get pregnant yourself!"

A representative from Jongam Police Station explained, "The comment was made to prevent students from doing illegal activities since they were trying to break down the door with fire extinguishers." The officer added, "As people who are going to have children and raise them someday in the future, how can they educate their child if they're acting this way now?"

When asked about the response plan, the police representative stated, “There’s no need for a significant response,” adding, “The wording was simply unfortunate, but I don’t think it warrants an apology.” There are currently no plans for disciplinary action against the officer involved.

theqoo

-That is a sexist remark. This is a sexual harassment.

-Do they think female college students go to school just to raise children? This is the most garbage thing I've heard this year.

-Those students are protesting because their college is terrible and he brought up child education?ㅋ

-What's f*cking wrong with this country, really?

-You call that a clarification?ㅋ

-Has anyone seen men who go to a protest being told, "As someone who's going to enlist to the military..." or "As someone who's going to be a father in the future..."?

-Whoa... They really see women as nothing but baby-making toolsㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ They must've lost it.

-That's definitely a sexist remark. Would they have talked the same way if it were male students?

-A police officer made a sexually harassing comment and is receiving no disciplinary action?ㅋㅋ

-Do they say the same thing to men who protest? They don't. This is exactly why our country is in this f*cking state.

-This is exactly why women's universities exist.

-They consider a sexually harassing remark as 'Simply unfortunate wording'...
