The reason why 'Lovely Runner' took 3 years to be produced

"Lovely Runner" wasn't initially anticipated in the K-content market. It took a solid three years to be produced. Many male actors turned down offers to appear in this drama, thinking it was the typical story of a K-pop fan having a crush on an idol. The drama gained momentum when Byun Wooseok accepted the role of the male lead, overcoming casting difficulties. To properly portray the role of the singer Sunjae, Byun Wooseok even sang the songs himself. The song "Downpour," sung by him as the vocalist of the band ECLIPSE in the drama, made its way to the Melon Top 100 (as of the 2nd), an achievement that even famous singers find challenging. In the drama, Sunjae expresses, "I wrote this song because I wanted to kept my first love, Sol, in my heart."

The writer wrote the script while thinking of Kim Hyeyoon, insisting that the female lead had to be played by Kim Hyeyoon.
As for the male lead, numerous actors rejected the offer to play the role of Sunjae until Byun Wooseok accepted. Byun Wooseok was cast by the director after watching '20th Century Girl.'

-He probably just accepted the offer after reading the script since he's known for liking romantic comedies. It's lucky he likes rom-coms.

-If it weren't for them, the drama might not have been produced๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›

-Byun Wooseok really suits the role of Sunjae, and the chemistry between Sol and Sunjae is so good that the drama became a hit... I'm so glad they accepted the offer to star in this drama. The casting was really good.

-Byun Wooseok, thank you for accepting the offer...

-Honestly, if I were an actor, I might have declined when I saw the title and the script because it sounded too childish. Looking at the post, there were some actors who thought the same way. Maybe the script they received were unfinished, or maybe they just read it roughly. Only after the drama was released, everything, including the script, direction, and acting, fell into place perfectly...

-Byun Wooseok didn't know how to swim at first. He learned how to swim and even took vocal lessons for this drama.

-They're both in their thirties, but they fit the high school roles so well.

-I wonder who the male actors were who rejected it? They must be regretting it nowใ…‹ใ…‹ใ…‹ใ…‹

-It wouldn't have worked if it weren't for both of them. They're a perfect match.

-It's amazing how well Byun Wooseok fits Sunjae's role. He really found the right role for himself, and I didn't expect him to have such great chemistry with Kim Hyeyoon.

-Wow, it's destiny.

-I wouldn't have watched it if it weren't for the combination of Byun Wooseok and Kim Hyeyoon. I thought he was a real idol at first.

-I can't imagine anyone other than Byun Wooseok being Ryu Sunjae.

-My Monday blues are gone because of themใ… ใ…

-They're both perfect for this drama. Thanks so much... ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’™

-Sunjae's character came alive after meeting Wooseok, and Wooseok is shining after meeting the best character in his entire lifeใ…‹ใ…‹ใ…‹ใ…‹

-I discovered Wooseok through this drama, and now I spend all day looking him up.

-The role was destined for Byun Wooseok, really....
