"Add Zico (to the recipient list) as well" ... HYBE Chairman Bang Sihyuk directly orders the 'Idol Report' to be shared to Zico

 

Amid the growing backlash over HYBE’s reports which became controversial because it contains highly critical evaluations of other idols' appearances, it was revealed on the 30th that HYBE Chairman Bang Sihyuk had directly instructed senior executives to distribute this document. The dismissal of former head of Weverse Magazine, Kang Myungseok, who was reportedly involved in the creation of the reports, raises possibility regarding Chairman Bang's responsibility in the matter.

According to an email obtained by Hankyoreh dated 6 January 2022, Bang Sihyuk replied to a "Weekly Music Industry Report III" shared by Kang Myungseok, requesting, “Please add Zico to the document distribution list.” The recipients of the email included Kim Jooyoung, who was then Chief Human Resources Officer and now CEO of HYBE subsidiary ADOR.

Rapper Zico, who is also a former member of Block B, was added as a recipient because KOZ Ent., the agency he founded in 2018, was acquired by HYBE in November 2020. Since Zico is now the representative of HYBE's sub-label, he became a part of the report's recipient list. This report is published every week and sent to HYBE's C-level executives and label heads. A source suggested, "Zico wasn’t initially included after the acquisition, perhaps due to concerns about his reaction as an artist himself."

On 28 June 2023, Bang Sihyuk sent an email to Kang Myunseok, saying "Please add ㅇㅇ (to the report's distribution list)", to which Kang Myungseok responded, "Yes, he has been added."

As it is revealed that Bang Sihyuk was directly involved in overseeing the report's contents and managed the recipients, he may face further responsibility. HYBE has already let go of Kang Myungseok from his position on the 29th. HYBE's CEO, Lee Jaesang, publicly apologized, saying "The document was compiled to gather various responses and public opinions on industry trends and issues. While it was shared only with a limited number of leadership members for the purpose of understanding the public opinion of the market and among fans, the content of the document was highly inappropriate. On behalf of the company, I acknowledge the wrongdoing and feel responsible for the report that contained provocative expressions towards K-pop artists, the subjective views and personal judgment of the document's author, and the fact that such content was documented."

HYBE has since stated that they have no additional comments beyond CEO Jaesang Lee’s public apology regarding the emails exchanged between Bang Sihyuk and Kang Myungseok.

Zico appeared on the MBC 'Radio Star' with Jung Joon-young on 27 January 2016. 

At the time, Zico mentioned, "Jung Joonyoung has a 'golden phone.' It's not a phone that he actually uses, but a phone used only for Kakao Talk during emergencies," adding, "Many people's contacts are saved on it like a 'Pokémon Pokédex'." 

Then, Zico asked Jung Joonyoung, "You don't have that anymore, right?" To which Jung Joonyoung replied, "I do. Although there was no precise explanation as to why Zico referred to Jung Joon-young's 'KakaoTalk-only phone' as the 'golden phone,' it was depicted on the broadcast as a 'golden contact directory' containing contacts of Jung Joon-young's acquaintances.

Zico has mentioned Jung Joonyoung's golden phone on a TV Show before. Now, as BBC recently released a documentary about Burning Sun, Zico is being mentioned again.

Something That Zico Knows But Min Heejin Doesn't

Min Heejin, the CEO of Adoer who refers to herself as the "mother" of the group New Jeans, seems to lack an understanding of capitalist principles. While claiming, "I gave birth to New Jeans," she expressed the feeling of childbirth as if she had experienced labor pains, but this overlooks the capitalist perspective and invites criticism of "excessive self-consciousness."

It's an undeniable fact that bringing a life into the world requires significant effort and role-playing from a mother. However, it's impossible for a mother alone to give birth to a child. Both a father and a mother are necessary for the birth of a life.

If we accept Min Heejin's claim that she is the "mother" of New Jeans, then "New Jeans' father" is HYBE. HYBE invested 1.61 billion won to establish ADOR and paid a significant price to send New Jeans members, who were trainees under Source Music, to ADOR. Additionally, HYBE mobilized various capital and systems to support New Jeans' debut.

New Jeans is a group born from the wealth of its "father" and the planning ability of its "mother." If these two conditions had not been met, today's New Jeans would undoubtedly not exist. Even if we admit Min Heejin birthed New Jeans, it was only possible because HYBE provided the money and support. In other words, she created something with other people's money. Before claiming her achievements, Min Heejin should recognize and respect HYBE's financial strength and support. If she wanted to claim full ownership of New Jeans, she should have started by establishing her own company based on her own capital and launched it with her own money.

What's troubling about this situation is Min Heejin's strong desire to claim ownership over New Jeans. She acts as if the entire success of New Jeans is solely because of her efforts. While it's natural for her to care deeply about New Jeans and want to support it, her behavior is just too much. Even though Min Heejin might be really good at planning and has a great intuition, if she insists that she's the only reason for New Jeans' success, who would want to work with her? This recent drama within HYBE might have something to do with Min Heejin's attitude.

Zico, the leader of KOZ Entertainment, a subsidiary label under HYBE, who is also a singer and producer, drew attention when asked about the difference between being under HYBE and being with a smaller agency he previously worked with. He said, "The difference lies in financial power. (Smaller agencies) have limited resources and opportunities," adding, "I started out not with a smaller agency, but almost from scratch." His acknowledgment of HYBE's financial strength and established system was noteworthy. Although Zico's mention of his experience transitioning from a smaller agency during Block B's debut to eventually setting up his own agency under the umbrella of a large corporation like HYBE was brief, it provided insight into the differences.

As an idol, producer, and leader of a label, Zico, having experienced various environments, acknowledged and appreciated HYBE's solid financial resources and robust system. However, Min Heejin, on the other hand, solely boasts about her own skills and directs intense criticism towards HYBE. While Zico expresses gratitude, Min Heejin remains unaware.

Blackpink Jennie Show Supports for Zico's 10th Debut Anniversary Comeback ... 'Finished Recording the Song and Filming the MV'

 

According to TenAsia report on the 4th, Jennie will be featuring in Zico's new song that will be released later this month to celebrate his 10th debut anniversary and also to appear in the music video. Jennie didn't think twice about accepting Zico's offer, given their close friendship, and not only features in the song but also participates in the music video. 

Zico is making a comeback with a new single at the end of this month, marking approximately 21 months since the release of his EP album 'Grown Ass Kid' in July 2022. This comeback holds special significance for Zico as he's celebrating his 10th debut anniversary as a solo singer this year. Additionally, Zico will also take on the role of an MC for the first time on a music program. Zico is taking over Lee Hyori's KBS 2TV's 'The Seasons' which is scheduled to start filming on the 23rd and air on the 26th.

The best side-tracks that were released in 2016

Since there are too much nice title songs that were released in 2016, so I'm just going to list the side-tracks that surprisingly have good qualities here.

It's not in order of anything and there are only 3 songs in this post.

1. It Was Love - Zico (ft. Luna)

This song is really well-known and the quality is really good until the point people are questioning whether if this is really not the title song, the title song was I am You, You are Me, I think.

I was really shocked when I first heard this song, Zico has found something that suits him really well.

I love how Luna sings the song, the overall aura of this song is really really nice. 

It makes me wonder if she's really having a one sided love when she sings this song.

2. To The Beautiful You - Wonder Girls

This song was released first before they released Why So Lonely, that was produced by Sunmy, Hyerim, and Yoobin. As Sunmi wrote the lyrics, she noticed how similar the lyrics are with the words their fans usually say to them. The lyrics are beautiful, it has the summer vibes in it, something that's really refreshing to hear. The song is so good, it makes me can't believe they really produced the song by themselves. I personally think this song would've hit big if they had made it as their title songs.

3. Sing Me - Day6

Everyone knows that Day6 can be trusted when it comes to their music, and since their previous album was really good, everyone looked forward to this album and Day6 didn't disappoint us. I personally think they have a special vibes to them that makes the listeners never get tired of their songs. My favorite part of the song is the hook when the lyrics go like 'Sing Me..~'. I strongly recommend this song.

Now that I noticed it, all of these songs are written and produced by their own selves.

There are a lot of idols who self-produce their songs these days, and I often look up to their self-produced songs too, but these three songs are the most shocking ones to me.

Since they self-produced the songs on their owns, the songs sound really nice and special.

It would be really nice if you take some time to listen to these listed songs.

CNBlue's Jonghyun and Block B's Zico's reactions to Black Pink's stage became the hot topic of the town.

The look on Jonghyun's face changed as soon ad Black Pink performed on stage. When Jennie's face was on the big screen, Jonghyun was seen mouthing "She's so pretty.. Pretty" to Zico who sat next to him and Zico replied back "She's pretty" as an answer. They were also seen enjoying the song by nodding their heads according to the song's rhythm.

He used to get a lot of hate for his looks during this era

But now, he has become someone who's inhumanly handsome after taking off his glasses + growing out his hair and fringesㅠㅠㅠㅠ He has been going through a lot with that weird hair + glasses, from his debut until Lonely era to be exact. Just look at him from April 2011 to 2013..

VIXX's Hongbin

His hair overshadowed his beautiful face. He even got a nickname because of this hair, it was 'The uprising of a peasant'.. Fans were trying really hard to be positive during that era by thinking saying 'Since he originally has a really handsome face, his hair doesn't really affect his looks!'

But

He looks really handsome in the first picture, but you'll get to realize how inhumanly-handsome he actually is by seeing the second picture.. Why did his company tell him to grow out his hair! 

Block B's Zico

It's really that Zico you guys usually see on TV..

Anyway, what's wrong with his eyebrows..

I personally think he looks really cool in this picture.. The whole 'Freeze' era was... umm.. umm..

The next era, Tell Them, was really cute and fresh, I'm actually fine with it because Zico finally got to let go of that pinneaple hair..
