Taeyong will undergo basic military training at the training center on April 10th before fulfilling his military duty in the Navy Band. Taeyong is the first member of NCT to enlist. Eldest member Taeil was delayed from enlisting due to a motorcycle accident in August last year, resulting in a fractured right thigh. His enlistment was postponed for recovery after surgery.
Taeyong underwent an audition for the Navy Band in January, competing with six others for one vocal position. During the audition, Taeyong chose one of three songs as his free choice, opting to sing his original composition. With his exceptional vocal skills, he passed the final interview on the 23rd of last month.
