Jo Byunggyu loses 4 billion KRW lawsuit against school bullying accuser ... Court: "Difficult to prove the claims are false"

Jo Byunggyu has lost the first trial in a multi-billion KRW damages lawsuit he filed against the person who accused him of school bullying.

According to legal sources on the 1st, the Seoul Central District Court’s Civil Division 37 ruled against Jo Byunggyu and his former agency, HB Ent., in the lawsuit seeking about 4 billion KRW in damages from the accuser, identified as A. The court denied all claims made by Jo Byunggyu's side and ordered them to pay all legal costs.

Jo Byunggyu's side had argued, "A damaged our reputation by posting false claims." They continued, "Because of this, we suffered 4 billion KRW in losses due to canceled endorsement contracts and lost roles in dramas, movies, and variety shows." They also demanded compensation, including 200 million KRW for emotional damages.

However, the court stated, "Based on the evidence submitted, it is difficult to conclude that the post contained false information." The court added, "There is nothing in the conversation records between A and acquaintances that acknowledge the claims were fabricated. It appears that A deleted the post not because the content was false, but out of fear of being sued or facing a massive lawsuit for damages."

The court added, "It's also possible that A deleted the post knowing that even sharing truthful facts can lead to punishment for defamation in South Korea."

Furthermore, the court also dismissed the written statements from about 20 of Jo Byungyu's acquaintances that were submitted as evidence, saying "They are all Jo Byunggyu's acquaintances in South Korea, making it difficult to verify the facts of an incident that allegedly happened in New Zealand." The court judged that it is hard to prove the claims were false based only on the statements of people who are acquainted with Jo Byunggyu.

The court concluded, “The material submitted by Jo Byunggyu makes it difficult to prove that the allegations in A's post were entirely unfounded," and dismissed Jo Byunggyu's claim.

Jo Byunggyu's side has appealed the first trial's ruling. Separately, the criminal defamation case filed by Jo Byunggyu against A was also dismissed by the prosecution.

[+212][-7] He lost the lawsuitㅋㅋㅋㅋ

[+143][-6] What is this? Why is he doing this again?

[+27][-1] If he lost, then the school bullying claims must be true.

[+22][-1] The fact that he tried to silence the victim with money is so infuriating. So shameless.

Over 110,000 people gather in Hongdae, Itaewon station closed ... Halloween crowds return after 3 years

On the night of the 31st, Seoul’s major nightlife districts were packed with young people celebrating Halloween and Friday night.

In Hongdae, over 100,000 people gathered, leading to serious concerns about overcrowding. In Itaewon, the main alley, where the 2022 tragedy occurred, was completely closed off and subways skipped the station without stopping. There were several dangerous situations in various spots, but fortunately no major accidents occurred because of the police's strict crowd control.

According to Yonhap News, approximately 110,000 people were counted in the Hongdae tourist area between 9 PM and 11 PM. This means the crowd levels have returned to what they were before the Itaewon tragedy in 2022. Large LED screens on the streets displayed a red warning message that says 'Extremely crowded.'

Fortunately, the crowding eased as rain fell late at night, and the crowd eventually decreased to 88,000 people around midnight. An official from the Mapo-gu office said, "We expected a maximum of 100,000 people, but even more showed up."

The Hongdae club street and surrounding alleys were so full of young people, there was no room to place one's feet. Although police set up fences and encouraged one-way walking, people in costumes kept stopping in many places to take photos, causing the people behind them to surge forward repeatedly.

Safety officers repeatedly shouted, "Please keep walking, don't stop" Narrow alleys experienced bottlenecks and long lines to enter the clubs stretched long on both sides of the sidewalk, making the walking paths even narrower.

The situation in Itaewon was similar. Messages like 'Extremely crowded, please detour' were shown on electronic signs there as well. On the Global Food Street, people's shoulders constantly bumped into each other, and it took 10 minutes to walk just 300 meters.

At the alley behind the Hamilton Hotel, where the Itaewon tragedy in 2022 happened, the crowd built up, and entry was blocked starting around 10:20 PM. By 10:30 PM, the crowd was estimated at about 11,000 people. From 11:00 PM, Subway Line 6 skipped Itaewon Station in both directions. A police officer on site explained, "The station was closed because the crowd was too large and there was risk of accidents."

However, no major accidents occurred until 1 AM. In Itaewon, about 455 security personnel, including 250 police officers, were deployed and actively guided people to walk on the right side. Oh Hyuncheol (48), a delivery rider who works primarily in Itaewon, said, "During the tragedy, there were no police. It was a total chaos. But tonight, veryone was guided to the right, so it feels safer." One person reported ankle pain near Itaewon Station but was treated on-site by emergency staff.

The crowds continued to decrease starting around 11:30 PM as the night rain began. In Hongdae, the line to enter the subway station stretched over 50 meters. Some young people, who appeared to be drunk, were instead excited, shouting, "We don't want to go home!" as the night came to an end.

[+1,246][-97] They're at it again.

[+1,003][-156] Completely hopeless idiots with loose screws in their heads... Honestly, I think they deserve to die.

[+969][-187] They aren't afraid because if an accident happens, people will treat with like some kind of an independence movementㅎㅎ

[+87][-9] Sigh… and if an accident happens, they'll just demand the country take responsibility.

[+72][-9] Look how quickly they swarmed there like animals in heat right after the last accident! If something happens again, I won’t pity the ones who die, but I’ll feel sorry for their parents.

[+71][-8] It’s insane… If another accident happens, they’ll just throw tantrums and blame the government again. The first accident was tragic, and I mourned, but if people still go despite knowing the risk and an accident happens, all I can do is curse.

In the video, Yoo Inna said, "Hwasa's comeback created such a buzz. I saw many articles saying that your body shape changed and that you've lost even more weight." Hwasa replied, "Everyone around me worries every time they see me, but I'm actually very healthy right now. I really want to tell everyone not to worry about me."

Yoo Inna added, "Your complexion looks great, and being next to you, I can feel that your energy feels so healthy. Did you lose a lot of weight?" Hwasa replied, "I think I lost about 5kg. Body fat is what's really bad for your health, isn't it? I think I lost a lot of body fat. I've been working out hard lately, and because I lost a lot of body fat, I look even thinner."

When asked if she wanted to keep her current weight after her promotions end, she said, "First, I'll keep it until November, and then I'll see what kind of body I want next." When asked what food she’s craving most, she answered, "I really want to eat pizza. I don't usually like flour-based food, but I want to fold a pizza in three layers and just gobble it down."

Hwasa also shared her diet, saying, "I ate pumpkin sweet potatoes (호밤고구마) instead of rice, along with eggs and chicken breast. I cooked the eggs with a steamer and ate them like baked eggs.” Hearing this, Yoo Inna commented, "You seem to know how to make anything taste delicious," and Hwasa replied, "You have to be happy when you eat."

G-Dragon sings 'POWER' in a traditional hat ... World leaders pull out their phones to take pictures

At the 2025 APEC Summit Welcome Dinner held in Gyeongju on the 31st, several world leaders including Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, immediately pulled out their phones when G-Dragon began to perform. President Lee Jaemyung watched G-Dragon's stage while speaking with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

The official diner was attended by over 400 key figures, including President Lee and his wife, leaders and spouses from 21 APEC member and guest nations, representatives from international organizations, top global CEOs, and more. The event was hosted by Cha Eunwoo, who is currently serving in the military.

Among the performances prepared, G-Dragon's stage seemed to have captivated the world leaders. G-Dragon appeared wearing a hat that looked like the traditional Korean headwear 'Gat' and introduced himself to the audience, saying, "I'm singer G-Dragon, APEC 2025 Korea Ambassador." He then performed 'POWER,' which was released last October.

During his performance, Prime Minister Carney, along with Chilean Foreign Minister Alberto van Klaveren, and Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul's wife, Tinanont Niramit, were spotted filming the performance. President Xi Jinping was also captured listening to Presiden Lee Jaemyung explain something while watching G-Dragon's stage.

Later, President Xi Jinping smiled as he was handed a paper butterfly during the children's choir performance. The choir members came down from the stage during their performance to hand the paper butterflies to the guests seated in the front rows. This was reportedly meant to represent the cultural performance's theme: 'Journey of Butterfly: Together, We Fly.'

Other performances included appearances by choreographers Leejung and Honey J, known for their work in the Netflix animation 'K-Pop Demon Hunters,' and violinist Kim Yuna.

The menu at the dinner was developed by Chef Edward Lee, which blended Korean and Western cuisine.Korean dishes such as namul bibimbap and galbijjim using ingredients from Gyeongju were served, along with Western dishes like pies and caramel desserts.

Kyunghyang News

[+73][-2] I support Korea becoming a leader among international communities. Today’s community is one where we move forward together, not one of enemies and allies.

[+73][-7] They picked the perfect ambassador. Lee Jaemyung is definitely sharp.

[+68][-6] This is how cool South Korea actually is... It was not the corrupt, backward nation that the former 'Pants' and 'Bribery Monster' ruined for the past 3 years!

[+67][-9] GD’s got real talent and amazing stage presence… he’s just so cool.

[+58][-4] Did you get a good taste of K-Culture? Now, please lift the Hallyu ban.

[+51][-3] Truly the best!

[+44][-2] So proud~ GD ♥︎

Hearts2Hearts Jiwoo says she has never once contacted her older brother

Seulgi: How is your relationship with your older brother?

Jiwoo: We are not close!

Jiwoo: I've never contacted my brother separately, not even once. We are just not close.

Seulgi: Really?

'We only know that each other is alive, that’s all'

Jiwoo: It's not like we fight or have a bad relationship. I just simply never contacted him.

Me too, Jiwoo-yaㅋㅋㅋ

Male siblings naturally drift apart once they become adults.

theqoo

-Exactlyㅋㅋㅋ It's not like I'm on bad terms with my brother, we're just... Awkward? Distant? with each otherㅋㅋㅋ I always say that even fighting or having bad terms means there's some kind of closenessㅋㅋㅋㅋ

-That can happen. We live in the same house, but we're not close...? He's just like a person I share living space with.

-Me too, but with my younger brotherㅋㅋㅋ I haven't seen or talked to him in years. Since I haven't heard that he died, he must be alive then.

-Honestly, there's just no reason to contact him. I only message him when necessary, and his replies are just 'ok' or 'yeah'ㅋㅋㅋ

-I love how honest Jiwoo is.

-I'm close with my brother, but we don't contact each other... We're still friendly when we meet occasionally because our parents call us, though.

-I don't contact my brother as well. I'm not even interested in him.

-Same here. We're not on bad terms. When we meet, we get along just fine, but I've literally never contacted him personally in my life.

-I only text him when I need the Netflix password.

-This is hilariousㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ My family is just like that to. We just check if everyone's still aliveㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

-Me too. It's not that we have a bad relationship, we just don't have anything to talk about.

-Me too. When we meet, we talk just fine. I just never really felt the need to contact him.

-Me too. It's kinda hard to explain, though... It's like we're just strangers who happen to be relatedㅋㅋㅋ My mom tells me how he's doing anyway.

-And when something big happens at home, we end up leaning on each other anyway. Even if we’re not close, family’s still family.

TWICE's Momo buys 4.3 billion KRW villa in cash ... Neighbors with Nana and Han Sohee

Momo has reportedly purchased a luxury home in Achiul Village, Guri, Gyeonggi Province this month for 4.3 billion KRW paid entirely in cash. The area is known for its cluster of multi-billion KRW luxury homes. The specific villa that Momo bought is the same area where Han Sohee and Nana had previously purchased units in.

According to court registry documents on the 31st, Momo, who is a Japanese national, signed a contract on the 23rd to buy a 221㎡ unit in the luxury villa 'Arcadia Signature' in Acheon-dong, Guri, for 4.27 billion KRW. The payment was completed on the same day and the registration of ownership was finalized with no mortgage records, indicating that she paid the entire amount in cash.

Arcadia Signature is one of the most exclusive properties in Achiul Village. It is a luxurious, villa-style residential complex built in May 2023. It consists of 2 under ground floors and 4 above-ground floors. It only has 8 units in total, 6 standard units and 2 penthouses.

The unit that Momo purchased, the 'Natural Terrace,' includes 3 bedrooms, 1 study, 3 bathrooms, and a private garden. Residents can enjoy views of both the Han River and Achasan Mountain from inside their homes. The villa also has a fitness room and private lounge area for residents.

Arcadia Signature is praised for its excellent location, because it is only a 15-20 minute drive to areas like Gangnam, Gangdong, Gwangjin, and Songpa in Seoul. It also has convenient access to large hospitals, department stores, and Han River parks. Furthermore, it is highly preferred by celebrities who want privacy because it is the first property in Achiul Village that has its own private entrance, allowing residents to enter and exit discreetly, with 24-hour security system.

Han Sohee also purchased a 203㎡ duplex penthouse in Arcadia Signature for 5.24 billion KRW in August last year. At the time, she took out a 1 billion KRW loan from a commercial bank to buy the unit. Nana also bought a 221㎡ unit in March for for 4.2 billion KRW, taking out a loan of about 2.7 billion KRW. Additionally, Choo Jahyun signed a two-year lease for a 222㎡ unit in late November last year with a security deposit of 3.5 billion KRW.

Achiul Village, where Arcadia Signature is located, is often called 'Artists' Village' as it has been home to novelist Park Wanseo, painter Lee Sungja, and printmaker Choi Jisook. After the greenbelt was lifted in 2006, luxury homes and villas began developing in the area. It is highly favored by many celebrities because it offers quiet, rural living while being close to Seoul. Notably, Hyun Bin bought a penthouse unit nearby for 4.8 billion KRW in 2020, where he started his newly wed life with Son Yejin. Other celebrities reported to live in Achiul Village include actress Oh Yeonseo, singer Park Jinyoung, and the couple Hyuna and Yong Junhyung.

[+347][-55] Other singers must be having a reality checkㅋㅋㅋ She can't even sing well, but she manages to earn money in another country.

[+274][-9] Han Sohee must've earned a huge amount of money too.

[+250][-6] The entertainment industry really is all about one lucky break in life.

[+24][-3] Change the law so can foreigners can't just buy property unless they actually live here. If they don't live in the house they bought, they should be required to pay 10% of the property tax every year.

[+16][-2] I can't even earn 200 million KRW a year even though I work for over 12 hours and only get 2 days off a month... This really makes me have a reality check.

[+15][-0] It seems like the three of them must be close friends, considering they all live in a villa complex with only eight households.

[+10][-1] Apparently, Han Sohee came to Seoul from Ulsan right after her senior year break, only with 300,000 KRW and a dream to become model. She knew no one in the city. She worked part-time and got cast by Musinsa. Her guts are amazing. She probably would've succeeded no matter what.

Famous variety show PD accused of sexual assault ... "Inappropriate physical contact after company dinner"

A famous PD, known as Mr. A, who has directed several popular variety shows, has been accused of sexual assault.

According to Korea Economic Daily report on the 31st, a production staff member, Ms. B, who was working with Mr. A on a new season of a show, filed a criminal complaint against him for sexual assault at the Mapo Police Station in Seoul last August.

Ms. B claimed that during a company dinner, she experienced unwanted physical contact from Mr. A. After she rejected the contact, Mr. A made deeply insulting comments to her and told her she was being removed from the show.

Ms. B's lawyer, Lee Eun-ui, stated, "The victim suffered psychological trauma and damage to her career. Initially, she wanted the company to solve the problem internally. However, the company's response were insufficient, leading her to file a lawsuit."

The company conducted its own investigation and reportedly informed Ms. B that they only acknowledged part of the sexual assault allegations, but denied claims of workplace harassment. However, Mr. A denies all the accusations. It is reporter that both sides disagreed with the company's investigation results and have filed appeals against it.

An idol receives over a thousand hate comments on a male-dominated forum for saying 'Don't date ugly men'

I asked Jiwoo to list three types of men women shouldn't date and she said not to date 'ugly men'

A female idol who said not to date ugly men (1710 comments)

Hearts2Hearts' Jiwoo told a fan to not date ugly men... And now the Korean men on FMKorea are going wild like cockroaches hit by poison after being struck by a fact^^

Like Ian, Hearts2Hearts members are becoming very likable these days. I'm rooting for them.

-They must have gotten offended because they're ugly.

-Why are they so mad??????

-Didn't she just state something obvious, like 1+1=2??

-If you weren’t ugly, there’d be nothing to get offended about 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

-Why are they getting mad? It seems like they're admitting they are ugly, right?

-I mean... It's simple. Just don't be uglyㅜ

-So… Are you saying we should date ugly men now?

-'Cockroaches hit by poison'ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ Why are you so offended, ugly men?

-These things are not only ugly, but also have disgusting personalities too...

-Who would want to date someone ugly?... She just stated something so obvious, though?ㅋㅋㅋ ㅠㅠ

-Jiwoo is so smart 💗

-Do they not like pretty women themselves? This is seriously ridiculousㅋㅋㅋ

-Just be handsome, then?ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

-Which salty Hannam got offended by this? Let me see your fce.

-She didn't say anything wrong.

KATSEYE faces backlash overseas for sexualizing a minor

Yoonchae, the Korean member, was born in 2007.

Their new Halloween video is also being criticized as inappropriate for a minor

Yoonchae vestida de Mariah Carey no clipe de "All I Want for Christmas Is You" para o Halloween. pic.twitter.com/lTdUTI5ULB

This video is under fire because not only the minor member Yoonchae, but nearly half of KATSEYE members are under 20, and yet their choreography and outfits are overly sexual.

Their international ages

-Hul, I thought they were all adults. Is HYBE crazy?

-Isn't Yoonchae still in high school...?

-Their outfits were really short… at least Yoonchae’s seemed a bit more covered than the others. Maybe it's because the U.S. is their main market?

-It's HYBE. I'm not even surprised.

-Aren't foreign countries actually more sensitive about things like this than South Korea?

-The outfits were always revealing, but I thought international fans didn't care.. I guess this issue is just breaking late.

-It was a bit much from the beginning... But everyone seemed to like it and kept calling them 'hot girls,' which honestly, I found strange. Apparently, exposing your skin makes you a hot girl.

-I knew this would come up someday...

-Wasn't this the group that had moaning sounds in their song too?

-If you look at Yoonchae's personal fashion taste, you'll notice that she doesn't seem like the type to prefer revealing clothes. That's why this bothers me even more.

-Wait, there's another underage member?? I heard people saying that Yoonchae's covered up a bit more than the other members because she's underage... Does the other underage member not need covering? Even if they're a global group, can't they wait until they're all adults to do such concepts?

-Their ages are even more shocking to me. The other members besides Yoonchae are young too.

-Hul, even just watching that video, half of their butts are showing.

-If there are minors in the group, be more careful with the concept. What is that?

She continued, "Charmeeze is a brand I genuinely ran for over two years, putting in 10 years of my experience and taste in fashion. As I communicate through the language of clothing and showcasing various styles, I know how precious and meaningful this long time to me. It was extremely difficult to make this decision. That's why I have so many mixed feelings and great regret."

She then expressed her gratitude, saying, "Most importantly, I was able to try new things without fear because of the customers who have supported me throughout my 10 years in clothing business."

She added, "Now, as I close one chapter, I want to deeply reflect on better and more sustainable ways to move forward as a brand director and creator. I would be grateful if you could continue to watch my next journey."

Moon Gabi shares uncensored photos of her son with Jung Woosung ... His tall height, like his father, draws attention

Moon Gabi shared pictures of her son with Jung Woosung outside of marriage.

On the 30th, Moon Gabi shared photos on her personal social media account showing her daily life with her son, whom she had with Jung Woosung. The photos show Moon Gabi and her son walking along the beach and visiting traditional Korean houses. Her son seems to have grown quite a bit. They look relaxed while enjoying their walk, drawing a lot of attention.

Previously, Moon Gabi had publicly announced that she gave birth to a son on her social media account. It was later revealed that the father of that child is Jung Woosung, shocking the public. At the time, Jung Woosung's agency, Artist Company, confirmed the news, saying, "The child revealed by Moon Gabi on social media is indeed Jung Woosung's biological son. Both sides are currently discussing the best approach to raise the child. Jung Woosung will take full responsibility as a father."

Shortly after the news, Jung Woosung issued an apology on stage at the Blue Dragon Film Awards, saying, "I sincerely apologize for causing concern and disappointment to everyone who has sent me love and support. I will take all the criticism upon myself. As a father, I will fulfill my responsibilities until the end."

Since then, Jung Woosung has reportedly registered his marriage with his longtime non-celebrity girlfriend, and they recently became legally married.

[+35][-2] I wonder what Jung Woosung thinks when he sees these photos being made public.

[+33][-4] She’s raising him beautifully. Even if he takes after his mom, he’ll have a unique and handsome charm.

[+26][-2] It's true that these pictures are uncensored, but... The reporter's playing word games here.

I think this whole NewJeans situation is a small-scale example that shows the structural problems in Korean society

I think this whole NewJeans situation is a small-scale example that shows the structural problems in Korean society

Forcing the girls to return to a company where trust is completely broken and telling them to just finish their contract period is too violent and suffocating.

I believe NewJeans has the right to leave HYBE and be free.

Decades from now, when Korean society looks back on this day, people will clearly realize how all this unfairness against NewJeans was based on outdated values, and they will deeply feel ashamed.

It's disgusting how so many people seem to enjoy 'disciplining' these young girls under the guise of 'teaching them a lesson.'

Min Heejin, who reportedly hires 7 lawyers to sue an ordinary female employee over a workplace harassment issue, represents yet another structural problems in Korean society.

theqoo

-Is a contract a joke? What even is the cause of the broken trust?

-Emotions don't solve anything.

-...? Do you think NewJeans would be treated any differently in another country? Legally, they'd probably face even worse consequences. They would probably have to pay more compensation.

-That is exactly what you call a contract...

-Do you think this only happened because they're young girls?? Things escalated this far and you think this only happened because they're young...??

-What do you think is a contract then? If they don't want to return to that company, they should pay penalty fees then.

-Why sign a contract in the first place then?? Just make a pinky promise instead.

-How shameless... Why do you think contracts even exist in the first place?? They brought this upon themselves.

-What do you think the law is?? You can't break the law just by throwing a tantrum.

-That person must be a minor too.

-The result would've been exactly the same even if they're a boy groupㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

-Why do contracts exist? It exists to be followed.

-Where did things go wrong? Do they not understand how contracts work?

-Hang in there, NewJeans, I support you.

-Do they think Korea’s law and contracts are a joke?

-What are they even saying… do they not have a brain?

"Used NewJeans' parents to lead public opinion" ... Court strongly criticizes Min Heejin

NewJeans has lost the first trial in their exclusive contract dispute against their agency ADOR.

On the 30th, the Seoul Central District Court ruled that the contract remains valid in ADOR's 'lawsuit to confirm the validity of the exclusive contract' against NewJeans members.

Furthermore, the court stated that former CEO Min Heejin appeared to have been preparing for a public opinion war and a lawsuit with the goal of becoming independent from HYBE. This cannot be seen as an action to protect NewJeans.

In particular, the court strongly criticized former CEO Min Heejin, saying "She prepared for a public opinion war using NewJeans' parents as her shields."

The court pointed out, "Based on Min Heejin's KakaoTalk messages, she planned to spread the idea that 'HYBE mistreated NewJeans' by using NewJeans' parents, while she stayed behind and prepared for lawsuits. The court added, "This cannot be seen as an effort to protect NewJeans from ADOR's contract breach."

After the ruling today, NewJeans' legal team released a statement saying that they respect the court's decision, but it's impossible for the members to return to ADOR and continue normal activities since their trust has already completely broken down.

Previously, the court had dismissed all of NewJeans' objections and appeals. This means that the members could not work without ADOR's approval until the final judgment.

Also, in May, the court accepted ADOR's request for indirect compulsory enforcement, ruling that if NewJeans engages in independent activities without prior approval, each member would have to pay 1 billion KRW for every violation.

YTN

[+367][-28] They ended up looking like fools in the middle of all this.

[+350][-39] I expected the court result after reading all the past articles... The pressure from the articles pouring out every day is so intense that if they were regular people, it wouldn't be strange if they committed suicide. The reason I hope they return to ADOR is not about whether they will do well, but so they don’t get hurt anymore.

[+328][-96] Isn’t it strange how in this whole fight between Bang Sihyuk and Min Heejin, the adults completely got away without consequence?

[+72][-10] NewJeans lost the lawsuit. On the other hand, somewhere out there Min Heejin is excited about starting her new company. She made 5 billion KRW and that's it.

[+67][-5] In the end, they really did become the second Fifty Fifty.

[+59][-10] This is how scary gaslighting can be. The girls are still not free from it.

[+58]-21] ㅋㅋ Are you guys buzzers??? Do you think contracts are a joke?? The court ruled against them, it means they should stick to the contract. Do you think contracts are just some pinky promise??? Just stick to the contract.

The most shocking part of NewJeans' lawsuit in my opinion

Up until now, people believed that all five NewJeans members' parents fully supported their daughters' position. However, it has now been revealed for the first time that there were differences of opinion among some of the parents and this internal conflict has escalated into a legal fight.

The conflict within Member A's family started when one parent, B, refused to sign the documents necessary for filing the 'exclusive contract injunction lawsuit' against ADOR last year. As A's legal guardians, both B and C must agree for A to participate in the lawsuit. Even if one parent objects, A can't legally join any lawsuit against ADOR.

B refused to sign A's lawsuit paperwork, which means B was against their daughter going against ADOR. On the other hand, C supported A's decision and agreed with NewJeans' stance to terminate the exclusive contract and leave ADOR. As a result, C filed a parental rights exclusion lawsuit against B to remove B's parental rights for this specific legal matter.

This situation is significant because it shows that the dispute over ADOR has caused a split within the members' own families, going beyond just one member's private life. It is the first time it was confirmed that there are disagreements among the NewJeans parents, and people are especially curious why B was so firmly against the lawsuit.

According to statements made by NewJeans’ legal team and the court during the main trial on the 4th, the family court in charge of the parental rights case sided with C, who supported the lawsuit. This ruling limited B’s authority, who opposed A’s participation in the case. It remains unclear whether B has since appealed the decision.

http://m.tvdaily.co.kr/article.php?aid=17437334651746459010#_PA

To summarize the situation:

-One parent of an underage member opposed the lawsuit.
-A minor needs permission from both parents to sue. Since one of her parents objected, the lawsuit was initially blocked from moving forward.
-The parent who supported the lawsuit filed a separate lawsuit against their spouse to remove their parental authority for this issue.
-The court agreed that the child's opinion was important and ruled in favor of the parent who supported the lawsuit.

This isn't necessarily hopeful news, though...

It shows that despite one parent’s strong opposition, to the point of being sued by their own spouse, the member herself remains determined to see the lawsuit through the end.

theqoo

-The makjang of the 21st century.

-It looks like only one person out of ten parents was against this lawsuit...

-Min Heejin is truly wicked for dragging this out even after seeing how messy it got.

-That one parent fought a lonely battle...

-Seems like only one of the parents is sane...

-Is it really worth going that far, honestly?

-Whoa... A family fell apart because of this.

-Min Heejin, what are you going to do with NewJeans’ lives now?…

-Sigh... Hyein-ah, you should've just listened to your dad.

-It's not my place to comment on someone else's family matters, but it's truly unfortunate....

-Did they really have to go this far?

-The father objected, but the mother disagreed with him. That's why they had the parental rights lawsuit.

-Everyone just lost their mind over money, that’s all.

-Money comes before familyㅋ

-This is shocking.

"10 reasons for termination all dismissed" ... NewJeans loses contract battle against ADOR.

NewJeans has failed in its attempt to leave ADOR.

On the 30th, the Seoul Central District Court’s Civil Agreement Division 41 delivered its ruling in the case over the validity of NewJeans’ exclusive contract with ADOR. The result was a complete victory for ADOR. NewJeans must also cover all legal costs.

The court stated, "It is difficult to conclude that ADOR has violated any serious obligations of the contract and or that the trust relationship has been broken down."

Normally, civil court only announces the decision, but in this case the judge read a 40-minute detailed statement point by point.

① Dismissal of Min Heejin = Management vacuum?

The court first addressed NewJeans’ argument, saying, "It is difficult to conclude that a management vacuum ocurred simply because ADOR dismissed CEO Min Heejin." The court ruled that NewJeans' high trust in Min Heejin is not enough to guarantee her position as CEO in the exclusive contract.

The court also pointed out that Min Heejin could still act as an in-house director and producer even after being dismissed as CEO, saying "The contract does not specifically state that Min Heejin must be the CEO to manage the group"

Furthermore, the court revealed, "ADOR offered Min Heejin a contract to re-delegate her duties as the producer, but she refused. ADOR later attempted to re-appoint her as an in-house director, but she resigned herself. Therefore, it's hard to say that ADOR unilaterally broke the trust relationship."

② HYBE’s ability to continue management duties

NewJeans claimed, "ADOR failed to fulfill its management duties after Min Heejin's dismissal." The court disagreed, saying, "The delay in hiring a new producer for several months was because ADOR was waiting for Min Heejin's cooperation. During that time, ADOR still continued to handle management tasks like album production, concert preparations, world tour planing, and ad shootings."

③ Min Heejin’s audit and dismissal procedures were legitimate

Another issue was whether Min Heejin's dismissal was justified. The court ruled, "Her dismissal can not be seen as a result of an unfair audit."

The judge directly cited KakaoTalk messages between Min Heejin and former ADOR VP, Lee Sangwoo.

In February 2024, the VP said, "Let's make things difficult for HYBE and gain our freedom,” to which Min Heejin replied, “That would be great.”

In a conversation the next month, Min Heejin said, "Plan change, we're moving up the timeline. We won't talk about the media here. We will fight a public opinion war and then sue. We'll wait for a response, then release the story."

They also quoted a KakaoTalk message that showed Min Heejin had prepared a complaint for the Fair Trade Commission on 20 April 2024. Min Heejin said, "The mothers need to file the complain with FTC and announce it publicly. The important thing here is not about HYBE's sales, it's about making this known to the public."

The court continued, "She also contacted the investors and trying to gain support from the public by using the parents of the members. These actions are enough reason for ADOR to launch an audit. There is enough evidence to suggest that Min Heejin intended to take NewJeans and ADOR independent. ADOR's decision to launch an audit was simply a response to this plan."

④ Dispatch trainee videos = trust breakdown?

The court also rejected claims that the video of NewJeans members' Source Music trainee days, which was released by Dispatch, was not enough as a reason to say that trust was broken.

The court confirmed, "Two videos were actually deleted and others had been blurred out. HYBE even selected an additional company to handle this, sent an email to Source Music to check how it got leaked, and sent an official document to Dispatch. It is difficult to say that they did not take all the necessary measures."

⑤ HYBE defamed NewJeans’ achievements?

Regarding the claim that a HYBE PR staff member tried to downplay NewJeans' achievement to a reporter, the court said, "It is difficult to say that this is a defamation. They were correcting facts that were important for HYBE and its stock price."

At that time, a reporter had incorrectly reported that NewJeans' debut album in Japan sold 1 million copies, which was false. HYBE said, "We requested a correction because it could confuse the investors."

⑥ ILLIT plagiarized NewJeans?

The claim that ILLIT plagiarized NewJeans was also not accepted. The court stated, "There are similarities between NewJeans and ILLIT, but it is difficult to see them as being copied."

⑦ Hanni's 'ignore her' incident

The court pointed out that the first person to use the phrase 'ignore her' was Min Heejin.

The court found that Min Heejin emphasized the word 'ignore' when she messaged Hanni, "Did all the ILLIT members ignore you?"

The court also noted that Hanni did not accurately describe the situation at the time, saying "The CCTV footage confirms that the ILLIT members bowed to greet Hanni. Based only on the submitted evidence, it is difficult to accept that Hanni heard remarks that violated her personal rights."

⑧ Dolphiner Films

The court also found it fair that HYBE asked the production team, Dolphiner Films, to delete the NewJeans 'ETA Director's Cut' video.

The court explained, "If you look at the contract, content cant be posted without HYBE's permission. Despite that, Dolphiner Films still posted it. The action that HYBE took against Dolphiner Films is an exercise of a right based on the contract. Therefore, it is hard to view this as a violation of any major exclusive contract obligations."

⑨ Album pushing

The court stated that this was just a tool Min Heejin used to create conflict.

The court said, "Based on the submitted evidence, it is difficult to conclude that 'album pushing,' which would harm NewJeans, was actually carried out. Min Heejin merely used this as a way to attack HYBE."

⑩ 'Ditch 'New', start fresh'

NewJeans was focused only on the phrase 'Ditch 'New', start fresh' in a report at the time. However, the court looked at the report as a whole and decided that it did not contain anything negative about NewJeans.

The court also questioned Min Heejin's actions, pointing out, "Min He-jin, who was the CEO at the time, received the report but did not raise any objections."

The court also mentioned that HYBE invested 21 billion KRW in NewJeans, saying, "it is hard to believe that HYBE would give up on NewJeans and focus on another idol group."

The court ruled, "It is difficult to see that ADOR seriously violated the exclusive contract. We also cannot accept NewJeans' claim that the relationship of trust has been broken. Therefore, the claim to terminate the exclusive contract has no grounds."

As a result, the exclusive contract between NewJeans and ADOR remains valid. This ruling gives ADOR legal authority to stop NewJeans from pursuing independent activities.

NewJeans cannot carry out independent activities without ADOR's permission, just as was decided in the preliminary court order before the main lawsuit was finished.

Immediately after the verdict, NewJeans announced their intent to appeal. Their legal representative, Sejong, stated, “While we respect the court’s decision, it is impossible to return to ADOR given the complete breakdown of trust. We plan to appeal immediately.”
