On May 5, IU's agency, EDAM Entertainment, announced, "IU donated a total of 150 M KRW under the name of IUAENA (IU + UAENA) in celebration of Children's Day." 62 M KRW was donated to 'Eden I-Ville,' while 90 M KRW was donated to 'Hansarang Village' and 'Hansarang Care Center for Disabled Infants.' The donation for Eden I-Ville will be used to create spaces for youth preparing for independence, as well as Children's Day gifts and events. The donations to Hansarang Village and Hansarang Care Center for Disabled Infants will be used to improve the living conditions of children with disabilities, such as replacing old boilers, providing medical and rehabilitation treatment, and supplying Children's Day gifts.
Since her debut in 2009, IU has been consistently making donations to this day. She is also known for donating under the name of IUAENA every year on special occasions such as her debut anniversary, birthday, and New Year. In 2019, IU was the youngest person to be named as Forbes Asia's 30 Heroes of Philanthropy. This March, she also donated 200 M KRW to support victims of a large wildfire in the Gyeongsang region and to help improve the treatment of firefighters.
