BTS' Sajaegi allegations has spread internationally

An article stating that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is investigating suspicions of BTS' Sajaegi in X has garnered 6.12 million views. The hashtag #Sajaegi, pronounced in Korean, is written in the hashtags.

International BTS' fans are heavily criticizing Korea.

International fans also drag SM Ent. into this, asking the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism to investigate SM Ent and EXO's Sajaegi.

The court ruling was based on evidence. They're trying to make South Korea feel ashamed.

-What a disgrace to the country

-Why should we apologize?

-What's with the stubbornness? Why should the country apologize?

-Stupid.

-It was HYBE and BTS who did Sajaegi, so why should the country apologize? Crazy people.

-That fandom is so full of themselves.

-They need to calm down.

-The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is just an administrative body, so in reality, they can't do anything. They just have to respond to complaints and make it seem like they're doing something... I suddenly feel sorry for the person in charge of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism...

-Why are they meddling in other countries' affairs like that? Pathetic.

-Do they not have brains?

-They're like a cult.

-Is bullying others their hobby? It seems like if they don't do that, their fandom won't function.

-Seeing them spreading fabricated reports, it's clear the international fans aren't sane either.

-Who are they to judge a legal verdict...

-They probably don't want to believe the truth about BTS' Sajaegi.

-Those international fans are going nuts again.

-What do they expect when the verdict is out?

-They're really famous for being stupid, huh?

-HYBE probably hoped the hoarding issue would be buried... What now?ㅋㅋㅋㅋ

Investigation for BTS Sajaegi Allegations is Underway ... Petition to Revoke Awards Received from Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism

by Reporter Lee Sunmyung

A petition requesting for an investigation into the allegations of Sajaegi surrounding BTS has been sent to the relevant authorities. Additionally, there's also a petition requesting BTS to revoke the awards they received from the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism (MCST) previously received these petitions on the 2nd and plans to transfer them to the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA), a platform that deals with Sajaegi accusations. KOCCA will verify the facts and then request a response from Big Hit Music (HYBE) for an explanation. Depending on the situation, they will thoroughly examine the matter through investigative agencies facilitated by the MCST.

The suspicions of Sajaegi arose in January 2017 when the case's verdict was made public. A petitioner named A stated, "Judging from the verdict, it seems likely that illegal marketing occurred from September 23, 206, when the law regulating music industry promotion, including Sajaegi, was revised, up until January 11, 2017, when I received the first email from the defendant. It is deemed that Big Hit Music was forced to make a large payment due to threats."

Additionally, it has been confirmed that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on the 3rd of the month, received a petition requesting the revocation of the cultural minister's commendation awarded to BTS in October 2016 for their contribution to the advancement of Hallyu.

The complaint stated, "The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism should choose award winners carefully based on their achievements and conduct fair evaluations. If necessary, they should involve experts in the field to ensure an objective and fair assessment." The complaint also mentioned, "The suspicion of BTS's chart manipulation is a serious matter that goes against fair competition and the law. Therefore, according to Article 8, Clause 1, Subclause 1 of the Awards Act and Article 18, Clause 1 of the Government Award Regulations, the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism must promptly review the revocation of the award."

The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, which received the complaint, is reportedly examining the facts.

theqoo

-If it's true, they should cancel the award, right?

-Wasn't there a court ruling, not just allegations? Why are they still calling it an allegation?

-Isn't that medal for promoting Korean culture and language worldwide? And what's the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism got to do with it? They couldn't even conclude the previous Sajaegi issue with a court ruling. Why are they investigating this when it's not even under judicial authority?

-I don't understand the connection between the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, investigation, and Sajaegi.

-With a court ruling, why investigate again? Isn't it obvious?

-They should return the award, whether it's a medal or a commendation.

-I mean... Athletes have to revoke their medals if they get caught doping, don't they?

-Wow, it's getting serious.

-The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism shouldn't be criticized. In our country, all public institutions should receive and respond to petitions. Although it might not be possible to accept every petition, especially in this controversial issue, we shouldn't blame the person who submitted the petition to the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism. Cancelling an award can be done according to regulations, and we need to carefully examine whether the award was given based on music sales performance.

-I don't think they're going to return the awards

-I think there's no need to investigate when everything's already in the court ruling.

-Suspicions? There's already a court ruling...

-They did contribute to the Hallyu wave. The contribution they made was significant, though...

-I'm not a fan, but why cancel it? Canceling seems too much.

-ㅋㅋㅋ It's funny, there's a clear court ruling.

-Canceling the award is going too far.

-Suspicion? Investigation? Is the court ruling not enough?

-I think the award should be canceled;; Everything started with Sajaegi.

All 13 members of SEVENTEEN renewed their contracts ahead of schedule

All 13 members renew their contracts early

Consideration and compromise make it possible

Hoshi: Honestly, I really want to go solo! However, if everyone does solo activities, it will be hard for the group to have a full-team album. Everyone gave up their individual activities and chose to be a team.

Seungkwan: Since there's talk about idol singers not having long careers, there's also this "The Curse of 7 Years" for idol singers. Negotiating a renewal at the 7-year mark made us reconsider once again, whether I should look out for our own interests or continue on this path. There are various factors and individual concerns to consider, as well as reconsidering as a team.

Jeonghan: But then, we might misunderstand each other if we say something (that's why we're not saying anything). Because we're not saying anything, it becomes even harder. Despite our good relationship and thoughts of staying togethe, it's still very difficult. It was a time when we truly felt the difficulty of surpassing the 7-year mark and realized how difficult it is to go beyond seven years.

Q: As the youngest member, what were the difficult aspects in contract renewal?

Dino: As I'm still young, there's this recurring question: "Do I really want to be a singer?" There are so many things I can do and so many experiences I want to have, but do I have the desire to dedicate my life to this path?... Is what I'm doing now something that excites me for the future?

Q: What were the specific issues during the contract renewal?

Woozi: The really difficult part was facing reality! It wasn't easy to talk about money and future plans with friends who we always hang out and laugh with. Although we all share the same affection for each other, there came a moment when we had to have really deep conversations even though I didn't want to. I didn't want to see that reality where we had to have those discussions, but we had to. Even though I didn't want to, I had to face it.

Seungkwan: We had to decide on the contract period, like how many years it would be, and also renegotiate the profit ratio. And in a way, we, who used to secretly go to convenience stores, now had to negotiate with the company's staff, so we're not just kids anymore.

S.Coups: It took longer than I expected. The period for contract renewal negotiations was 8-9 months.

Kang Ho-dong: 8-9 months is really long. There could be so many variables and misunderstandings happening during that period of time

Mingyu: I think I tried to start conversations quickly and have many of them. Although the idea of contract renewal felt tremendously big and heavy, to me, it felt like I was just continuing what I've been doing, just a new beginning. I had a strong feeling that we should definitely continue together, so it wasn't difficult to start the conversation.

S.Coups: And (Mingyu) was positive, whether talking about money or anything else. He was really positive when discussing anything. That energy spread and became good energy.

DK: He did well in gathering us

Seungkwan: Usually, each member goes in for a meeting individually, but we thought, 'Let's not make it awkward by going in individually. Let's go in as a group from the beginning.'

DK: We didn't want to break

Seungkwan: Let's discuss together even if it's among ourselves, that's how we did it.

Normally, meetings are held one by one, but SEVENTEEN went in as a group for contract renewal because they all have the same determination. Besides, it might become awkward to go in individually.

theqoo

-Let's go for a long time, let's go high SEVENTEEN

-Looking at how none of them seems to want to go solo, it seems like they just really enjoy and cherish being together as a group.

-Truly remarkable, it's definitely not easy.

-The fact that all 13 of them went into negotiations together shows their desire not to create misunderstandings...

-SEVENTEEN..ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ It must be a blessing to have a team like that, where everyone shares the same sentiment.

-It's amazing how all those individuals shared the same sentiment, and it's also fascinating to know there's someone who put in the most effort at the center, and the fact that they went into negotiations as a group for contract renewal is also amazing...

-Mingyu, you're admirable

-Even if you work for the same company for seven years, you might want to move or try other things, but they put aside all those considerations...

-This is really a unique case. The fact that they all went to the negotiation table together shows how much they put each other first.

-This is really impressive. It must have been difficult for all 13 of them to set aside their individual desires. Still, SEVENTEEN firmly maintained it, and I'm thankful for that

-ㅠㅠ I love SEVENTEEN..

-It seems like they set aside their desires for each other.

-Their desires to have solo promotions must be big since idol life isn't easy, but it's good that all 13 of them are on the same page.

-If they negotiated all at once, their company must've felt pressured. Usually, they negotiate one by one, and the company sits down to suppress them, right?

-Seeing all the Chinese members renew their contracts makes me realize the bond in this group is really genuine.

-With so many members, it's surprising that they all renewed their contracts, I was amazed.

-Renewing contracts for all 13 members is really not an easy taskㅜㅠ Thank you for renewing!! Let's go for a long time, let's go high SEVENTEEN

-It's not easy, but there must be a reason for a team to last long.

-Thank you for continuing with team activities.

-Mingyu is amazing, really

-No wonder they're doing well and lasting long... Impressive.

-It's really nice to see how much the members cherish the group.

Na Youngsuk thanks Seventeen for the spilled-coffee incident

Youngsuk thanks Jeonghan for the time where one of the production staff accidentally spilled coffee and Jeonghan lightening the mood as he turned it into a joke. Youngsuk said the staff must've been really embarrassed at that time, but Jeonghan cleverly eased the situation, for which Youngsuk was grateful.

Jeonghan is truly a content-creating beastㅋㅋㅋㅋ Maybe that's why he has a quick wit. But he's also very sensible. None of the members showed any signs of being flustered to upset when it happened. They even helped clean up while joking around.

The staff must've been really anxious after making a mistake. She probably was very grateful for Seventeen's response, I bet she will forever remember it for the rest of her life.

theqoo

-He's really smart for this. If I were that staff, I would've cried right awayㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ They were having a break time, but they still dealt with the situation with humor. It was really admirableㅠㅠㅠ

-The speed of Seventeen's reaction is amazingㅋㅋㅋㅋ

-But seriously, that staff must've been so grateful. Imagine working in a broadcasting industry, as the youngest staff I made a mess in the waiting room of a popular celebrity. Damn, her head must've turned blank.

-It wasn't just one cup of coffee spilled, it was multiple, if I were the writer, I would've totally freaked out. However, Jeonghan cracked a joke and Seventeen helped clean up together. If I were that staff, I would've been really grateful.

-I just watched the clip, and damn, the members' speed at avoiding the coffee was no joke. If it were me, I would've been soaked already.

-If I were that staff, I would've been so nervous...

-S.Coups' speed of reaction is really fastㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ I think I saw something on YouTube before that he's naturally quick.

-He's so sensible. Since Jeonghan started it, everyone just went along.

-If I were that staff, I would've been so grateful that I would've criedㅜㅜㅜㅜㅜㅜ

-They all have such quick wit and senseㅋㅋ

-Wow, if he hadn't said anything and the atmosphere turned tense, I would've cried.

-The members also responded wellㅋㅋㅋ

-Seriously, I'm really impressed...
