Acceptance speech at the Oscars that sparks racism controversy

SOURCE: 인종차별 논란일고 있는 오스카 수상소감

'K-Pop Demon Hunters' won the Best Original Song with 'Golden,' and EJAE came up to give the acceptance speech. While another person was in the middle of his speech, the broadcast suddenly cut to commercials.

Of all things, they cut off the acceptance speech of the Asian winners without hesitation, which is f*cking pissing me off.

+) In case you're curious, here's a video of EJAE's acceptance speech (The controversial part has been cut out)

COMMENTS:

-The Oscars always do that, regardless of race.

-I think people are being a bit too sensitive. They do that to everyone, regardless of race. I wonder how many people even know about the Michelle Yeoh-Emma Stone controversy.

-I think that's more like an award discrimination.

-Yeah, they're famous for doing that. That's really rude.

-Rather than racism, they've always been rude to anyone not winning the main awards. At this point, it's a tradition.

-It's not racism, it's an award discrimination. They don't cut off the speeches of the major awards' winners. They only cut off acceptance speeches of the minor awards' winners.

-They're always rude like that, except for the major awards' winners. This doesn't just happen to 'Golden,' it happens every year.

-EJAE's speech wasn't cut off. They cut it right when the next person was about to speak. I feel bad for him.

-I've watched the Oscar a lot and this actually happens a lotㅠㅠ I understand why people are upset, especially since he's Korean.

-They always do that. Even foreigners say the Oscars are really rude for this and apologize on their behalfㅋㅋㅋㅠ

-I feel like the cut it off when the other person started talking because EJAE is the only famous one.

-That's so freaking rude.

-Is there ever a time they aren't being racist?

-Which part of this is being racist?

-Is this your first time watching the Oscars?ㅋㅋ

'K-pop Demon Hunters' EJAE's mother ... Beauty unrivaled even by Lee Youngae

EJAE, the singer and composer of global hit Netflix animated film 'K-pop Demon Hunters,' continues to draw attention. This time, however, the spotlight has shifted to her mother, Shin Hyejin.

Sin Hyejin's visual captured attention.

EJAE is the singer and composer who recently performed the vocals for .the main character of Netflix 'K-pop Demon Hunters.' She is currently gaining global attention as 'Golden' topped the US Billboard HOT 100 chart.

Shin Hyejin is EJAE's mother and also the daughter of veteran Korean actor Shin Youngkyun.

[+135][-5]She looks exactly like her mom.

[+72][-14] So sophisticated and beautiful. Considering there’s quite an age gap with Lee Youngae, that's impressive!!

[+14][-6] Kim Yeonjoo is Im Baekchun's wife. Im Baekchun's wedding was officiated by EJAE's grandfather, Shin Youngkyun. That's why when EJAE came to South Korea recently, she met Im Baekchun and hugged him. Unfortunately, her grandfather, Shin Youngkyun, was associated with the People Power Party and Kim Yeonjoo also once considered to become a spokesperson for that party. Now that EJAE is famous, I hope she keeps quiet and doesn't show any political affiliation.

[+8][-4] That’s enough~~ Let’s just focus on EJAE, okay everyone? ^^,

[+3][-13] Don't tell me her mom voted for #2 too??

'K-pop Demon Hunters' EJAE: "I was a trainee at SM Ent. for 12 years ... I was disappointed in myself"

https://v.daum.net/v/20251022214714197

EJAE started her trainee life at the age of 11. She spent 12 years as a trainee at SM Ent. alongside groups like Super Junior, SNSD, SHINee, and f(x). She recalled, "I really worked hard," and shared that SNSD's Yuri once told her, "You're going to become something. You work so hard, you'll definitely succeed."

However, EJAE ultimately failed to debut. She explained, "I didn't fit SM Ent.'s style. The trend back then was a clean, clear sound. I tried to change my voice to sound clearer, but I wasn't that good at singing at the time. I was too old. I understand. I just missed the timing(to debut)."

After her contract was terminated, EJAE left SM Ent. She confessed, "I was really disappointed in myself." She revealed that it was painful for her to work hard without debuting. She added that she felt most sorry toward her younger self, who spent so much time and effort chasing the dream of becoming a singer.

-12 years... If they weren't going to debut her, they should've let her go sooner for the sake of her future.

-I wonder if it wasn't about her skills, but because of her visuals...? She doesn't have an idol look, she's more like an actress type.

-Even the female SM Rookies didn't debut in the endㅜㅜㅜ

-If she kept failing to make it to the debut lineup, she could've just left. She just chose not to. So many male and female idols went through SM Ent. Why blame it on SM Ent. when she stayed because of her own attachment? Honestly, just looking at her, it's obvious that she's not SM Ent.'s style..

-If she didn't suit the company's style, they should've let her go earlier instead of keeping her as a trainee for so long.

-It's incredibly selfish for SM Ent. to keep her for 12 years without debuting her. If they had let her go quickly, she could've found another company or career path. SM Ent. is so f*cking selfish.

-SM Ent. is a psychopathic company. They kept her for 12 years. She probably couldn't even study properly. She was lucky to make it later, but others just who were part of Rookies or whatever got their faces known and were then just dumped as rookies. That's harmful.

-Whoa... So she trained with SNSD?

-A trainee isn't an employee of the company. Therefore, the company is not responsible for their life. That's their parents' job. If you don't debut, you can still try somewhere else. There are tons of kids who debuted even after leaving big companies. EJAE just realized that idol life wasn't her path, and then found her right one.

-There are countless trainees out there. Not just at SM Ent. She shouldn't be disappointed in herself for working so hard.

-Hul... So she trained through SNSD, f(x), and Red Velvetㅠ

-SM Ent. is really mean... No, all entertainment companies are meanㅠ

-Given that SNSD debuted in 2007 with 91-liner Seohyun and Red Velvet in 2014 with 91-liner Irene, it's unlikely the company kept her for no reason. And I'm sure she didn't stay for no reason either. I think the timing was just unfortunateㅠ They could've at least debut her as solo.

-If there was no potential, they should've let her go earlier so she could join another agency.

-She really doesn't fit the styles of SNSD, f(x), or Red Velvet. Maybe it's because of K-pop Demon Hunters' concept, she kinda gives off Twice's vibesㅋㅋㅋㅋ

-I'm so glad to hear it's doing well. It's even better because it's a movie by a Korean-American director, participated by Korean actors and idols. It's really well-made.

-Look at the graphicsㅋㅋㅋ So cool.

-This movie is doing that well...?ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

-'Red Notice'? Is that a good movie...?

-Seriously?? Is this movie that big?

-Whoa... This is my first time hearing about 'Red Notice.' Is it good?

-Whoa... Look at the graphics. How is that even possible?ㅋㅋㅋㅋ

-I still haven't watched this movie yet.

-I'm surprised that 'Red Notice' is ranking #1. I thought it was mid and kinda old-fashioned.

-I'm planning to watch it next monthㅋ Hope it climbs even higher.

-Are we taking #1 in both movies dan dramas?? What's #1 for dramas?

-Let's go and make South Korea the center of the world.

-How is this even possible? Hul hul...

-Hul... This is unbelievable. Not even an anime movie, and it's #1.

-I've watched it twice alreadyㅋㅋㅋㅋ I'm planning to watch it again!
