Taemin paid staff salaries with his own money ... Was 'broken trust' the reason for ending the contract with Cha Gawon?

It has been revealed that Taemin paid some staff members’ monthly salaries with his own money. Amid this, there are claims that 'breakdown of trust' was the reason behind his split with CEO Cha Gawon.

On the 24th, Big Planet Made shared an official statement saying, "We inform you that our exclusive contract with Taemin has ended. We ask for your continued support and interest in his future activities."

With this, their short 1-year and 10-months journey came to an end. According to the music industry, there was still time remaining on Taemin’s exclusive contract with Big Planet Made. However, it is reported that Taemin strongly requested termination of the contract, and after discussions, both sides agreed to part ways.

Taemin’s side has not disclosed specific reasons for the separation. However, some media reports claim that CEO Cha Gawon failed to settle payments and committed a major mistake in the process of signing contracts with external companies without Taemin's consent. Reports further claim that Taemin used his own money to pay some staff members so he could keep working with them. As a result, many believe that 'breakdown of trust' caused by money issues was the main reason for the split.

CEO Cha Gawon, who leads One Hundred, Big Planet Made Entertainment, and INB100 recently has been suspected of failing to pay tens of billions of KRW to various companies involved in album production for their artists. Coincidentally, after transferring to Big Planet Made in March 2024, Taemin released his 5th mini-album, ETERNAL, that same year. However, last year he only released a special single 'Veil' rather than a physical album. Some have speculated that unpaid production costs may be the reason the album production did not go smoothly.

Additionally, there were reports that CEO Cha Gawon purchased multiple luxury items on credit from a department store and failed to pay for them, resulting to a legal freeze of a villa she owns in Hannam-dong. Regarding this, Cha Gawon's side stated, "The report contains incorrect facts and could hurt the reputation of the company and individuals," but doubts continue to grow as money problems are constantly mentioned.

Meanwhile, Big Planet Made Entertainment is a subsidiary of One Hundred, which CEO Cha Gawon and MC Mong founded in December 2023. Artists under this label include Lee Seunggi, Lee Soogeun, Lee Mujin, Ha Sungwoon, NU'EST's Ren, and VIVIZ's Eunha, SinB, and Umji.

Taemin reveals his reason for not attending SMTOWN Cocnert ... "Sorry for not being able to show SHINee's performance as a full group ... Discussions between companies ongoing"


SHINee's Taemin, who recently left SM Entertainment and joined Big Planet Made Entertainment, shared the reason behind his absence from SM Entertainment's 30th-anniversary concert.

On the 13th, Taemin shared on the fan communication platform Bubble, "I wanted to carefully share this in case there are fans who are worried about SHINee. I'm sorry I couldn't show up as a part of SHINee at SMTOWN Concert. I wanted to wrap up the discussions with the company quickly so I could show you SHINee again, but it's taking some time."

He continued, "The discussions are going just fine and everything will be settled soon. I, along with the other members, want to protect SHINee and we still want to write more stories together. I hope those who are worried about whether I don't want to continue to be with SHINee again or if they can see SHINee in the future will stop worrying. Okay?"

Taemin then explained his absence from SMTOWN Concert, saying, "I hope that my words don't hurt anyone. Once again, all the members love SHINee and have the same feelings. We are currently carefully preparing and getting ready to start SHINee well, let's meet soon with a smile!'"

Previously on January 11th and 12th, 'SMTOWN LIVE 2025 [THE CULTURE, THE FUTURE]' was held at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul. This concert was held to commemorate the 30th anniversary of SM Entertainment, and various artists performed. Among them, only Key and Minho from SHINee appeared on stage. Meanwhile, Onew participated in other SM's 30th-anniversary related content.

Although the specific reason for the absence of the members who transferred to a different agency is not known, various speculations have arisen. In response to these speculations, Taemin explained that he was unable to attend the SM 30th anniversary concert due to issues related to the company.

The solo concept that SM Ent. originally wanted


Seohyun, describing Don't Say No, explained that it's a song sung 'shamelessly.' Originally, a different track was supposed to be the title of her album, but she personally persuaded Lee Sooman to make Don't Say No the title track.

SM Ent. initially opposed the mature and sexy concept of Seohyun’s album.

"They suggested a girlish concept, like releasing an album where I play the guitar. I appreciated the idea, especially since I’m already in my mid-20s. Haha. But there are a lot of younger artists who do that concept, and I’ve also done it many times myself. I wanted to show a different side of myself and share something new within me."

It Has Been Reported That Baekhyun Had an Influence on Taemin's Decision to Not Renew His Contract with SM Ent.

Taemin, who debuted as the youngest member of SHINee in 2008, has been with SM for 16 years, signing multiple contract renewals. It's anticipated that he will move to Big Planet after his exclusive contract with SM expires at the end of this month. However, he plans to continue group activities with SHINee under SM.

It's been reported that Baekhyun, a former EXO member who left SM, had advised and influenced Taemin's decision to move. A source stated, "Taemin decided to move to Big Planet under the influence of his close friend Baekhyun."

Baekhyun left SM this year and co-founded the agency INB100 with fellow EXO members Chen and Xiumin. During this process, he also sought advice from his close friend and senior in the music industry, MC Mong. Big Planet is a company where MC Mong was previously known to hold a position as an executive.

Kang Jung-hyun, including An Sung-hyun, the husband of Sung Yuri, and other figures implicated in the suspicion of actual ownership of Bithumb, have been indicted on charges of embezzlement mediation. MC Mong has been identified as a key witness to uncover the circumstances surrounding the transfer of 5 billion KRW between An Sung-hyun and Kang Jung-hyun. The prosecution alleges that in January 2022, An Sung-hyun received 20 billion KRW in cash under the pretext of a security deposit in exchange for acquiring a 5% stake in Big Planet Made Entertainment, an entertainment planning agency where MC Mong served as an internal director, to facilitate a 20 billion KRW investment from Kang Jung-hyun.

Big Planet is a company embroiled in controversies surrounding investments and cryptocurrencies. Although Big Planet denied last year that MC Mong was not an internal director, the prosecution has identified him as one and is currently summoning him. MC Mong failed to appear three times, resulting in a fine of 6 million won.

A: I really want to experience dorm life with my members again. At that time, we lived together and there were so many differences between us. I often thought that I needed my own space.
