INB100, the agency of EXO-CBX, denies SM Ent.'s statement.
Below is the full statement.
Chairman Cha Ga-won and Representative Shin Dong Hyun express deep regret towards SM Ent, once again claiming it's tampering. They urge SM Ent. to publicly disclose their standards for tampering.
Furthermore, we will strongly respond to SM Ent.'s claims of tampering by seeking all civil and criminal liabilities for defamation and spreading false information.
We find it absurd and even petty that a big entertainment company like SM Ent. forgets its responsibility and misses the point by nitpicking and making baseless claims.
We argue that SM Ent's attempt to frame CBX, former artists under their label, for tampering with other artists' activities is unwarranted and lacks credibility.
CBX has decided to give up the exclusive down payment and continue EXO activities under SM Ent.
However, only individual activities will be carried out separately by the company, and a separate company will be established to distribute albums and music, which requires a distributor. SM Ent. initially demanded 10% of sales from CBX, but they proposed to use Kakao for distribution at a 5.5f% fee. In other words, SM Ent. proposed everything and now is backing out of the deal.
Once again, through this press conference, we demand clarification from SM Ent.
SM Ent, please clearly define your criteria and basis for "tampering." Is it considered tampering when artists seek advice and counseling from acquaintances, seniors, or colleagues?
Baekhyun was seeking advice while setting up his personal company. Considering that he's setting up a one-person company, what SM Ent. says about tampering doesn't make more sense.
Initially, Baekhyun, who started a one-person company, attempted to manage both his artist activities and his business, but he realized the impracticality and entrusted the management to professionals while pursuing his dream as an artist and producer.
As a major entertainment company, SM Ent. should stop trying to divert attention from the point of the whole issue by making irrelevant arguments and driving the public's opinion.
Forcing artists to obligate without being able to keep their promises themselves is a behavior that clearly shows that they're a major entertainment company who only sees their artists as a money-making tool.
In today's statement, SM Ent.stated, "We do not have the authority to determine Kakao's commission." However, during negotiations, CEO Lee Sungsoo, who was the negotiator, boasted to Chairman Cha Ga-won, "You have to pay 17% in other places anyway. So, if we give 5.5%, there's no difference." This shows that CEO Lee Sungsoo and SM Ent. are deceiving their artists because they clearly do not have the ability to do so.
Finally, SM Ent. should not distort the point of the whole matter and publicly disclose the basic right of artists, which is the settlement basis data.
Before claiming tampering, SM Ent. should first reflect on whether they have concluded the contract, executed the cost, and disclosed the settlement within the framework of the standard contract.
If SM continues to not provide the settlement basis data, we will file for an injunction with the court.
Meanwhile, INB100 will do its best to protect the rights of artists.
Summary:
Too long
-Exactly. Let's just meet in court.
--Resolve it according to the law.
-Stop this.
-Why is this statement so badly written?? Just settle it in court.
-The way they write statements is really similar to HYBE.
-Enough...
-Just go to court... Go and pay the penalty and finish it. Why appeal to public opinion so much? If it's really a breach of contract, file a lawsuit and let the court decide.
-Resolve it in court.
-Did they write this statement without consulting a lawyer?
-By the way, the quality of their statement is so different from SM Ent. That company had a lawyer to write their statements, while this company... Who wrote this?? It doesn't seem like the words a lawyer would use.
-Today's press conference was tampering itself...
-Go to court.
-The quality of their statement, though...ㅋㅋㅋㅋ
-Go argue in court. Stop appealing to public opinion now~~~~~~
